Opera house with is featured at the beginning and throught video is destroyed by Russian fighter jets with hundreds of civilians inside. 75% of buildings are leveled to the ground by rockets and altirely. Hundreds of people are dead on the streets and under rubble. City has been bombarded for a month!
I know nothing can ease the pain of war. It is difficult to express hope in times like this without risking to trivialize the situation. However, I think is important to remember people will endure, we always do; and this beautiful city will eventually recover its splendor. I know it will. I hope the best to the good people of the gorgeous city of Mariupol.
I was born in Mariupol, 1994. This is very difficult to see. Last time I was there was in 2013. Left August 2013 couple months before Maidan. Beautiful city and very close to heart, I still have relatives there, that we are helping out. Hope peace comes soon.

For what it's worth, Sarajevo was destroyed in the 90s and is a beautiful, vibrant city once again. It will take years, but Mariupol will be rebuilt one day.

Не был он красивым. Это с коптера он симпатично смотрелся. Посмотрите фото нормальным планом: грязный, запущенный, дорог нет, все постройки, кроме бутиков - советские не о рестоврированные здания. Как ВСУ в мае 14 туда зашли, так город и забросили. Вообще города в Донецкой и Луганской областях забросили. Разве что Крамоторск и Артемовск держали в относительном порядке.

This city has survived wars and strife, it had houses that have witnessed the Tzars, the Soviets - and now it's almost gone. That history cannot be rebuilt. Whatever city will rise up in place of destroyed Mariupol will be a new city, not the same one. The legacy and history of our shared culture are destroyed irreversibly.
The Christmas trees, the concerts, the kids playing in the fountain. The beauty this city had. It makes me sad and it makes me think. I knew nothing about Ukrain untill this war. During recent days, every time when there is a news pop up for Ukraine, I always locate the place where the news comes from on Google map. By using the street view, I see smiling people walking in streets, I see black soil aside quiet rivers, I see blue sky over the endless sea surface... However that are all gone, there are only gun fire and death now. What a crime they did! Everyone in this world should stand up to help Ukrainian, if you don' t want to live in a world like Ukraine today.

I’m heartbroken. I couldn’t understand why anyone would stay when the war started. It seems so foolish now. Even the old should have been carried out if necessary to save them all. Ive seen hundreds of authentic interviews of civilians who survived in the underground shelters of Mariupol who stated that the Ukrainian Azov battalion would not let citizens through the checkpoints to exit the city. They needed the citizens as a human shield. They even destroyed bridges and pedestrian bridges so no one could leave.

Не был он красивым. Это с коптера он симпатично смотрелся. Посмотрите фото нормальным планом: грязный, запущенный, дорог нет, все постройки, кроме бутиков - советские не о рестоврированные здания. Как ВСУ в мае 14 туда зашли, так город и забросили. Вообще города в Донецкой и Луганской областях забросили. Разве что Крамоторск и Артемовск держали в относительном порядке.

I disagree. This city has survived wars and strife, it had houses that have witnessed the Tzars, the Soviets - and now it's almost gone. That history cannot be rebuilt. I knew nothing about Ukrain untill this war. During recent days, every time when there is a news pop up for Ukraine, I always locate the place where the news comes from on Google map. By using the street view, I see smiling people walking in streets, I see black soil aside quiet rivers, I see blue sky over the endless sea surface... However that are all gone, there are only gun fire and death now.
What a crime they did! Everyone in this world should stand up to help Ukrainian, if you don' t want to live in a world like Ukraine today.

I’m heartbroken. I couldn’t understand why anyone would stay when the war started. It seems so foolish now. Even the old should have been carried out if necessary to save them all. Now I understand why so many stayed behind. Imagine growing up in this beautiful city. I understand why they had faith their city wouldn’t be destroyed and wanted to stay home. It’s just so sad. Ive seen hundreds of authentic interviews of civilians who survived in the underground shelters of Mariupol who stated that the Ukrainian Azov battalion would not let citizens through the checkpoints to exit the city. They needed the citizens as a human shield. They even destroyed bridges and pedestrian bridges so no one could leave.
