T-stops are basically more accurate than f-stops. The f-stop system looks at the mechanical parts and how much light they let through, whilst the t-stop system also takes the loss of light, due to the light passing through the glass elements in the lens, into account. I've heard this lens would equal around f 1.8. The reason the t-stop system is used is because, as I said, it is more accurate. It also allows for the exposure of the image to remain the same at the same t-stop, even with a different lens, which isn't the case when counting in f-stops because f-stops aren't an accurate representation of the amount of light passing through the lens onto the sensor. The same f-stop on different lenses might result in a slight difference in exposure, whilst the same t-stop on different lenses will result in an equal amount of light reaching the sensor, thus giving you the exact same exposure. Hope this clarified some things for you :)
Well i know when you start a channel there is always no - i can see the effort you put in this video brother lots of love from India your channel will surely grow 💕✌🏻
Awesome video and I like this lens! A few suggestions though my good guy no bashing here just follow me... I shoot handheld with full manual LOOOOOONG pull lenses. It's not difficult... Set your shot up and get your focus where you want it before you shoot so you know your in and out points. All lenses also have different color shifts no matter if it's $350 or $35,000. It's not the price that causes this so exclude that because those awesome vintage lenses from back in the day that we can get for $60, those have orange beautiful casts in them. But this is why we use profiles or we shift the color in camera based on the cast in video and create our own custom LUTS from scratch to pull that out so we don't have to keep manually adjusting. I've been debating this lens after getting the 14mm. It's a sexy big ol small lens and they did it again on awesome affordability! Love your videos man. BE YOU, DO YOU! Keep this ish up!
When choosing a 7Artisan cine lens everyone chooses 7Artisan 35mm t1.05, not 12mm t2.9 compare to other 3 cine lenses 25mm t1.05, 35mm t1.05, 50mm t1.05. Can I buy the 7Artison 12mm t2.9 lens? price drop reason t2.9? Or is there any problem? All RUclipsrs are recommending this 12mm t2.9 lens but no one cares about 12mm t2.9, I want to buy it as my first short film lens. please your feedback.....
I’m not sure I can answer that question. The only reason I can think of is that many try to go for the wider T stops to get a more shallow depth of field but working with such shallow DOF is very difficult in video specially if your manual focusing, so I feel that T2 is more than enough and the wider The lens gets the less DOF you get. So I can see why others prefer the 25mm over the 12mm. I personally love the 35mm focal length. So it’s just personal preference.
I picked up the 25mm T1.05 for my A7IV the vignette was bad unless i punched in crop mode ( yes i know its an Apsc lens ) i am going to pick up the 35mm T2.0 instead.. Great quality, smooth focus, and the lens hood feel is sooo satisfying 😂
I thought about getting the apsc lens first! But figured the vignette may be limiting having to crop it out! But yeah this one won’t have that issue! Highly recommend it! If you do order, try our link in the description to support us! 🥹🙏🏼
Really nice work man! Really like your style and the video is super chill. Keep up the good work, I keep seeing these cine lenses on Amazon. Currently I own the Sigma 35mm F2 for Sony E on my A7siii.
I really appreciate what you do, keep on doing the good job and your channel will grow larger and sponsor will run to you. I was looking for an affordable cinematic lens and I will get this one. Thank you
Do you find this lense a bit annoying to be trying to manually focus every time ..? Im trying to see if its good for real estate photography or videography, ?
So for my work it is some getting used to manual focusing but using focus peaking helps a lot. Not sure how well it will do with real estate since I’ve never done work of that kind.
T2.0 is pretty wide open to let light in! I’ve shot during blue hour without issues but it also comes down to how well your camera handles low light! Since I’ve never shot video in a concert I wouldn’t know enough to tell you if it’s sufficient! But If you decide to order use our link and support us! 🙏🏼🥹
I’m using the 7artisans T2 kit since 1 years (11 project with them) for the price it’s insane BUT there is a heavy focus breathing, the 35mm is really bad without matte box (there’s blue flares everywhere in bright environments), the 35 is much more warmer than the 50 and 85 and render a « vintage » look but not the 50/85 that are more modern. The iris ring is not smooth at all (electronics focus motor struggles) and my 85mm even the focus ring is to hard for auto calibration! It’s really good a T2.8 but T2 is not sharp at all (I like it)
Good info! Thanks for pointing that out! I’m still quite new to doing video so there’s some things I don’t notice such as the flares and I’ve see others mention the focus breathing but I don’t tend to notice it since this is the only cine lens I own. I’ve yet to try one that doesn’t have that so I can see the difference 😅
I don’t believe it is because that camera is a crop sensor camera BUT there is a version of this lens for crop sensor. You’d need to look into the 25mm lens version to get close to the 35mm focal length in full frame. 7artisans has one!
6:52 Actually F stops are not the same as T stop, the difference is T stop is a precise value for the light to enter in you sensor. For example, you're not gonna have the same exposure between two different lenses, both at f/2.8 But with cinema lenses, the great thing is you take a 35mm, and put it at T/2, and you wanna swap to a 50mm but you don't want to change your exposure, well you can set it as well a T/2, it's gonna be the same amount of light that gonna pass trough
Not this lens because this is a full frame lens BUT 7artisans does have a crop sensor version available that looks exactly the same. But if you want to get the similar focal length of 35mm and account for the crop sensor, you’d need to get maybe the 25mm cine lens they offer because the 35mm will be more like a 50mm~
Buy me the more expensive ones! I promise I’ll review it! Message me on Instagram please so we can get payment situated If you like so I can order one! 😄🙏🏼

The carne asada footage looks so good. Super filmic with the blue light contrasting with the warmth of the bulbs & the halation around them.

those "markings" are the t-stop, the top is the focus distance, also it should not go beyond the infinity logo
Just got the 85mm on eBay for 268$, heavy ass lense! Might be a Chinese replica knock off! Great review!⭐️⭐️

Lovely footage! What did you shoot this on mate?
I used the Sony a7RV for most of the video except when the Sony was showing on my hands, I used the XT5 to film that with the sigma 18-50mm I believe!

T-stops take into account any loss of light due to lens elements and other factors, while f-stops are a measure of the size of the aperture.

Hi this is really good. what camera is it attached to for 2:38-2:54?
That was with the Sony a7rV!
Did you use any filter for your footage? Or some kind of coloring trick? Looks amazing.
I just color graded in daVinci resolve! The only filter I use is a variable ND filter to darken the image for right exposure!
Does this work well with low light or concert type venues? Ty im.about to order

It is difficult to manual focus if the subject people keep moving ?
It does take some practice but it’s a lot easier with focus peaking.
