Hey everyone! A month or so ago, I got permission from the very talented twitter.com/curlytsunamiART , to turn their comic for the HLVRAI E comic anthology, into a video! They were a big help, in providing a few edits to pages, to help with my editing. And I'm also glad they were cool with alterations I needed to make to fit the audio (I'm shocked I couldn't find most of the sentences needed in the stream, that's insane.) I hope you enjoy, and I advice you check them out, as well the original comic! As well as the others listed in the description!
i love how dr coomer, the one who acts the MOST like an ai, is literally the only one who is aware he's in a videogame and wants to get out, arguably knowing even more about his situation than even benry
The fact that in the original video when Dr.Coomer is dead and talks to Freeman the distortion effect goes over the watermark means that he was not talking to Gordon, but to Wayne himself
I NEVER NOTICED THAT OH GOD I HATE THAT THOUGHT XD for real that would make more sense though. he's already aware that he's not in the real world at this point, so it would make sense that he's begging gordon to let him escape
but he doesn't know wayne's name, only Gordon's. Which makes the ending of "Gordon... if that is your real name." more impactful because he would be talking to wayne there too.
You know that he's not the Coomer we know when you hear him calling Gordon by his surname. The Coomer clones call Gordon "Mr. Freeman", while the original Coomer calls Gordon by his name.
Holly is seriously such a good voice actor. (The person who played Dr. Coomer) She was usually so silly during the series, but in that scene, she sounds so ominous. I honestly love it.
Fun fact: the moment during tommy double taps the coomer clones wayne is having a panic attack in real life (which probably never planned at the time) making it sound like hes devastated about the clones being dead, about to cry and gave us one of Wayne's favorite tommy moment which is tommy asking him if he wanted a soda Evidence: hlvrai but the cast is commentating act 3
Perfectly captured the sheer horror and comedy of the moment. The editing matches perfectly with the visuals and their voices amplify the original comic. nyosart (@curlytsunamiART’s) definitely did justice to the original scene. I especially love Tommy’s facial expressions, how he too is left speechless by the horrors he’s seen and unable to find the words to comfort Gordon as a result. I think my favorite parts were 0:46 - 1:14, the horde of Coomers at 1:18, 1:42 - 1:44, 2:00 - 2:12, Coomer in the shadows at 2:29, and 2:49 - 3:28. I can’t believe it took a year to stumble upon this, it’s just so wonderful!!
Dr Coomer is actually also an eldritch entity that has found a way to escape black mesa, although not by invading Gordon. Its by being so iconic he exists in all our heads now.
I think what really happened was that when he realized he wasnt real, he wanted to become real the confrontation in the sewers being his last attempt before realizing hes stuck there making the ending segment of hlvrai nake more sense
as Dr. Coomer once said: ''A cactus (plural cacti, cactuses, or less commonly, cactus)[3] is a member of the plant family Cactaceae,[a] a family comprising about 127 genera with some 1750 known species of the order Caryophyllales.[4] The word cactus derives, through Latin, from the Ancient Greek word κάκτος (káktos), a name originally used by Theophrastus for a spiny plant whose identity is now not certain.[5] Cacti occur in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Although some species live in quite humid environments, most cacti live in habitats subject to at least some drought. Many live in extremely dry environments, even being found in the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on Earth. Because of this, cacti show many adaptations to conserve water. For example, almost all cacti are succulents, meaning they have thickened, fleshy parts adapted to store water. Unlike many other succulents, the stem is the only part of most cacti where this vital process takes place. Most species of cacti have lost true leaves, retaining only spines, which are highly modified leaves. As well as defending against herbivores, spines help prevent water loss by reducing air flow close to the cactus and providing some shade. In the absence of true leaves, cacti's enlarged stems carry out photosynthesis. Cacti are native to the Americas, ranging from Patagonia in the south to parts of western Canada in the north-except for Rhipsalis baccifera, which also grows in Africa and Sri Lanka. Cactus spines are produced from specialized structures called areoles, a kind of highly reduced branch. Areoles are an identifying feature of cacti. As well as spines, areoles give rise to flowers, which are usually tubular and multipetaled. Many cacti have short growing seasons and long dormancies and are able to react quickly to any rainfall, helped by an extensive but relatively shallow root system that quickly absorbs any water reaching the ground surface. Cactus stems are often ribbed or fluted, which allows them to expand and contract easily for quick water absorption after rain, followed by retention over long drought periods. Like other succulent plants, most cacti employ a special mechanism called "crassulacean acid metabolism" (CAM) as part of photosynthesis. Transpiration, during which carbon dioxide enters the plant and water escapes, does not take place during the day at the same time as photosynthesis, but instead occurs at night. The plant stores the carbon dioxide it takes in as malic acid, retaining it until daylight returns, and only then using it in photosynthesis. Because transpiration takes place during the cooler, more humid night hours, water loss is significantly reduced. Many smaller cacti have globe-shaped stems, combining the highest possible volume for water storage with the lowest possible surface area for water loss from transpiration. The tallest[b] free-standing cactus is Pachycereus pringlei, with a maximum recorded height of 19.2 m (63 ft),[7] and the smallest is Blossfeldia liliputiana, only about 1 cm (0.4 in) in diameter at maturity.[8] A fully grown saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) is said to be able to absorb as much as 200 U.S. gallons (760 l; 170 imp gal) of water during a rainstorm.[9] A few species differ significantly in appearance from most of the family. At least superficially, plants of the genera Leuenbergeria, Rhodocactus and Pereskia resemble other trees and shrubs growing around them. They have persistent leaves, and when older, bark-covered stems. Their areoles identify them as cacti, and in spite of their appearance, they, too, have many adaptations for water conservation. Leuenbergeria is considered close to the ancestral species from which all cacti evolved. In tropical regions, other cacti grow as forest climbers and epiphytes (plants that grow on trees). Their stems are typically flattened, almost leaf-like in appearance, with fewer or even no spines, such as the well-known Christmas cactus or Thanksgiving cactus (in the genus Schlumbergera). Cacti have a variety of uses: many species are used as ornamental plants, others are grown for fodder or forage, and others for food (particularly their fruit). Cochineal is the product of an insect that lives on some cacti. Many succulent plants in both the Old and New World - such as some Euphorbiaceae (euphorbias) - are also spiny stem succulents and because of this are sometimes incorrectly referred to as "cactus".[citation needed]''
Oh, that's just beautiful. Even in a horror situation, there facial expressions on Coomer just fit so well, it's comically villainous! And then that oh so happy smile when he returns like nothing ever happened. :P

I don’t know if I’ve ever commented, but I’ve been coming back to this for years. The comic is amazing (thanks for including the link!), but I have no idea why no one is talking about how well you edited this! The motion, the way you move the camera and introduce each panel, the way you use the video effects to the emphasize dialogue effects for Dr. Coomer and Gordon’s panic (and not just during the final boss scene!), even how you managed to take out the “bang bang bang” sound effect until the sound actually happened- this is really, really well done, and this is my personal reference for if I ever put together a motion comic. I think a lot of motion comic creators (especially professional ones) could learn from how you did this. Thanks for putting this together- from three years later!❤
I have a feeling that when Dr.Coomer was talking about "Being ripped apart when Gordon went to sleep" and "A world in your dreams, Freeman." He was talking about real life, outside the VR headset. Being 'Ripped apart' when the game shut off. Creepy stuff.

It felt like his storyline was cut short and we never learned the truth. Is there really NOTHING outside Black Mesa? Was it a clone or real Dr. Cooman talking to Gordon about his dreams? In later episodes we do see Gordon avoid going to sleep and we even see one dream where we get Dr. cooman and... That's it. No resolution.
