Surprising when I learned too- I use this exact recipe but add ketchup and a bit of pineapple juice from the can of I’m making sweet n sour sauce for pork or chicken.

This might be silly but I recently tried to make teriyaki chicken and it came out really bland. But watching your video, I realize I am supposed to glaze the chicken with teriyaki sauce, not marinate the chicken with the sauce. I feel like a goof ball. Your recipe looks totally doable (and incredibly delicious). I'm going to try this!!

Very nice and easy recipe! One question - Are there any reason for using non-alcoholic Mirin (味みりん) instead of Hon-Mirin (本みりん)? You can always boil the alcohol off. (Of course, Hon-Mirin might be more expensive.)

That glaze reminds me of a product I used to buy from Tastefully Simple...I bet I could use this method to get really close to that stuff. My family loved it...it was a honey teriyaki sauce with sesame seeds in it. I'm gonna play around and see what I can come up with..THANKS! :D

I like using brown sugar rather than white sugar for teriyaki sauce. Also, I like dressing up my sauce with a dash of toasted sesame oil and some fresh grated ginger. Also, rather than cooking the glaze, marinate a steak in the sauce (you will want to heat up your brown sugar to liquefy it), before cooking.
