- On July 27, 1962 the VERY YOUNG "BEACH BOYS" WERE thankfully caught on film for a locally televised documentary called- "One Man Challenge"... They had been on the locally televised "P.O.P. Dance Party TV Show" ALREADY 5 TIMES, hosted by Bob Eubanks; but UNFORTUNATELY ALL OF those shows were SADLY DESTROYED!!!... QUEL PHILISTINES!!! So at this "Azusa Teen Club" recreation center, the said "BEACH BOYS" WERE FILMED by A FELLOW NAMED Dale Smallin... This film that one can still see on RUclips is of said "BEACH BOYS" SINGING "Surfin' Safari"... This film footage is THE EARLIEST EXTANT EXISTING OF THE FANTASTIC "BEACH BOYS"... The said "Azusa Teen Club" is at 320 N. Orange Avenue in the city of Azusa California... Azusa being 30 miles North East of Hawthorne California or 48 kilometers...
I WONDER NO MORE ❣️
Good morning Clyde, great video my friend. Thank you for posting this. Enjoyed it very much.
Legendary beach boys 🏄
Most happy time on earth thanks
The laugh at the start of "Wipeout" (actually an Impacts tune) the laugh is a copy of actor Andy Devine.
Thanks Clyde for posting this video. I really enjoyed seeing the former Azusa Teen Club. I like seeing Now & Then photos, and it was really cool to see where the Beach Boys played so early in their career. Thanks for the shout out for my book BECOMING THE BEACH BOYS, 1961-1963 (McFarland). One minor correction my obsessive researcher gene compels me to point out -- their first single, "Surfin'," was released November 27, 1961 (Candix 331), December 20, 1961 (X Records 301), and January 15, 1962 (Candix 301, distributed by Era Records). That was a magical time in which to live and no one captured it better musically than the Beach Boys.
You are remarkable. Thank you.
Cool fact, this is where their future drummer Bobby Figueroa first saw them when he was in Jr High school in 1962. He was in a new surf band called the Outsiders and they all went to see them play here. Bobby was from nearby Glendora.
Whoa ! Thanks for doing this: so cool to see that the place has barely changed (if at all) since July 27th 1962.
Very cool, Clyde. Thanks, man!
wow awesome video! thank you! Please keep digging for video of the early days! it has to be sitting around in someones basement.
how do you know all this!?
this is so good regards Alan Liverpool England

Very Cool I like this
Terrific ~ and wow, you sound so much like Lawrence Welk in your informative narration.
Very cool. What is the title of the book?
“Becoming The Beach Boys” I think
Clyde, you really know your BB stuff, pleasure to view this. Thanks! Only suggestion is to edit down the external video, especially since practically all your commentary is repeated inside the building.

Long live The Beach Boys
