- Interviewer: 3 records in almost one year... KG, LW and now Butterfly 3000. What is going on?! - Stu: Uhm, yeah I mean like, I don't know, we just, uhm... we just like to make music.
i mean its kind of a silly question if you know anything about kglw you know theyve always made tons of music and there's never been a big gap in their releases
Stu: I dunno, sometimes you just kind of think of something and it becomes a song before you know it, you know you're just getting in there and you're thinking about something, and you know you're kind of thinking about the song and there's this music
THESE ARE THE BEST! I love hearing stu dive deep into his songwriting process / his outlook on the band in general. us gizz heads itch for stuff like this
My favorite thing about this band is that they're not afraid to take bold risks and experiment with new sounds. They wouldn't have released Flying Microtonal Banana or Nonagon Infinity otherwise.
OKAY. I appreciate this album and this band beyond words. The sheer amount of thought and life they cook into each of their songs is mind boggling. The fact no interviewer has asked exactly what their muse is or how they manage to conjure up their lyrics absolutely blows my mind. The lyrics they bring to life are fucking astounding and I have always wondered what it is that drives this aspect of their music because it paints a whole new layer to their songs beyond the insanity of 7/4 timing and releasing 5 albums in a year. Every album of theirs I hear feels like being hit by a train in the best way. Look forward to seeing the gizzies on tour in the states in 2022. Keep fucking rocking you insane bastards ily
Yeah exactly they are great not only quantitatively but also qualitatively as well. I wouldn't personally expect every song to be a banger from a band that released 18 albums in less than a decade but hey here we are
Wow. I've never seen this channel - No idea who this person is interviewing Stu, but goddamn she did a great job! She seems so engaged and passionate. I would watch any and every interview with this person.
Sagid Carter is an amazing interviewer! Great questions, good listening skills and it felt more like a conversation than a "traditional" interview! Really liked the vibe, keep it up :)
they've matured like so much, was listening to I'm In Your Mind Fuzz the other day, and i absolutely loved that album back in like 2015, it had such the sound of what rock music truly is, there was a youthful essence and they've grown up a lot.
Great Interview! King Gizz is so diverse - I love it! especially Im in Your Mind, the flying microtonal banana and Straws in the wind. Can't wait to finally see you in Germany ( Missed you 3 years in a row..). Keep it up!
How these blokes all came together is insane. Imagine any other band creating this much music and it being so good. I know not every album is a total hit to everyone, but none of them are bad. I don’t know any band that doesn’t have an album that’s not that good.
Echt een top interview!! Mijn complimenten voor de gesteld vragen zo hoort het!! Hopelijk zien we ze volgend jaar de alpha of bravo op zijn kop zetten 🙏
tbh, I thought their 3 most recent albums were not as strong relative to their discography, but still good work nonetheless. I think their best work comes when they are touring and are incredibly busy. 2016/2017 were their most busy years with writing and touring and probably the best music they ever created came from that time. I hope when they start touring again we will see their creativity flourish.
@@laloquaint Right? I mean, they ARE playing every song off every album at Red Rocks later this year but sitting down to do the commentary for each song would be rough to do.
These guys' job: Music, 24/7. I wouldn't ask anything politically of them. But of ordinary Australians? Folks, the world is waiting and yearning for you to Stand. For Freedom. Your present silence and acquiescence sow seeds of despair everywhere...
Fiiiiinnally an interviewer that actually listens and doesn't constantly interrupt. Thanks!
I know! And the only interviewer that doesn't treat them as stupid stoners and ask "Who is King Gizzard? Who is the Lizard Wizard?"
@@stonercactus haha but that old interview was actually funny as hell if that’s the one you’re talking about

"Uhmm yeah i mean even in space they got spaceships"
If the music business was how it was 30-40 years ago, this band would be on a major label and pushed to front like U2 or Queen or Pink Floyd.
In a way, thank god they aren't, you know? More organic this way :)
20:58 Stu revealing his true lizard voice.
My favorite thing about this band is that they're not afraid to take bold risks and experiment with new sounds. They wouldn't have released Flying Microtonal Banana or Nonagon Infinity otherwise.
my favorite records too, their experimental stuff is so good
And then to release an album for absolutely free. More than free even, allowing fans to potentially make money off of it. Unheard of until then
"OK,so... Our first album was a traditional garage rock banger, how do we follow that up?"
"what about a spaghetti western narrative story?"
And it sounds fucking awesome

You should check out the interview he did on "Songwriters on Process"
Some iconic lines throughout the years. Reals not Real has some great quotes.
they write great lyrics, in general Stu has a great vocabulary
well said
Fishing For Fishies and Butterfly 3000 are my go to summer albums.

Goddamn it Stu, can't help but use vocal effects at the end of this interview
I could watch an infinite amount of footage of stu talking about songwriting

What a lovely interviewer! Great listener, and asking some really great questions. I really appreciated the whole vibe.

Love the hug of The GrandMother synth in the album

So are king gizz ready to rerelease their entire discography with commentary?
Doubtful, but would be rad.
At the pace that they release albums, that'd be hard to make lol

And?
How old are you?

I literally know everything about Gizzard and have some of the deepest questions, hit me up next time you want and interviewer 👍
"You guys are on a roll!" ...continues to name 3 of the very worst albums of all time to justify herself. Accept reality, KGLW is done.
It's too bad Stu couldn't get his hands on a decent mic for these interviews.
Such a Curt thing to say
