Nop hardisk will be read by the laptops os... No need for the HDD to even have an os in it ....maybe if the writings (encryption or something like that )are different and the laptop can't read it then u might have to reset the harddisk and it will be good as new .....I'm not an expert just what I think will happen .....if you are trying to recover old files then only the concern u have is valid ,if u are not interested in the data and just want the storage device u can just format and reset and your good to go .....
I also have an old HDD which I used in an win 7 PC (many years ago) and now the laptop I have is win 10 so when I do this I'll let you know what the result is ...idk when but when I do I'll cmnt ....

HDD of a pc would require power supply but HDD of laptop wont require POWer supply it get connected to pc via usb cable.
