Just arrived from America to his ancestral home of Inisfree, former boxer Sean Thornton (John Wayne) sets his eye on the beautiful Mary Kate Danaher (Maureen O'Hara) and sparks fly. "D'you see that road over there?... Well don't take that one, it'll do you no good."
LOL
As one who been to Ireland several times I have heard something similar when asking directions lol
God bless Maurice Walsh for writing the short story & the people who adapted it into this brilliantly endearing film. 1 of the top of many Irish literary & film masterpieces.just drove thru knockanure a few weeks ago on short rural Sunday excursion.
I’ve owned the cottage in Ireland that this movie was filmed on. If you Google the movie she will see a clip of it and usually my name as the owner. I have tried to restore the cottage since I bought it in 1983. All I wanted the Irish government to do is help me get the permits to do so. Their environmental rules were so strict and even if you owned 1000 acres and wanted to put a room on your home it could take you up to four years. I did not know John
That's absolutely shameful. They can't expect people to take good care of the historic houses if you aren't allowed to fix it up.
Lost count of how many times I have seen this wonderful movie😊 Ihope the cottage is restored!!!☘️🇮🇪🌞
My siblings and I still quote random lines from this movie to this day.
That lovely old lady, and all the others trying to help ❤
The thing I most remember about "The Quiet Man" is that John Wayne seemed to light up about two dozen cigarettes only to immediately cast them aside in anger.
Haha! 😂 yes!! I remember my mom pointing that out like crazy when I was a kid. She said it just wasn’t practical or realistic
Love love lpve this film. I'm Irish by the way 😆 ☘ 🌹💚🇮🇪
Ireland is the loveliest country i have ever visited, inhabited by the loveliest people i have ever met. May it never change.
I'm Welsh I loved this since a kid...me now 68 one of the best
Tell me there is no better film that John Wayne starred in and the knowledge will cover a multitude of other sins

A truly delightful movie, very unlike John Wayne's in general.

Some of the scenes were filmed in tuam where my dad comes from
When i want water, I drink water. When I want whiskey, I drink whiskey....
