One of my top tips: go on Jungle Cruise at night! It's a completely different experience. And if you go on it during the fireworks, the skipper will stop and let everyone watch for a little bit.

We're retired locals and go to Disneyland once or twice a week. Since we go so often, we don't do fast passes, rather we really keep it low stress. Your recommendation to get there when the park opens is the BEST advice. At rope drop, we ride Big Thunder Mountain, then Pirates, then Haunted Mansion. I grab a coffee while my husband does Splash Mountain. We're usually done with all four rides by 9:00 a.m. Then we wander the park, catch any ride with a short wait time and just take in all the magic. Our favorite in-park restaurant is the Plaza Inn. And yes, Mickey's Magical Map is so, so fun, a must see. Great video Max!! Jane

Since you live there time is not a matter! 99.9% of people that go are tourists and time like myself is money!
You don't fly and take vacation time and pay for hotels. You probably have a season pass I bet. If you don't go on all the rides in one day not a big deal one back the next day or the next day or the next day etc. Not a good tip on my opinion.

This is a fun fact! I was one of the first 100 people to ride California screaming when it opened! The first day me and my uncle and 2 cousins where walking around the park and they where handing out a special ticket. There where only 100 of them. So me and my family where the first ones to ride the ride 1 hour before it opened! I toke forever to get the ride started, because they where taking soo many pictures of the first 100 people to ride it! I got to ride it twice because one of my cousins was too small for the ride so she gave me her ticket and I went on again! I wish I could find the pictures!

Splash Mountain early morning and after dark is practically walk on. If you sit in seats 4,5 or 6, you wont get that wet. Its such a great ride. Thrill, water and darkride all in one!

For some reason whenever my boyfriend and I go to Disneyland, we always head toward the churro stand near small world and Matterhorn. Usually there's no line and they just taste amazing. We both think that's the best churro stand and we don't know why! Either way, a churro at Disneyland or California Adventure is such a good treat! :)

Clam chowder bread bowl and a mint julep 😛 Take full advantage of the single rider lines. Line up quickly for meeting characters before the line gets cut off and the characters leave. Have your camera ready. Bring or buy an autograph book and a pen for characters to sign. They also sign items of clothing. Minnie signed my hat. Bring a sharpie pen for that. If you are a long distance traveler don't over pack. Leave room for your Disney shopping items or post them home if you can. Buy small items. Pressed pennies are great to collect all over the parks. Ask for a guide and buy a folder. Bring change..pennies and quarters. Buy your first pair of Disney ears or hat. Finally spend as much time here as possible so you get to do everything. I recommend a week. A minimum of 3 to 4 days although that is difficult to achieve. Have a happy magical time 💫

You can also get 1st timer/birthday buttons at restaurants if you ask. Don't underestimate the fun of entertainment other than the big attractions. Disney has a deal with Coke, no Pepsi products ANYWHERE. They let you bring in your own though. Super8 has Gatorade vending machine outside with Pepsi products. If you can't get in early, stay until closing, many people leave after fireworks ~9pm, but there are 2nd parade showings ~10:30. Websites can tell you days parks are less busy..also choose days with more hours of open time. U can buy dining packages which also give u a premium spot to watch parade/fireworks/World of Color. Put Fastpass in your wallet, u might lose it. Don't forget your ticket in Fastpass machine. If u ask, photographers will use your own camera/phone, no pressure to buy PhotoPass. Use official Disneyland app. Nearly anything in a gift shop u can also find in World of Disney store in Downtown Disney/Springs or online. Bring little portable USB battery + cable for ur phone. Apple sells a 1/2 length Lightning cable. Good for this + car use. Parkhopper is overpriced. Disney California Adventure is more suited to adults, Disneyland is more suited to kids/Star Wars fans. Space Mountain + Matterhorn slam your body around. Big Thunder Mtn RR has tracks that bank, more pleasant, just as fun. Path of Jedi is a waste of time..no new footage. Check out Jedi Training: Trials of Temple instead, live actors. U can access basically anything in any Disney hotel without paying for a room..A good way to get unique food/entertainment. arestravel dot c*m has discount tickets.

Getting there early IS key. But if you're only there for one day, willing to spend the time (til close) and you're not a whiny impatient adult, or just a normal child, you can hit nearly every ride and get to see a few shows as well, IF you don't do any stupid ride/park hoping. That means no fast passes. Do one "land, get on their rides and move on to the next neighboring land and so on! We stuck to this plan and on Labor Day weekend of all dates and it turned out to be one of the best times we had at the park. 2 and 3 day passes are great if you can do them and that will allow you to do a more leisurely tour of the park.

its a tiny tip but as far as water fountains go, the one right near soarin around the world is the BEST one. clearest water quality, actually enough water pressure to fill a water bottle, AND the coldest one too.
also definitely use the matterhorn single line out of any of them. sometimes ill go and the regular line is an hour wait but no one is in single for some reason so i can just walk right on. and the left side is usually a faster line too.

i don’t know if anybody said this yet but one time me and my mom went to disneyland together by ourselves and the line for splash mountain was 105 minutes long. me and my mom saw that there was single rider and we were like oh well we really want to go on this so let’s go single rider. so we went... of course. and in about 3 minutes the worker was like, “are you guys 2 people?” and we said yes so we went on the ride TOGETHER!!! it was awesome but I felt bad because we waited for 3 minutes to get on together and some people are waiting 105 minutes. so yeah, if your planning on going to disneyland soon, go to single rider! ALSOOO, get max passes and churros!!!!!!!!!

    I have a few tips.
    1. Buy food and bring it to the park with you. The Disney food can get pretty spendy especially is you are with a large group. I would suggest PB&J.
    2. Get the app. Get a Disney app so you can see the ride wait times, maps and more.
    3. Bring extra cloths Incase you get hot, cold, or wet.
    4. There is also a secret menu. My favorite from the secret menu is the Mac and cheese bread bowl! It is amazing!

I've been to Disneyland a few times but I've only been on their small world once since the line is normally sooooooo long. But the one time I did go on it was with my Mom after a showing of Fantasmic on a day the park was open pretty late. Let's just say that it's a small world near midnight, when it's so dead that they only have one boat in a room/area at a time, and with only two of you in the boat is. so. creepy. ...Especially if you've read the first Kingdom Keeper's book. Nooooooooope.

I am from Scotland and went to Disneyland in April. My aunt who lives in California said it'd get chilly. She was talking about temperatures in the high forties/low fifties (or around ten degrees Celsius). That's T-shirt weather. I think you've been living in SoCal too long, Max. Those people you mentioned were probably from a place where you go out in a sundress every time it's over fridge temperature.

Great video and great tips! I will be doing my 3rd trip to Disney from Hawaii, this November. I'll be going with friends rather than family. They all have either not been there before, or haven't been since they were really younger. Looking forward to using a few of these tips!

The last time I visited Disneyland was with my then girlfriend in 2010. Life has had its ups and downs for me in the next stretch of time. Now, November 2019, I am going this friday with some friends to celebrate my 50th birthday. I am both nervous and excited, and looking forward to Galaxies Edge, among other things. I do tire easily. I am high energy in the morning and usually more low energy in the evenings, and hope to experience as much as possible. I enjoyed your presentation, and think it will help me better plan my day/evening. Thank you for posting this video.

I go a lot too! My tips: Always bring a backpack! Put extra waters and snacks in it. Bring your own lunch and sodas. One soda can costs more than $3.50. I always take a cooler and leave it in my trunk. So I will go back to my car and eat and come back to the park. If you don't want to go back to your car pack lunches that don't need to bed cold all the time like pbj sandwiches. If you stay at night in the park you are more likely to be able to ride the same ride more than once. I rode splash mountain 6 times in a row. I never got off the ride because there was really nobody in the line. The reason why is less people in the park at night. That starts about 7pm. If you park in the handicapped area of mickey and friends you would have a great view of the fireworks. If you are handicapped or any member of your party is you can use the special handicapped line which is in the exit of almost all rides! I did this one time on Matterhorn. I couldn't find the handicapped line so I asked a crew member and They put me right on the ride by passing a few hundred people in line.

Don't ask for signatures unless you absolutely are dying for one. It's easier for Mickey to take a picture because his big ol gloves :) he'll thank you for it lol

Disneyland has multiple buttons so if it's a special occasion like your birthday, anniversary, engagement, or you're just celebrating something awesome that has just happened in your life, they have buttons for that! :) Also, The Hungry Bear (in Critter Country near Splash Mt. and Pizza Port (in Tomorrow Land, very hard to miss) are great places to eat and are more reasonably priced. If you are allergic to gluten, Pizza Port can make gluten free pizza for you. (Disney in general is very accommodating for people with allergies.) My best friend just told me if you go on the story book canal ride in Fantasy Land right before the fireworks start, you'll get an awesome view. The cast member operating the boat actually asked if everyone would like to just stop and watch the fire works or just try and get through the ride and everyone agreed they wanted to stop for the fireworks and she said it was so cool.

Nice vid! GREAT idea to do one for first timers. But folks if I might add something here: (this vid did ONE ride before lunch)...YES get that Space Mtn (or Indy) fastness FIRST but then go over to PIRATES in the morning. NO wait, but mid day is a long wait, and a ride that is NOT to be missed:) Stuff of that nature: KNOCK OUT RIDES BEFORE LUNCH!!
