  • Lost Lives episode 8
In this video we search for Hatfield and McCoy feud patriarch, Randall McCoy's little sister Ruth (Reece) McCoy Farley, who died 5 days after her young daughter Minnie and is buried in Curry cemetery in Elk Creek, West Virginia. We also try and find the daughter Minnie and Ruth's husband William Anse Farley, who was a Civil war Logan wildcat. Strangely, they all died in March.
    The cemetery is here www.findagrave...

There is a saying in genealogy research:

Every time you go looking for a lost person they live again.

What a wonderful sight to behold Leo! West Virginia, my native state. A beautiful state with all of the grand mountains, beautiful forests, and lakes. You and Heather are doing such a great job with your research. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them particularly the cemeteries. I chuckle every time I have watched you climb up a mountain or walk up 100 steps to a cemetery. This sounds like another interesting cemetery. I was in Delbarton many, many years ago, but didn't go on to Elk Creek. WV is known for its country churches surrounded by tombstones. People who live in the midwest and west have no clue about a "holler." I had someone on another channel to ask me "What is a holler?" I shared the same information with that viewer as you just mentioned, just different words. Oh, I am glad that you found the cemetery. I wonder if people are still worshipping in that beautiful old church. Thank you Leo and Heather for another great historic adventure.
