    A beautiful model whether or not you need one. I would make a small industry just to have one on my layout.

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад

      LOL - yes it needs a small industry. However, it also exists in a German Post version. You could use this at a train station with a larger post exchange. Enjoy ;-)

    Thanks I needed a loco like that and the fact that the telex works with Märklin is just great. One question when you uncoupled was the little backward motion your doing or is it part of the uncoupling feature?

    • @ThisMayContainNuts
      @ThisMayContainNuts 2 года назад +2

      Hello! I own the same loco (just BASF livery), and the movement is part of the uncoupling feature. It does that by itself to release tension from the coupler. Moves a little backwards towards the car, starts uncoupling, and then moves a little forward to free itself.

    A very interesting locomotive. Nice review. I have yet to buy an ESU, despite their high reputation for their decoders and files. I find them a bit overpriced, but maybe worth it?

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад

      It was one of those I really didn't need, but a very nice locomotive. ESU is more expensive, but they also put a lot of good features in the locomotive - and the sound is really great. Enjoy ;-)

    Hi Bo, Great job with the introduction of this locomotive. You almost managed to sell it to me, but unfortunately, I have no use for this kind of locomotive on my layout.
    Enjoy!

      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад +1

      Axel - same thing for me. I really didn't need the locomotive, but it just too nice. Still can't believe all the features they pack in this little one. BTW: there is a post version you could use for shunting post cars on your station if you have a post siding. Enjoy ;-)

      @@ModelTrainFun in fact is their not very old ESU BR V60 model but compacted in a smaller body. in a strange maner they show us how much they cand pu into a bigger loco type and they don t....

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад

      @@electrain Agree some of these features would be cool in the V60. For me if they put the new TELEX coupler in the V60, then I would be very happy. Have been pondering if I can buy the new TELEX for the KG230 and put it in the V60? Enjoy ;-)

    • @electrain
      @electrain 2 года назад +1

      @@ModelTrainFun Well, I guess you don't understand me, ESU first released the V60 with this whole set of digital features (ESU 31427 for example) and then made this new copy in which it compressed everything in the V60. the only difference between the models, apart from the size and shape, is that only in the last model they made the coupling with acceptance and metal from the standard couplings while up to V60 only the plastic ones from Roco could be used with the coupling digital ESU. otherwise, yes, the new coupling on the KG can be put on the V60 because it is the same mechanism and the same type of coupling

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад

      @@electrain Excellent - thanks for the information. Would be tempting to try to replace the coupling. Enjoy ;-)

    Looks like you DO need a small switcher on your layout. Südzucker 4 Looks like a great addition.
    Btw, did ESU Telex couplers work well with various Märklin couplers e.g. close couplers, Relex couplers?

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад +1

      Yes - I had to have this great little locomotive. Yes the ESU telex couplers on this locomotive worked with the Märklin close couplers and the Brawa relex couplers. I did not try with Märklin relex couplers yet. Enjoy ;-)

    Do they make this for regular DCC layouts, like one using the Roco system or is it only for Marklin?

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад

      Hi - this model can be used for DCC as well. ESU has made the locomotive such that you can remove the slider and it will work on DCC - so it will also work with Roco. ESU makes most of (if not all?) their locomotives such that they can be used with both 2-rail and 3-rail systems. Enjoy ;-)

    • @ThisMayContainNuts
      @ThisMayContainNuts 2 года назад

      Tænker at det giver god mening, for at være brugbar og relevant for flest mulige seere. Jeg synes blandt andet også det er ret træls når jeg stortset kun kan finde tyske videoer af Märklin.
      - Der ville jeg nemlig have ønsket at de var engelske.

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад

      Ja - det ville være dejligt hvis jeg også kunne lave videoer på dansk, men det tager allerede lang tid at lave på engelsk og jeg når længere omkring med engelsk end dansk... Husk at du kan lave danske tekster - de er automatisk oversat af youtube fra engelsk, men de er brugbare. Du kan se på @GarageSpam hvordan man gør: ruclips.net/video/TX7d-PpRF00/видео.html
      Ellers skriv til min email (se under "About" på kanalen) så vil jeg se om jeg kan hjælpe på dansk.

    Very cool little loco! I bought one myself a couple of weeks ago in the BASF livery and have been really impressed with it too!
    Mine sadly came with a defective slider, that I had to get replaced, but other than that, very good!
    Was looking for good quality videos of this loco A LOT before buying mine, but there weren't that many. So I bet a lot of people will appreciate your video!
    Take care!

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 года назад +1

      Glad you got the slider replaced. I find the ESU actually make good slides and they work well on the Märklin C-track. Did you find any cars that match the BASF loco? I got the Südzucker as it was the only one I could find some matching cars for. Enjoy ;-)

    • @ThisMayContainNuts
      @ThisMayContainNuts 2 года назад +1

      @@ModelTrainFun I bought a set of Zag 620's from Pullman (ESU) number 36537. Since BASF is chemistry, I thought it would fit well. Pullman/ESU does make some BASF cars too, but from epoke III instead of IV, so I went with the others.
      Seems like they do plan to make a BASF set of the Zag 620 cars though :)
      In regards to the sliders, I think they are okay, but they make a lot of noise when you drive at higher speeds, which I don't think Märklin does.
