I just installed an 11 camera Lorex system, expandable up to 16. You have done a much better job of explaining the features than the Lorex tech support. They could not explain Threshold in any way that made any sense. Well done. What I find is that blocking out the street, so that I do not pick up every car that passes by, does not work well at night. Despite totally blocking out the street, about 30% of the cars that drive by set it off. So, I had to manually tilt my cameras down so that they can't see the street at all and the false alarms stopped.
I have found that even though you can block the street the headlights will mange to shine into your zones and still set them off. If you have done all you can with the controls making a physical adjustment will be best bet. I have mine setup with multiple zones so that way if a car hits zone 1 and I get a notification I typically would By look until something hits zone two and three which are fourth we from my road and closer to house. I have 2 cameras on front of house and doorbell if I get hits on all the zones I know for sure somebody is there
Thanks, I had a heck of a time trying to get the past recording off the hard drive, after hitting the scissor I didn’t know there were two points to adjust until I zoomed out on the timeline.
Thanks! Covered many things I'd struggled with over the past month or so before I figured them out on my own. YOu explained those really well. One thing that I asked Lorex about is how to not showing unused channels. I have an 8 analog/4 IP Fusion DVR which replaced a 4 camera no-longer-supported-by-the-manufacturer analog (BNC) system. The Lorex DVR uses channels 1-4 for the analog cameras and I added 4 IP cameras, but they use channels 9-12. Unfortunately, on the main HDMI display, it shows the first 4 (BNC) channels, then 4 blank channels (5-9) and then the 4 IP channels (9-12). I'd like it to show only the 8 in-use channels and not the unused channels. Doable?
Thanks for the video, good answers to the questions, I just bought a second system fusion system from Costco (on Sale this week:), but I did notice you had mentioned that you need to hook up the HDMI for initial setup, once you set the password you can hookup to the network and manage the system from the web page. I have a place that I just installed these cameras that is about 100 miles from my residence and I monitor this property via MIFI hotspot. I did have 4 cameras from my last system recording to a NAS and two rings spotlight cams, but had a lady try and get in the place (arrested) so I invested in a NVR and more cameras. The kit also came with two door sensors and motion detection. Turns out that when I go over my limit on bandwidth I can still monitor and get alerts over the slow 600kbs VPN link, though slow I still get the security aspect. The new cameras seem like they are rock solid for the cost per camera@4k, and the old cameras have held up well to the over 120F temps for the last two years in the California Desert. Each camera has a web server so I can adjust the IPS zones easier. Anyway Thanks again!
Hey Rick, I have two issues with my Lorex camera system. One, When I Look to the system the video footage is delayed. I would look at the front door camera and it will be showing me someone coming to the house and yet the person's already been in the house for like 2 to 3 minutes already. And that's what it does record. And that's the second issue most times it stops recording
Hi Rick. Glad I watched the video. It answered questions that I had and also didn't think to ask, but happy the subjects were brought up. The number 10 question was really good because I had wrote to you about a drive by shooter who drove past my house and all I saw was a red blur. I will adjust the settings on one camera to see if 30fps at 5mp is better then 15fps at 8mp. Maybe next time I will get a better look at any suspicious car passing by at night. Thanks for the info! Glad I subscribed.
It's been one year, what did you find with the 4K 5 MP 30 fps? I have yet to buy my new LOREX system and want to know what will work and what won't. Thank you.
@@mrwebber35 So much to say after one year. 1) Your doorbell camera is your most used camera, so get a good one with quick notification times (wired preferred) 2) Get a good monitor, 4K preferred. There were too many times I tried zooming in and could not get detail. I think the fault is my monitor. 3) Get a camera as close as possible to the street. Very important. The effective range is about 30 feet from the camera. After that you start to lose detail. All of the bad stuff that has happened in my neighborhood has been street related. I am actually looking for a variable zoom camera that I can aim closer to the street to pick up license plates. 4) Your cameras won't pick up much at night, especially if it is a car thief racing past your cameras. 5) Get floodlights to help your cameras get more detail at night. Lighting is everything. More light, more detail 6) Before you buy ask your self many questions like "What is the easiest way to run the cable?" "What areas do I want to protect?" "Which direction(s) would a thief come to my house?" "How can I capture a picture of the guy who is stealing my catalytic convertor?" Lastly, this is a permanent change to the appearance of the house, buy the most expensive system you can afford because you want it to last and not worry about it for years to come. Over time the cost per day is pennies. I am sure I am missing something, but I hope this helps! Paul
Didn't find much information about this so asking it here. Are you currently outputting video to two monitors via a hdmi splitter or know if that can be done. If they are mirror image it's totally fine. Looking to add one monitor in the main room and one in the office room. Lorex said it can't be done but I think it can with a HDMI splitter. Thanks
Does the fusion "station" require a full "station" IE mouse/keyboard/Monitor or once the App is on the home computer, there is never a need to use a monitor connected to the NVR?
When someone says to me 4K 8MP 15 fps is "good enough for me" that really doesn't show us what is "good enough". I would like to see night vision at that resolution someone walking around. I see the blurry cars drive by so I know a license plate is never going to be seen but then I know it would be rare to know that information. Maybe hold a licence plate or some sign up while you are walking around and then zoom in on the recording to see how good it is. 30 fps is a setting at probably 1080P or possibly 4K 5 MP. I would like to see the difference. The reason I'm wondering is a different RUclips analysis of a NVR system showed 15 fps 4k 8 MP at night outside recorded blurry moving images of the guy walking around. Thank you.
Hey great videos, wondering if you could give a breakdown on storage. I am thinking of getting a 4k security system with 8 cameras I'm wondering how many days will I be able to store of constant recording if I have 4tb storage.
Only one person can be logged onto the app? When my wife logs in to view the cameras it logs me off. Is there a way to watch the cams from multiple devices? Like phones and iPads?
I have multiple Lorex cameras as my Lorex nvr died. Would I be able to somehow use Lorex cams if I buy blue iris and set it up on a separate PC, what equipment do I need to make this work?
Very informative video. Is it possible you can do a video on the Lorex cloud mobile application. It's not as good as the Lorex home app and can be a bit confusing. Thank you
If you have a zone set you can view events to help you go through footage quickly. If for example you didn’t have a zone set and you wanted to see who threw the garbage on your side walk you would have to scrub on phone. In that case I normally go to pc app and do a smart search where I can just make a virtual box on the sidewalk where the garbage is and nvr will scrub all footage and show me what has changed in that box.
I have a question; I want to connect my Lorex system to the internet to view remotely. The only option I have is to use a SIM-router option. That will be only feasible if it uses less than 4/5 gigs a month…wondering if it’ll work
Great video! Thank you!!! Do you know of any other app that can be used other than the Lorex Cloud App for IOS? Playback is horrible in this app it skips back in time and goes out of focus. The app reviews say it all in the Apple App Store for Lorex Cloud.
I have a lorex 8 camera 1080p for the outside of my house and I love it . So I bought another one 8 camera 1080p for the inside of my house can I add it to my same lorex app and how? Or can I download the same app for the new system?? Thank you please help..

In the Lorex web they side " if you have a NVR system you can connect a POE switch and add more camera"
Hi Rick, my lorax security cameras siren goes off all the time. None of the tech support able to help me. Can you please let me know how to disable all the cameras siren. I have to unplug my nvr to stop this annoying siren. Please explain. Thanks
I have not used Reolink yet, but have had 4 years of Lorex and have been very happy with it. I see them improving their products and rolling out new innovative products as well which I consider to be a good sign. My stuff has never failed and I consider it one of the most reliable smart things i have in my home. Not a direct comparison I know but thought I would respond.
@@RickvanderValk14 How did RUclips not notify me about this comment? Sorry about that. I hope my experience with Lorex will be as solid as yours. Lorex is the only brand that makes sense for me. I left a comment on your other Lorex video regarding the ghosting effect at night. Trying to see how to work around that at the minute. Holding off on a purchase. Also, sometimes I get sucked into being unnecessarily paranoid by reading reddit threads where everyone is bashing (in great depth) every security company, including Lorex... at which point I just feel hopeless after doing all that research! LOL! Reolink's night time ghosting on the 810A is so awful, and their cameras are not rated for Canadian weather, especially winter, not to mention their lack of thumbnail notifications and a boring user interface :(
Do you think I can run a live feed on a monitor for my retail store? Not playbacks but live feed so we can see people in store? thanks! great videos. helpful. close to purchasing!
Hi Rick, I recently got Lorex 4k NVR Model# N882A6 cameras but unable to view it remotely. I'm unable to view it on mobile data or public wifi. Lorex told me this model is P2P ready and does not require for port forwarding or DDNS. They said Lorex uses IPv4 only. Is there any recommendations as my goal is to view them remotely. (BTW, I use Lorex cloud). Any suggestions? thank you
Great video, when setting up an email alert and entering my personal account for a second time, under "interval time" it does not let me type my account again, any suggestions
You partially answered a good question I have been wanting answered but not the point, how low sensitivity is low. The system I have right that I'm about to trash has on average (average) 500 hits a night on its lowest settings. How low and bad is the sensitivity with the people/vehicle motion sensing on Lorex, is it good or bad. Other then this you have real made good videos and helping my choose. Thanks
It really depends on your environment, sorry i know shitty answer....Trees, weather, busy roads etc can really impact even lower sensitivity settings. I set pretty specific zones and consider some more important than others. For example if you walk up to my front door and get near it i get a notification. Most weather/environmental things dont affect that zone so i know when i get a notification its probably a person there. VS my cameras overlooking the driveway. They are a bit more busy because of stuff going on. Funny thing is that I use a multi tier approach, if i get notified on one camera and not another I can sometimes disregard it because I know if its a person for example they would cross multiple cameras and zones...its about tweaking it to work for you.
in the applications (Mobile app, PC App,) you can hit a button to listen and also one to speak. It depends on what system you bought and the types of cameras on the two way audio.

Front of house faces north, south side gets back sun exposure. However, I live in MI and it gets -30F in the winter and no sun. I have outlets outside. Suggestions on a brand or brands that would work for my concerns. No lag between movements, leaves blowing creating false alerts, sunlight making the camera unable to see. I'm thinking wired is best at this point. I don't want to drill holes through my walls or floors either though.

Hello, Rick i recently purchased a “smart” nvr system for wired Lorex camera do I need to worry about manually deleting older files or does it do it automatically?
I turned 0ff my alert notice being I was getting too many false alerts. At times it tells me that someone is in my locked garage when no one is there, maybe it picks up ghost. Last night it alerted me that someone was on my deck, it turned out to be a cat. Sometimes it thinks a person is a car. BTW if you want good night vision in color, get a motion advanced light or leave a light on. I give the system 4 Starts being it doesn’t know the difference between People, Vehicles, Animals, Moving Shadows, Trees or Bushing moving in the wind
Hi, When I export video footage it has so many files. How do I get the least amount of files on the USB drive? The reason is that I have cameras set up on my tennis courts and players purchase the footage of their match. I noticed that if I export using the DAV file I can combine the files. If I want to export using the MP4 fromat it will not combine. So I have to take this file and put it in another program to combine into one file. It would be great if I could export a 2 to 3 hour match and just give the info to the player without having to convert it in another program. (if I change the settings to a different resolution will I get less files?)
I have question. I have 16ch lorex 4k nvr after changing the parameter on camera nvr stall. I reset lorex and is not booting. And every 5min is resetting and starts again. This is brand new system. Do you have any solution for this?
Great Video and detail, can you help explained under the Lorex Cloud and Camera Setting, when you click on the camera you will see a Manual Add Box and there's a Remote Channel and Local Channel. The Local Channel is not editable, but what is the Remote Channel and why is all set to 1?
I’m seeing latest products that are out now, what would you recommend to get since I want 6 cameras, ps. You’re so intelligent stating facts and everything, Just sub!
Please help. I haven't gotten anywhere with Lorex customer service. My cameras are no longer recording. When I view live footage it has "no dusc" displayed on the left top corner. And when I try to click on a recorded event it displays "LIVE" instead of what was recorded. You're my last chance before I toss this system.
I have done everything in all your videos, and I can't get my cameras to record continuously. they won't record at all unless I manually click record then its only for 10-15 minutes. My goodness this is frustrating.
You have the NVR to record on correct? The NVR when working is always recording. If you have wifi camera with memory cards they work a bit differently how are you setup?
@@RickvanderValk14 I looked through the menu on the NVR and part of my problem was the Hard drive had an error, so I formatted it and now I see all the cameras have a red-letter C on the screens, so I think now they are recording. my next issue is getting my lorex cloud app on our PC to go online so we can view the cameras while on the computer. My problem is my play back is blurry on my lorex 4k system past 2 years I don't aby problem now is blurry only when I playback not live event please if you have any video.
Great info, thank you👍 I just purchased this system and didn't know if I needed pc, or just use my iPad for the set up , or do I just purchase a monitor? Ps. I haven't used my computer in over 10 years, always use a tablet, iPad ect...
Bought a Lorex 4K UHD 16CH NVR, model: N863A63B, and noticed the power supply fan stays on when I conduct a shutdown via the drop down menu on the screen and the power button in front of the device. have you experienced this before? is it normal?
Subscribed! Hi Rick, I currently own Lorex 4k 6 bullets and additional 1 ptz with LNR6100 line nvr 2TB factory. Was in between either getting the new Fusion one with Alexa compatibility that also comes with 2TB or upgrading mine to 8TB, pretty much same $$$. But once I'd have the new nvr I'd probably expand it again but they only go to 6TB. Decided to go with the solution of getting 8TB and sticking with what I have. Based on your experience, did you ever update your nvr firmware, if yes how to do it. From what I understand they want me to download a firmware file to a flash drive, stick it in to my nvr and in settings finish the process, correct me if I'm wrong. My experience, Lorex products are great, customer service.. I had terrible experience with these people, but things might have changed ever since I last spoke with them. Also, now I kinda regret not getting that nvr, I have one open spot and there is no way for me to run any extra wires for additional camera, and with my ocd.. this empty spot bothers me a little. I could always fill it in with any wifi based camera. Good luck with your channel!
Haha , im in the same boat, upgrade or leave it. In terms of the NVR firmware you are correct and I have done a firmware upgrade on mine...if it aint broke dont fix is my motto usually. In terms of the dead spot i have two that bug me and I am going to go to fusion soon. You can replace the NVR only and keep cameras (they have on the website which camera are compatible with each NVR) so its a small change but will allow me to add some dead spots in. I will review of course.
@@RickvanderValk14 hi Rick, you won't believe but I actually returned that WD Purple 8TB to newegg and ordered Fusion NVR from Lorex 🙈 once it all clears out I'll get the 6TB. And Lorex did it again, what I'm going through with them just to purchase this nvr SMH. And with that dead spot.. besides Lorex I have 8 other cameras, WYZE ring blink, there really is nowhere to put that missing one 🙈 Besides all that I can't wait to set this new nvr up 😎 By the way, great videos, I've seen plenty and subscribed. 🤜🤛👍
@@RickvanderValk14 I am very curious about Alexa compatibility. So far I have few automations with the other cameras. My favorite is when garage opens I get the view from garage automatically on my three echo shows. I like to play around with these things, and to be honest Lorex was the only "device" that wasn't compatible with the rest. Do I need that? Idk, but once you go this route you want all these things to talk to each other, and my ocd lol so yeah, can't wait!
I was going to go with the Fusion line until I compared it to the NC4K3F-164WD which has 30fps. The Fusion line is only capable of 15fps. Also the Fusion doesn't have Ultra HD Resolution, HDR or a Nocturnal DVR. For $200 more NC4K3F-164WD is far superior.
Hi G Man, I am thinking the same to buy NC4K3F-164WD system compared to N4K2-84WB. Which one did you finally buy and how is it going in terms of night vision and quality, etc? Thanks.
Hi H&S Studio, I haven't bought it yet but may order it today (NC4K3F-164BD) which is the same as the one you are looking at just different style cameras. They currently have a sale on them (25% off) plus of you sign up with your email you get an extra 5% off. It brings the price down from $899.99 down to $641.24.
Lorex Nocturnal 4K 16-Channel 4TB Wired NVR System with Smart IP Dome Cameras, 30FPS Recording and Listen-in Audio. Looking at this set up. How do you power these things besides drilling holes through the house. Ideally like to have wired cameras but I don't want holes drilled through inside and out of my home. I do have gfci outlets outside.
@shane w I attached my cameras to my soffit and ran the wires through the soffit and attic. I then ran the wires through the walls. Took a bit of time but we’ll worth it.
Hi Rick, Again great tutorial - I would like to know what Wireless Mouse and Keyboard I can use with the NVR? I'm planning on placing my NVR in the attic and so, I need to use a wireless mouse and keyboard, Thanks!
You dont need a keyboard with the unit just a mouse. they supply a wired one, I dont know that a wireless mouse would work you would have to try and plug into the USB slot and see if it will recognize it. If you set it up one time in the attic and you have it connected to your network you will probably not need to go up there very often you could just make most of the changes from the PC software.
I tried a wireless mouse. It was about 10ft. from my NVR and going through one wall. It did not work great as the mouse pointer had very intermittent movement on the monitor screen. Ended up using a USB extension cable with a USB wallplate which required drilling a hole.
I've never successfully connected the PC app to my system (which is a pre-req for this video), and never successfully exported a video recorded on my system. The UX is literally the worst I've ever used, and I work in UX.
The video will be overwritten in next few days if its on the HDD and you haven't done anything with it. Usually you export a clip if you want a file for some purpose, other wise as new video comes in it overwrites the old stuff.
@@JawadKhan-hz9sc if you have setup your zones, have enabled notifications, and system is new i would probably call help desk tomorrow and see if they can help you. Probably a simple issue you overlooked in the setup, they are pretty quick to see what is going on.
If I could return the system I would, I got a Lorex For Business set and at night the cameras are full of noise & blurry; these are from their "nocturnal" systems. Lorex Support simply said to get lighting. No shit. Another huge reason if that if you would like to access your cameras via their internal IP (to access them on your browser because you'll eventually realize that you can get more camera specific settings that way but cannot get live view nor playback because it requires a "chrome app" which takes me to a chrome extension "easy viewer' by NACL Web Team. Which (1) if you read all the reviews alone; the app is shit (2) If you install it and just doesn't work. The Lorex DDNS is just the same thing as accessing it from the internal IP address. Except of course that you can/could see it from outside the LAN but neither in LAN or via DDNS, live view/playback does not work. Just don't get this system.
I wouldn't recommend Lorex to a rusted can! So, where do I start off at...? From start they seemed to do the job, do it well plus more. I went from getting alerts on all 4 cameras daily, to even pic's or video of some person, animal, truck or car that pulled up or passed by slowly. To, well.... Here we go! I can be sitting at my computer, watching the monitor during the day or night. I'll see someone mowing, cat, dog in my yard to even someone across the street doing whatever, do I get ALERTED? NOPE! Yet, they sure can SEE STUFF GOING ON JUST FINE. Does that even make sense? It sure doesn't to me. During the day, even night "Person detected" I look on my app of the video, a TRUCK OR CAR PASSES BY. Person detected, look again to find NOTHING OUTSIDE. Person detected, it's raining outside. Lmao, is that a "person?" App- I'll go into delete videos, it'll bind up. I have to close then try to delete again. This happens DAILY! The threshold and motion doesn't so SQUAT. Trust me, I've talked to a thousand Lorex "techs" that say do this, do that N O T H I N G HAS HELPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's times my Dog walks by the camera is SOUND ASLEEP. At night, my back camera is SMOKEY LOOKING. Here within the last 2 weeks, the camera on my garage ZOOMS IN WHEN A CAR/TRUCK PASSES BY. My others don't do this. Oh, yes MORE BEEPING ISSUES. If I leave my SUV outside, the garage camera goes APE SHEET and jumps around. There are times one will go all BLACK then back to color. I've had NO REAL HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lorex should be embarrassed that they haven't produced a video anywhere near as useful and informative as this one. Thank you!
thank you..in process of doing some new ones to update content. appreciate you watching and providing feedback :)

It can be done. I used a StarTech model ST122HD202 HDMI splitter. It requires power and comes with the needed power adapter. Was about $70 on Amazon
5-7 days ..mine first one was 4k 8mp 2tb and was about 6 days i think..so I just doubled it up for you
Question. How many people can use the phone app?
My wife and I both use it
Thanks for that, very useful.
Out of curiosity, ever get the "Video wall" working?
Only one person can be logged onto the app? When my wife logs in to view the cameras it logs me off. Is there a way to watch the cams from multiple devices? Like phones and iPads?
Why is lorex 4k blurry when zoomed? Supposed to be clear compared to my old 1080p EZVIZ cameras.
Thank You Rick great job!

No, the camera is right side up. But the picture is upside down. Thanks Sam
Thank you
Does the phone app allow you to Timelapse through the footage?
If you have a zone set you can view events to help you go through footage quickly. If for example you didn’t have a zone set and you wanted to see who threw the garbage on your side walk you would have to scrub on phone. In that case I normally go to pc app and do a smart search where I can just make a virtual box on the sidewalk where the garbage is and nvr will scrub all footage and show me what has changed in that box.

I have a lorex 8 channel 4k home
I wanted to add more camera on this NVR with a POE switch
after I install those I found out that my NVR is 8 channel and can not view more that 8 channel
my question is : can I upgrade the firmware of this NVR to let me view more channel?
In the Lorex web they side " if you have a NVR system you can connect a POE switch and add more camera"
Is there a way to enlarge the Font and everything on this Cloud Screen? So small and hard to read.

Hi Rick, my lorax security cameras siren goes off all the time. None of the tech support able to help me. Can you please let me know how to disable all the cameras siren. I have to unplug my nvr to stop this annoying siren. Please explain. Thanks
this vs reolink? thoughts?

Your camera has a wider range vs the Fusion one that you had in your video. 125 view of range vs 105 is a lot better though right?

Can Cat5 wire work for Lorex 4k camera.
I believe they use cat 5e normally for them.
What did you end up buying?
How does the audio work on the Lorex 4K systems? Two way audio is advertised but no audio present
in the applications (Mobile app, PC App,) you can hit a button to listen and also one to speak. It depends on what system you bought and the types of cameras on the two way audio.
I find it a bit quiet though in terms of volume on the cameras i have.

However, I live in MI and it gets -30F in the winter and no sun. I have outlets outside. Suggestions on a brand or brands that would work for my concerns. Hi can u help me? My cameras are saying offline when I’m on the Lorex app but they are working perfectly on my monitor.

Thanks, I didn't know the noise was a fan. I'm finding out that there is so much info. that LOREX didn't share with us when we purchase their system.

@shane w I attached my cameras to my soffit and ran the wires through the soffit and attic. I then ran the wires through the walls. Took a bit of time but we’ll worth it.
how to i delete fottage??
@@newgilligan3694 Hi - I am now using Ultra-slim and Microsoft Arc Mouse Ultra-slim and lightweight and it's working great.

Hello, I would like to know how to delete a video from my lorex camera
The video will be overwritten in next few days if its on the HDD and you haven't done anything with it. Usually you export a clip if you want a file for some purpose, other wise as new video comes in it overwrites the old stuff.

Lmao, is that a "person?"
App- I'll go into delete videos, it'll bind up.
