Carol Movie CLIP - Strange Girl (2015) - Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara Movie HD
Set in 1950s New York, a department-store clerk who dreams of a better life falls for an older, married woman.
Its crazy how much Rooney reminds me of Audrey Hepburn.
T Tsoncheva funny you say that since one of Blanchett's most famous performances was that of Katherine Hepburn :)
+T Tsoncheva The first time I saw her, I thought she was Audrey Hepburn.
YESSSSSS thank you!
true true true
+T Tsoncheva Especially in the end with the shorter haircut.
Rooney Mara is too beautiful. She's fragile, but not like glass where if you drop it it will shatter. More so like a flower, and you don't want to squash it because it will disrupt its beauty.
TheGabrielmugue I concur. She's extremely versatile. I want to watch this film already.
oh my god I love your comment, and the fact it's not about boners. Precious observation.
There should be more lesbian movies. I can't get enough of lesbian movies.
Are you a lesbian or is there another reason?
It's about time we had a quality lesbian flick where you could cut the sexual tension with a knife. There's something about the build-up and anticipation in gay drama that has always captivated me.
+Echak Mendes SCAM! BEWARE!
+Tom Ripley I know....Great Movie, I liked cathing the h=glances and the expressions after the "casual" touch of the hand or shoulder.
I know because i'm sick of the typicall stereotype of being gay but this is such a wonderful movie!
Tom Ripley •Captivated•
Is so different from the regular "boy meet girl" situations in all movies. You can feel the interest, the tension, the caution to not reading the situation wrong, lots of stuff in a cute, heartwarming scene with touches of sexual tension.
I find this clip oddly relaxing, i've watched it a thousand times
+Abdo Esper So do I. And the reason is clear: Blanchet's hypnotic voice.
+Lucy Fer Agreed. I could listen to Cate Blanchett read the phone book, the washing machine manual etc. and be utterly enraptured.
Streep aside, for me, the two Great leading actress of our time: Kate & Cate. Winslet and Blanchet. There may be some other talented, superb actresses but these two ladies are beyond words. (Streep owns her own temple)
+Lucy Fer +Abdo Esper : I think you've both nailed it.
+Abdo Esper Me too! Replay replay replay
I think Cate Blanchett has the ability to express her role in such a unique way, in her face, her gesture, her wrinkles..surprisingly, it all works. A great artist is the one who makes the audience feel what they feel in the plot
look at their gazes I just can't
Blanchett and Mara. Can't find a more sophisticated pair anywhere. rooting for this movie!
I don't know how many times I've watched this clip. *swooning*
Every detail of the acting here is majestic. From the depth of their speech to the way they handle cutlery... I can't take my eyes off it. Definitely putting this on my watch list!
Give Todd Haynes who also directed the Timepiece Movie Far From Heaven with Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid their props. He and PT Anderson (Boogie Nights & Phantom Thread) are wizards of the highest order when doing timepiece movies.
lmfao why is rooney swallowing her spinach like that? she must have been "starved" also.
Kate Kulinski I also find this’s so cute too. ❤️
MariMal96 she was so nervous
cate blanchett is a master
rooney can really pass off for an audrey hepburn biopic. i like her. she has this grace, accent and maturity that is also reminiscent of audrey.
I'm dying to see the movie.. but too bad that the release is until december, fucking Weinstein Company 😒✊
You said it sister.
Mariana Anselmo Greatest things take time ;)
Update: YAY!! the movie is going to be out now in November 20th.
Mariana Anselmo whoa, whoa, whoa! As in, in America right??? What about the land down under??
i dunno :( hope they changed the dates over there too, for now it's only for the U.S because it's pretty obvious that is for awards season..
Cate is sheer brilliance, critics are already saying its better than blue jasmine! It screams Oscar all over the place!
What's the song in the background at the end it sounds very familiar!
Dubshakra I believe its the original film score...composed by Carter Burwell
Better than Blue Jasmine? I don't know if anyone is saying that, since many are saying that Rooney Mara is the one more likely to win an Oscar for this film.
kellenabner Many are saying that it is either equal to or better than her performance in Blue Jasmine. The reason the majority are saying that Rooney Mara is more likely to get an Oscar is because her performance is just as good as Cate's and she hasn't yet won an Oscar whereas Cate won that award not too long ago, her second at that.
wilros2277 They're saying that it's very likely that the weinstein company is gonna campaign for Mara in supporting actress categories & Blanchett for Lead actress
the opposite is possible but less liekly
CheikhT Or both could possibly be nominated in the leading category.
Both Cate and Rooney are brilliant... Rooney needs to chew her food...
I almost choked from laughing reading your comment.
Therese says " I hardly know what to order for lunch" and she asked the same food and drink Carol asked. To me ig was like she never had creamed spinach before and didn' t know how to eat it. Kind of funny but the film is so solemn and serious, kke people during the 1950's didn' t have silly fun?
That's what I was saying when I first saw her eat that way. I'm mean, she practically swallowed the spinach like if it was soup?! Lmfao
+tita adorno I kind of like the way that the camera didn't show them eating like they're really starved like Carol said.(I'm starved...😋)
I guess the cameraman was busy capturing their gestures, glances that's why all we could see was their insanely good chemistry which was great😍!
Sweet Hallelujah idk under Carol's gaze i don't really blame Therese for being so nervous
Big fan of Cate Blanchett... i want to watch this movie. :')
God!!! I love cate Blanhett's calm & sweet voice in this scene. can't wait to see this film. Plus Blanchett & Rooney Mara are said to have delivered absolutely resonnant & stellar perdormances.
Really looking forward to watch this! wish December were tomorrow
I fcking died then came back to life after watching this clip..
I love Cate Blanchett and I love Rooney Mara even more now.
Who wouldn't?
If Cate Blanchett is not the best actress out there, she's surely one of the very best among her peers.
As for Rooney, she was a revelation in the Dragon Tattoo movie and look she's even better in CAROL.
No wonder she's honoured with the best actress in Cannes, people say French people have good tastes and I guess it's true....
rooney is fucking gorgeous
This scene is so intense ...i cant get enough of it
Cate Blanchett
Aww, they cut off the part with Kumail the waiter.
This movie was the best lesbian romance my husband and I ever watched. Both actresses were top notch and so beautiful. We both already are big fans of Blanchett and Rooney just was soooo pretty. They just need more masterpieces like that movie.
I can't wait to see this movie! God,I can't even....Cate Blanchett is the best,just love her ♥♥♥
QUEEN CATE...
This movie is so freakin good --- saw it at Cannes ;)
My neiborgh goes to Cannes every year, she is in the industry, DVD production. You go on your own, it' s expensive.
This is a great movie...watched it many times!
Me too, I've lost counts.
First viewing, I had my eyes glued to Cate Blanchett,
Another viewing, I had my eyes glued to Rooney Mara,
Another viewing, looking closely at the gorgeous cinematography,
Another viewing, looking closely at the fabulous costume and production designs,
Another viewing, indulging myself in the hauntingly beautiful scores,
Another viewing, trying to read all the gestures, glances and figuring out the words unsaid,
CAROL is such an exquisite film that needs several viewings to see the beauty within.
Completely agree -- the complexity and synchronicity of all the elements in this film is too much to handle in a first or second viewing. This film is an artistic masterpiece that needs to be enjoyed again and again.
vanizorc Todd Haynes is such a genius and I love his work!
I loved the book, can't wait for this film. I absolutely love Cate Blanchett!
This clip got me to read the book. Now i'm about halfway done and it's just getting better and better. Can't wait for this movie to come out.
I wonder why they cut the flung out of space bit
Where? It is not cut, it' s identical to the book.
I love Cate Blanchett
I can't wait... really! it's look fantastic!
I cannot wait to watch this movie. Gonna be bloody amazing!
Cate Blanchett should’ve won the academy. She’s really great in this movie
i want the trailer now :(
Land this plane, Carol. Land it!
Cate is so stunning in general but this movie just hypnotizes me.
The soundtrack is relaxing
i just keep thinking of the Kate McKinnon version of this scene and i cant appreciate the beauty anymore because i crack up
Carol's definitely got Therese Syndrome here, too.
Wish I had Carol’s courage to talk to girls 😂
I dunno why but when Therese swallows after asking why it’s just so funny to me 😂
Iconic scene
This is the 1950s, you'e blowing my mind!
Can anyone recognize the jazz song that's playing in the background during the conversation?
I saw the Premiere and then another time. Its so delicate, so introspective and so glamourous that its amazing to see this kind of high level production making sucssex among those boring war movies that became a mark of american cinema. I love Cate B. playng carol. Sutile, lovelly, amazing actress. I love her! Mme. Mara is a good surprise for me that, unfortunatelly didn't know her work. Congrats for all from Brazil. Pat
Definitely check out Fincher's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", with Rooney as the main character Lisbeth.
she is an angel and cate need to find a spy.... strong r o le to win..... third oscar pray....for
These two actors acts effortless..Maybe because.they were both great actors. Wish there will be Carol Part 2.
Is she the stepmother in cinderella movie?
Kevin Le yes she is!
***** Oh :o I thought she is new
***** I was born in 95 :). Well you don't have to reply. Thanks for the answer though. I know that I have access to the internet, I just didn't want to. You don't have to give me a long reply lol. Plus other people already answer it.
Haha. Thanks! :) I keep that in mind
fusock oh wow :D
Carol
I wish this movie would on the cinema in Thailand
This movie looks amazing; I just finished the book.
Is the book easy to find? Other than Amazon?
+ana martinez That's a good question... I bought my copy from Amazon. I would assume that yes, it should be easier to find now because it's a movie tie-in. The title is either just "Carol", or "The Price of Salt".
Found it right here as audiobook it' s gorgeous to listen to with eyes close. Mahbe I find it yet
In the book, isn't that what Carol says after they have sex the first time? "What a strange girl. Flung out of space."
***** She says: "My angel. Flung out of space."
Still makes this scene epic! :)
***** Yes, I hope Carol will use the metaphor twice in the film as she does in the novel, it is quite beautiful. :)
No. The first time carol says flung out of space is in their first lunch date. after their first sex, carol says "my angel, flung out of space.
Well, thank you, both in clips and the movie I saw 3 days ago, I didn t understand what Carol said, I don t think she said when they had sex.
🔥😍❤️
what did she say at 00:51 ??? thanks
noblandit Flung out of space
0:41 the way she says yes HAHA 😂
I'm reading the book (The Price of Salt) right now and it's so amazing seeing them portray this scene so accurately.
Rooney Mara, those are some famous football names.....off to wiki
Some parts of this movie was made in my hometown Alexandria KY!
OH GOSH NOW I'AM SO IN LOVE WITH ROONEY MARA.
Well Rotten Tomaters gives this a 90+ rating but there was NO story in this trailer =))
It's not a trailer
I think there are some places where this movie was already shown. like in cannes, so there are reviews already.
this is not a trailer.
Michelle Lawrence
Trailer or clip, what;s the diff?? =)
WolfyNugget
Clip or trailer , what's the diff?? =)
[dies in lesbian]
Oscar bait
Blanchett does not have a beautiful face. Take away the makeup, and you will find a plain-looking woman. She is a good and versatile actress, however.
Paul Sandberg Watching this clip, I realized that Cate looks 1000x better without eye makeup/lipstick. I honestly thought she was gorgeous as Galadriel (in LOTR and years later in The Hobbit). The heavier makeup doesn't do her justice.
Paul Sandberg She is extremely charismatic, people often confuse charisma with physical beauty, but some of the most charismatic actresses like Meryl Streep,Julianne Moore or Julia Roberts are physically very ''ugly''.
sigmund grizli , I think her cultivated accent (virtually British, although she is Australian) gives her a certain presence or charisma.
Paul Sandberg She is like a force of nature, and I am suprised that she never played lesbian before, because of her facial features and masculine energy.
Paul Sandberg She has an interesting face, to say the least. But being an actress, it has worked to her advantage. Like others have said, she is ridiculously charismatic. This woman could act out an automobile manual and make it engaging.
I'm not feeling Blanchett in this role. She oozes too much cunning and fierce for a woman in that kind of situation. Julianne Moore would've been a much better fit.
+Collidewiththesky12 I agree. Cate totally fits with Carol based on the book.
+HabituallyObsessed You must be joking. She will be amazing!
Come on!! You read the book and Carol is Cate or Cate is Carol. She is perfect for this role. Also, we see Julianne kiss girls many times. If Cate is nominate for this movie it's for something. Anyway, sorry for my english
I saw the movie 3 days ago. I have not read the movie and wish I knew nothing about the plot (gay) wished it was a total surprise. Carol came across to me as a lonely woman, she is trying to divorce- why she married knowing her preferences?-- we are told she had a lesbian affair when young with Abby her best friend. She is nervious maybe desperate? When she sees this pretty thing girl in the toy department. However, she doesn' t persue her, she forgot her elegant expensive gloves and Therese mailed ghem to her. To me she is not cunning, she is trapped in a loveless marriage without options and met this girl. I have not read the book, this is my take on the movie character.
But I don't understand. Did you like it or not? jaajaj Sorry I haven't seen the film yet :( but I really lilke Cate as Carol. Anyway, I have to see the film to give my opinion
cant wait to see the movie
