    Damn hella nice i was surpised to see the build at the end whole bunch of "utility" skills. Ive never made an end game gunlance set up is that pretty standard? Im just always used to seeing Attack Boost, Critical eye, Agitator, etc. Or does the maxed out artillery basically give you enough DPS that you dont need those skills

      It's matchup and playstyle dependent. The thing with Safi is that it has this gimmick of having a tough hide that you need to get part breaks off on and repeatedly tenderize to get the most out of your attacks. Shelling doesn't care about tenderize, so I can rely on it for good consistent damage and since Artillery 5 + Capacity Up is a lot cheaper than stacking damage skills, I'm able to slot in a lot more for utility which by extension also helps me with my offensive uptime (I don't get tremored by kicks, maximum mantle uptime lets me keep on the offensive, etc.) I usually advocate for this immortal wide shell poke playstyle on things that have bad raw hitzones and just overall annoying gimmicks like Safi and Luna. You can still get a lot of mileage as well on your slaplance setups but in a solo single run siege it's a lot harder to commit your heavy hits especially since Safi keeps turning towards you and all on top of needing to break parts (of which the wyrmstake has trouble doing with a reduced partbreak modifier) and it repeatedly healing tenderized parts.

      Holy molly this is a hell of an explanation. Thanks man, this video+comment couldn't have come at a better time.
      I do have a question, do you think it would be worth it to go with a Long GL? I heard the Charged shells have a higher Partbreak modifier, but I don't wanna waste slots on Focus.

      @@eclipzex77 Personally I wouldn't recommend Long due to there not being any Long 7 Gunlance in world. Long also falls somewhere between Wide and Normal in terms of its commit, however against something like Safi the extra range helps to still land hits when it turns. There should be another Safi siege clear with Gunlance somewhere on RUclips that used Long. But yeah you'd have to invest in focus, at that point I think it's more of a preference thing or you can look towards resources for number crunching since I'm biased against Long haha
      Of course in optimal and ideal play Fatalis Gunlance still outperforms anything though lol

    Solo al comienzo del juego utice esa arma, puedes hacer una lanza pistola para derrotar a fatalis?

    • @azzygl
      @azzygl  7 месяцев назад +1

      Lo siento si mi discurso es malo, estoy usando un traductor. La construcción que utilizo para luchar contra Fatalis también utiliza Fatalis engranaje. Si quieres algo para Fatalis sin usarlo, hay algunas personas que han hecho videos sobre ello como Caoslayer.

    Fatty gunlace with wyvernstake and burst shoots couls work like this aswell?

    • @azzygl
      @azzygl  7 месяцев назад +1

      You could do it, just your wyrmstake is not going to do a lot of damage until phase 3 supercritical and you'll have trouble landing your full bursts because of how Safi keeps turning

    I just watched you poke a dragon's toes with an explosive toothpick until it died for almost 19 minutes. I dunno what I was expecting from GL, but I'm also not not disappointed. Gunlance is cool in concept but I find in gameplay it looks highly underwhelming. That being said, I've never played it much myself. Either way it was kind of an eye opener, nice kill.

      Pokeshell is the simplest and least flashy of the gunlance playstyles. Unfortunately Safi's gimmick of being a shitzone means this ends up being somewhat more effective than those playstyles

    I will never understand how gunlance works or what is the difference between shellings

      From an MHW FAQ
      Normal has generally weak shelling, but lots of them (5-6). There are a few moves that blow all of your shells at once, and that’s what you want to use with normal. Generally extremely high dps when you can pull it off, but it’s riskier and more likely to get you interrupted somewhere down the line.
      Wide favors a simple fire poke loop. It has a very small count of shells (2-3), but each shell hits hard with little to no conditions. Just fire the shell, poke to maintain your position, and fire again.
      Long is used for charged shelling. After an action, you can hold the shelling button, and it’ll power up the shell. You can cancel this into a dodge or aim it up or down while charging. Long features a moderate number of shells (3-4). The modifiers on long shelling in general make it middle of the road if you would like to experiment with either wide or normal without investing in wide or normal, but charged shelling will be ideal. Use focus 3. Long shelling also has more range, which is further extended by charging the shell.
      There are damage modifiers on all shelling types and all of the different shelling moves act differently based on these modifiers. In general, you lose damage using a shell outside of its intended style, but there may be reasons to do so. For wide, apparently charged shells get a larger partbreak modifier. Bursts are kinda bad though. For normal, a single shell doesn’t bounce, and will let you do a combo to get to a burst without bouncing, even if you have to hit a hard part of a monster. Shell, quick reload, slam, burst, sweep, quick reload. Long kinda does it all, it actually isn’t super weak for the other shelling types, but it is still weaker than wide at single shells, and weaker than normal at bursts. Using a single shell can be a good idea leading into a charged shell.
      I use a para GL for long shelling. I’ll para a monster if I need to, but otherwise, I’m just shelling, and it doesn’t apply status on shells.
      Wide can be decent at applying status, blast will get more damage, para and sleep may have trouble proccing.
      normal definitely has trouble proccing para or sleep, just use blast.
