Every time I see this video I am brought to tears. If only the tw*ts in power could see how beautiful South Africa could be if everyone united like this
Unfortunately reality is very different. The powers behind the scenes, who financed the "liberation", are still in power. Only the veneer has changed. Read Stephan Goodson's book on Central banking. There lies the root.
I once saw Johnny sitting quietly at a coffee shop about 3 years ago. I approached him and thanked him for being here for us. No selfies, no autographs, just sincere thanks.
Johnny was the first 'celebrity' I ever met in person. I passed him in a hotel parking lot and said 'Howzit Johnny.' He kindly returned the gesture. What an incredible life. This tribute is testament to the lives he's touched with his music. I grew up listening to The Scatterlings of Africa on LP. My first musical influence now that I think about it. Thanks for the 'firsts' Johnny. Your love for South Africa and it's people will be fondly remembered and honoured. Thanks for posting this Karen.
Just a dream with our current government driving this country into the ground. No electricity, sub-standard education, highest unemployment rate ever and crime that has spiraled and still we can't vote the anc out. Nope... we dream but going down like a lead balloon !
I am sobbing uncontrollably... THIS is the South Africa Johnny Clegg lived and worked for. He has crossed over to the other side. Let us make him proud.
I'm an Afrikaans speaking South African in France, teaching an Indian and American how to sing the Zulu part of an English song written by a white man known as the White Zulu. Damn I love Mzansi 🇿🇦
This video should be played before every Parliament sitting, before every political rally and before every interview with any politician. Because this is who the broader public is. And despite the attempts by our politicians to divide us, this harmony is what most South Africans want. This should be the soundtrack to our revolution, where we take away the divisive rethoric from our politicians and remind them that most of us want peace and unity. Well done to all the artists. You made a middle aged white guy shed a tear for what South Africa is suppose to be.
As another middle aged white guy I agree 100%. I exited high school at the end of 92 at a time when expectation of positive change was huge and I was filled with hope for a better country. One day when the politicians and media are put in their place, we will get there. I just hope my kids get to experience South Africa as it should be, the SA Johnny Clegg and so many others fought for.
I haven't watched this since my soulmate made the crossing on 24 January, 2024 - I sobbed my heart out. We'd watched it together may times. May you both rest in peace - you brought joy in my life.
I'm glad these guys came together and celebrated him while he was still alive...his music and our memories of him of hope for a S.A we always hoped for will live forever ❤❤❤❤
Certainly saddened by his passing. His music will live on for many, many more generations. RIP, Johnny Clegg. Thanks for your commitment to and fight for a world of brotherhood.
I live in Canada now. I will always consider South Africa my home even though I was born in England. I lived in SA for over 50 yrs and will always be homesick. I love that country, it will always be dear to my heart. I’m so glad I got to see Johnny Clegg live a couple of times. Always shed a tear when I hear his music. RIP Johnny, I for one will miss you terribly. You were a great ambassador for SA.😢😪🇿🇦/🇨🇦

To All South Africans, this is South Africa i am Risking my life for, the Rainbow nation i am dying to see. South Africa where we eat from one plate. I very much appreciate his friends. Mr Johnny Clegg your life was fruitful. Please rest in perfect peace. south Africa loves you.

Johnny Clegg was not only a great musician and songwriter, but he was flat out one of the finest human beings that ever lived. His integrity, courage, and compassion were unmatched. Not only South Africa but the entire world were blessed by his presence, and we're all diminished now that he's gone.

Johnny Clegg has proven one thing :there is only ONE human race.RIP. He left the world a better place for those who cared to listen and to work for the general interest.
I would consider myself hardened to the world... but there is something about Johnny's music... this especially... that has me streaming tears like a newborn. RIP my man. If the rest of us left here could just feel a fraction of the emotion conveyed in your music the world would truly be an epic place!
I love egos as they fade, voices as they rise, shadows that grow longer, pain that disappears & smiles as they penetrate the darkness and hands that clap as one
Thats beautiful guys, real rainbow nation. im loving this. if the nation could live like this all the time. RIP Jonny, you will always be remembered with your beatiful music. you will always live in our hearts. Guys this is the South Africa we want
The thing I love the most about Johnny Clegg was that he was a white man that spoke the language of the oppressed and lifted their spirits in defiance of the laws of the time. Seeing David Kramer in the video surely brought back great memories of him and his volksibus.

Today I was reminded by one mans music what it feels like to belong to South Africa. The country of my birth and that of my children. Thank you Johnny Clegg.... Ungumuntu omkhulu phakathi kwabantu!
Elton Tuck I completely agree! Made me so emotional and made me miss SA so much. Nothing is the same...The country of my birth and where my heart forever lies!
I have been a fan of Mr, Clegg since the 80s. As a citizen born in the US, I am jealous that we do not have a national hero like him, a bridge between cultures, pointing the way to a brighter future. He's your Pete Seeger, & Dylan (if Bob was more politcally active), & your Eric Clapton, adopting a music tradition from another, so very worthy culture. He has rightfully celebrated the value of every culture, that can be woven into the tapestry of Humanity. What a Great Heart !!! I cry everytime I watch/hear him & his brothers, sisters, mentors performing together. Long may his life guide us !
Listening to this in the lockdown & I get goosebumps. I love my country so so much. These artist did an impeccable job! We will get over this mountain SA 🇿🇦

My favourite tribute to Johnny! I saw him live in Durban on his final tour and I'll never forget that night for as long as I live. This man was a true inspiration for equality and his message will always live on. RIP, Baba. Siyabonga kakhulu 🙏
Such a sad day today hearing about the passing of Johnny. A titanic musician & human being who will forever remind us all of how we should be proud to be South African.
Found myself breaking down at work. Rest in Peace good sir. I can't even begin to describe how your music has made me feel. Safe Crossing, hope we meet on the other side.
I lived in Kenya for 25 years. Am now back in Australia. I cannot give up my SA music addiction. Arno, Parlotones, Just Jinjer. Johnny Clegg is on the list and so many more. I do not understand why SA music hasn't penetrated the Australian music scene. It is so much better than much of what we have here.
Almost 5 years, he greatly influenced my perspective on life when I was just a 12 year old boy. A lot of years ago. this song shows what South Africa could and always should have been.
I am French and I always loved Johnny Clegg and South Africa so much. This song gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it. I love to sing it too. God bless South Africa, may Johnny Clegg and Madiba rest in peace for ever.
