Scott Cemetery and the old hidden cemetery behind it, Ransom, Kentucky

- There is a lot of confusion about who's buried where in these hills and hollers, Misinformation on find a grave website makes it even worse. We got a request from a friend to do this cemetery. She knows some of the people, and is a Hatfield descendant of George Goff Hatfield. We wanted to document who's really at this cemetery. We also found a hidden old cemetery behind it called the Old Hager or Dials branch cemetery, Not to be confused with the other Hager cemetery down the road.
Please keep our friend Georgia, who gave us this idea, in your prayers, for healing. It would be appreciated.

Gravestones written by hand touch my heart. Thank you for showing a photo of the person belonging with the grave.

Omg Leo somebody needs to clean this old graveyard up.and make a better path to get there.
Beautiful
Love this, so glad I found you.
I think if she were vicious she would have been barking & growling at the car door. You were brave to get out. I'm so glad you didn't get eaten up. Great find in the woods. No one can ever say you are not diligent & persistent good work again.
This reminds me of a cemetery back in Ohio I lived in the early 80s, it was up on a hill! Chaffins I think was the name! But no one ever visited & it was so overgrown. That’s crazy how you brought those memories back! Great video! 🫶🏻❤️🫶🏻
I didn’t think Ohio had any hills! 😂
Leo, I appreciate your videos. I appreciate Heather working so hard behind the scenes. You may have seen some of my relatives. My grandma was a Combs. I’m related to the Patricks and the Scotts. I also am related to the Hoovers. One of my great grandfathers was Dan Scott. He is buried in Floyd County Kentucky.
Nice cemetery ! Glad you found the graves in the woods. Very interesting.
Happy Easter !
Glad you enjoyed it
My Grandmother was a Scott ❤️ her branch moved on to the Ozark Mountains before the Feud.
Ty very interesting. God bless you and your family.
Wow , Great work Leo !!! ❤❤❤ ...
Thank you
Happy Easter Leo and Heather
Very cool!!!
I checked and I was unscribed also. I I have been on you guys channel for years and I was dropped. I am glad I checked. Now every time I watch a video I will check. Love you guys
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks, a shame those graves are so hidden 😢🇺🇸
That second sight was you think there'd still be remnants of a wagon trail or some sort of road still. I'm sure they didn't just track through the woods with a casket. They had to bring the stones up with oxen I would imagine. They didn't carry those stones up that hill. Great work as usual.
Leo, you have such exciting adventures trying to find or in a cemetery. Beautiful area in Kentucky for a cemetery. Well, of course, what cemetery would you visit that is not on the side of a mountain Leo? Hal~! God Bless your little heart. Thank you for this exciting adventure.
Hey from Memphis. Thanks for y’all’s work. I just hope all the dogs Leo comes across are as ferocious as this girl was.
Leo, have you tried laying a small pinlight flashlight, against the side of the headstone, and shining it across the names on the headstone. It's works, very well, for reading some of these old headstones. By the way, I really enjoy your channel!
I am glad you mentioned this. I was going to say that i carry a superbright flashlight (they have some pretty small ones) And it's amazing how it works when you hold like you mentioned. I think i learned it from a RUclips video. You hold it at the corner and shine it across the face of the stone from the side and it makes the letters jump right out.
Beautiful scenery. Both cemeteries are interesting, Scott cemetery seems to be well cared for. It is great, that you found the graves you were looking for, and that you documented several other graves.
Great video, thank you very much Leo and Heather. Have a great day today 😊
Omg glad you left with both legs attached Leo..lol. i would havent even gotten out of the car.thanks for all your effort!
Good one Leo!
My grandmother is a Scott!❤
Great vlog. Thank you both for bringing these forgotten cemeteries to us. I wish the people who lived there to just clear the land. These people who were buried there should be given respect, by even clearing the area. I know if I lived there, I would have done this many years ago!
So cooool!!!
Leo, can't believe you found that graveyard. How did you know which way to go? Amazing!! Then Heather could find a needle in a haystack wither pc!!!Thanks for another great vlog!😊
Thank You Leo and Heather!!!!!! Start carrying some dog treats. Deer Droppings!!!!!!
Good Girl , don't bite Leo !
WOW! So cool
Leo Ballard Smith is my great grandpa on my grandma side
Wow , that's amazing ❤❤❤ ...
It would be nice to find a name for DAD and put a new plate on it. Thanks for the cool video, Leo.
You should carry a box of Milk Bones with you!
As an animal lover and someone who just has to pet and love on every animal I come across and make sure they're okay if they're a stray you NOT petting that doggie should be illegal 💕🐶🤣
Lol. I new you was going to walk up the hill to find it!
I love your videos keep it up be careful your like me older just kidding
Hey Leo and Heather ,been watching yall a while now and really enjoy the history, the lost graveside you finds and bring back . Subscribe today with yall . Leo, sometimes on those old Graves you are trying to read if you take a flashlight and shine on the name it will help bring the letters out so you can make them out ...Big Wave and Smile to yall!!!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Y'ALL
Highly interesting. My stepmother was born & raised in KY. Married my Dad, traveled around the US, as he was in the military. She died in Fayetteville, NC, but wanted to be buried in KY. Not far from Somerset, KY. Oct of 1969. I was very young though i do remember this: After the funeral, the hearse could only drive so far to the hillside graveyard. It took 6 people to get her casket up on top of that hill & we walked for some time. I would dearly love to know the location of that graveyard! Her name was Thelma May (Mae?) Hall Peoples. Any information would be appreciated!
Man you got some good eyes if you can see that for
You should have treats to bribe our four-legged friends so you can pass by safely. 😉

Is this located at Dial’s Branch.
Yes, It's one of the last ones up the holler.
I fou d out rthat you can sprsy shaving cream on those hard to read tombstones ad yhen rise themeithwater. It does hurt them.
It doesn't hurt the tombstones! Sorry. I can't use a phone keypad!😮
My miiddle name is Fern like the plant. Doing my family genealogy showed me how illterate people were trying to spell names from other countries.
Any Mc Curdys out there?
Did those folk in hill top forgotten cemeteries keep a log of at least names of those interred or better yet names as well? I suppose that even if they did, they're probably lost to fire, flood, or war😢
Maybe in family Bibles?
Or lost after a few generations.
@@thehillbillyfiles My Daddy always said you are Remembered for 2 to 3 Generations ....unless Famous, I guess .
IMO, most yoeman farmers could not read nor write. Some did keep marriages and deaths in the family Bibles. I have never seen the gravesites listed in Bibles.
