    For me this just show that a DAS tournament should still keep being hosted. Since nowdays 29 is no longer the killscreen, the anxaety of having a barrier is something that give us those exciting endings.

    • @gabrielbarrantes6946
      @gabrielbarrantes6946 Год назад +3

      Yeah, infinite gameplay will be an issue soon enough, so probably will be another increment if speed added at some point.

    • @frodododo
      @frodododo Год назад +4

      @@gabrielbarrantes6946 increased speed isnt possible, level 29 NTSC already moves a space every frame, literally impossible to go faster than that without moving multiple spaces per frame which would be terrible for multiple reasons. The current idea floating around is a level/line cap, where after you get to a certain level (current favourite is 49), you have to top out, if the super long games become a problem

    Tetris should be like swimming. Compete with different strokes/playstyles, and have a freestyle competition for all styles. Funny enough, in swimming the freestyle competition became so dominated by front crawl that we now just call that stroke freestyle, and Tetris will probably be the same way with rolling haha

      There have been double maxouts with DAS before, right? How is this among the highest scoring with no maxouts?

    • @ngc_man25
      @ngc_man25 Год назад +5

      @@thomasdalton1508 If you total the scores of both players for the entire set, it is probably the highest scoring DAS match of all time. If you scale it down to reflect the fact that it was a best of 7 instead of a best of 5 (aka, multiply by 5/7), it still probably places top 3.
      Also, there have been VERY few double DAS maxouts in competition. I don't know of the exact number but it is probably somewhere around 10 times ever.

    Jonas could've won based on the scores, just goes to show how good he was with DAS and how much he had to push in CTWC 2020.

    • @swidr5626
      @swidr5626 Год назад +29

      I think it is more complex than that given the same seed used for CTWC is significantly different to the GYM one we used here. Adam got 6 maxouts in the quals which is insane for any DAS player, while Schnecke got 3 and Sidnev Tugi and Mark got 2, with Quaid getting 1, but there were no maxes in this match. We simply don't really know how well would Jonas perform but for sure him facing Adam would be an absolutely insane matchup..

    • @swidr5626
      @swidr5626 Год назад +2

      @@thomasdalton1508 It's impossible to do really since the way alghoritm works (i believe) depends on the way you stack, and handle the pieces or other things that can't be reproduced if you want seed to be the same for both players. So in practice rng works differently in fixed-seed games, but it's close enough. Many times as a both ref and player i noticed fixed seeds are usually trickier to play with

    • @tuginwho
      @tuginwho Год назад +10

      I'd say it's important to keep in mind that Jonas was likely aiming for scores higher than players in CTWC DAS simply because he was facing the best tappers in the world in his run at CTWC 2020, while the players here are only competing against other DAS players. DAS players generally don't score their highest comp scores against other DASers because in all honestly consistent scores in the 800k-1mil range will win you almost ever game in DAS vs DAS.

    • @thomasdalton1508
      @thomasdalton1508 Год назад +1

      @@swidr5626 Yes, but that doesn't actually affect the gameplay at all. You get different pieces than you would have done with the original ROM, but the same is true if you had just waited a second longer to start the game. The probability distribution is still the same.
