    Situational awareness and self reliance are good bets. I use a pair of 80lb, Purina powered, alarms. They're enabled 24/7, portable and so effective that you can't get near a door without waking everyone up (often, to my chagrin). Then, they give me the few seconds needed to activate my 5.56mm intrusion denial system. Average police response time at my location is 22minutes. That's too long for them to help, but enough time for the dust to settle and to have a pot of coffee ready when they arrive.

My favorite are the bulletproof file cabinets. LOL! They have wheels that lift up when not needed by a foot lever/release, have the back and one side in thick steel, enough to stop most shells, so that in a bad situation, they can be wheeled to the doors and windows to block them and shield students/people. Sounds silly but every office should have those. LOL!

      Until someone slips a box cutter or rifle barrel into the gap in the door...I actually really like the design, too, if they used plastic covered braided steel cable instead of kevlar string I bet it would cost less and would be almost impossible to cut thru, even with something like bolt cutters or power tools.
      Kevlar loses more than half it's strength after 5 or 6 years at the very longest, if there is lots of moisture, heat, cold or and uv light on it, it may lose half it's strength and functionality after only a couple years of service, another problem that would be solved by using steel cable instead

    it's always seemed to me that The Best Way to lock a door, really securely, would be to use The method that battle ships use; with locking pins that go all The way around The door, ( internally so that The door looks 'normal' ) ? This method should also look & work just like an 'ordinary' door. All of these 'Hacks' require a considerable amount of 'fudging' & 'twiddling' to get these 'locks into place & 'set' them ! '!'

    Mesh is good against slashing and bashing, but crap against stabbing. You don't need fancy gadgets to secure a door from the inside, a cheap doorstop will hold a door closed as well as open, and a screw screwed between the door and frame works just as good as any lock, just keep an electric screwdriver handy.

    • @matthewchapman4107
      @matthewchapman4107 4 года назад +2

      No it’s not. The fact of the matter is that with the rope in place, if the shooter even managed to get their gun through the door they would have an extremely limited range of movement, allowing everyone inside to get to one side. The rope is made from Kevlar and so unless the shooter is carry industrial cutting equipment it cannot be cut.
