The B+W cut-ins of them as S+G are perfectly hilarious. They nail the vaguely afraid and deer-in-the-headlights facial expressions. Also the fey mannerisms.
One of my all time fav snl skits was when Paul Simon played "Billy Paul" in the ice cream parlor...such a great memory of my mom and me laughing at this ridiculous parody of the righteous Billy Jack character😂
@@jennifergersch9126 Yep way! I’m a big Paul Simon fan and he’s mentioned this many times. He wrote the song as “Mrs. Roosevelt” before S&G were contracted to do the soundtrack for The Graduate, and Mike Nichols suggested changing the name to “Mrs. Robinson” after the character. The rest is cinematic history.
That would be cool, if Simon walked in with two big goons, called Tony and Guido. And then said, 'so you punks got the 50 clams, you owe me?!' And Hader, without missing a beat, explains, 'But Paulie, we lost it on Da Mets!'
I call this show, Documentary Now, "Pee In Your Pants Humor," because that's what happened to me watching the Sandy Passage Episode, not watching it, actually, as maybe my bladder was empty, but trying to describe it to my husband on the phone made me almost pee in my pants, and I laughed so hard I had to hang up, and calm myself down, with terrible sad thoughts. Then re-watching the part with the sweat pants hat scarf, I laughed so hard I actually had an 'accident,' that I could not control. So heads up, don't drink fluids for an hour before viewing.
I believe he was filming the first season of Barry at this time so that is most likely his Barry Marine tat since I'm pretty sure he has no real tats lol
i could have watched 18 more hours of this i think. thats why documentary now is so delightful.
😴
I love Simon & Garfunkel and I love Bill Hader & Fred Armisen. So this was an absolute treat!
Grace Zerba Paul Simon was better by himself.
You've great taste.
Same ❤️❤️❤️
Plot twist:
Fred and Bill were projecting THEIR lifestyle on to Paul and Art.
I love Simon & Garfunkel, too. That's why I was so shocked to learn that they were a couple and also evidently in the mafia.
I love that Fred has the most innocent, childlike laugh at times. He puts his hands between his knees and turns his feet in. 1:44
So cute! 😊
You don't like "Bridge Over Troubled Water"? YOU'RE gonna be in troubled water!
Anne Rakowiecki lol
It's well-known that S&G had big-time 'mob' connections. Frank Sinatra looked like a choirboy, compared to what those two were up to! :-P
Armisen and Hader are absolute comedic geniuses! Also, Fred is so musically talented. I could watch these guys all day.
"Can you make it Robinson, for the Midwest.." Hahaha! In stitches!
Too bad they always seemed to play to the Midwest, otherwise we could've seen the real S&G.
It was all because of that show in Kalamazoo!
The B+W cut-ins of them as S+G are perfectly hilarious. They nail the vaguely afraid and deer-in-the-headlights facial expressions. Also the fey mannerisms.
Elderly brothers unchained melody
Paul and Arty were actually pretty nice guys. Met them through a mutual friénd1966
Thomas Sobieski to
yes also please watch "documentary now"
Thomas Sobieski say that with an Italian American Brooklyn accent :)
Fred’s stupid looking facial expressions as Paul Simon interspersed in them riffing ridiculously is seriously comedic gold
Why do I find Bill Hader's NY accent lowkey terrifying
I find it lowkey highly arousing lol
@@therosaliereeves It can be both.
You should see his Desus & Mero interview. He does a whole bit on fans with heavy NY accents coming up to him on the street.
Wuss much
I guess because you have ears
I freakin love Fred Armison...I miss Portlandia😭
The dream of the 90s is still alive in Portland.
Can we have the Drunk History version now?!
Would love to see it

Bill in that wig with the serious look on his face, He looks like a Don Martin (Mad Magazine) character.
These guys have been and will remain to be hilarious.....
The expressions Fred does are so hilarious. This is very funny.
I’ve rewatched this so many times in the last 2 weeks.
"Hold on- listen to what you just said you meatball"
"You don't like that song bridge over troubled water, your gonna be in troubled water"😊
I could watch these two riff off of random prompts for the rest of my life. Fred is the best
Mrs Rosalanaaa...that cracks me up sooo badd🤣🤣🤣
As an Italian American, who loves these guys so much...especially Bill😍💋 ...this is very accurate. WE ARE NOT THE WORSE THOUGH!!!!!!😂😂😂
Have you seen Long island Medium with Kate McKinnon? So Long Island! So Italian!
Simon and Garfunkel, debt collection agency co.
These two are Best Friend goals and also, Bill as Garfunkel is absolutely awesome!!
i love bill hader so much
Ditto!
1:00 sounds like everyone i knew growing up. Laughing so hard I had tears. OMG so funny!
Yes, it’s frightening to me how ‘normal’ this was when I was growing up. Screwy and real. 😂
Bill looks stupid hot in this interview
He is stupid hot
This answers so many questions i have had about Simon and Garfunkel.
These two would be great on drunk history
This clears up so many unanswered, oregano questions about S & G.
What a hilarious duo.
no one will believe this, but I went to high school with Bill hader. graduated a year ahead of me
I bet your school was hilarious.
we were in the same speech class... he used to kill... that's were he freaked his German persona, making fun of the German teacher...Herr Weaver
I'd not be able to give a speech in front of him. You guys learned a lot more than was taught!
do you have any stories to share?? what was he like!
Unbelievable eh
Yes please. More.
bill looks SO GOOD in this interview! i wanna cry and screen
I know, huh?
I need friends with this kind of humour 😂💜
it's an American style of humor so you'll also need to accept your new friends' love of Trump.
Uhh, actually even most Americans are self-aware enough to realize he's a joke. I mean, he had 3 million fewer votes.
3 million difference is just barely less than half of those who voted.
Inbal Ida Well, you'll need to find male friends cause women aren't this funny.
These comments didn't age well
Bill Hader puts that stank on the f word.
I never knew all that stuff about Simon & Garfunkle. So cool
One of my all time fav snl skits was when Paul Simon played "Billy Paul" in the ice cream parlor...such a great memory of my mom and me laughing at this ridiculous parody of the righteous Billy Jack character😂
Jesus, they are the perfect comedy duo haha
Can't imagine this world without 'dees two guys here' :)
It was originally “Mrs. Roosevelt,” but changed to “Mrs. Robinson” for the movie “The Graduate.” True story.
No way!!!!

This shits great they riff so so well
Man this movie would kill if they did it
This is EXACTLY how it happened
I was waiting for Paul Simon to walk in at the end. He had some funny SNL moments. Funny though. 👍
That would be cool, if Simon walked in with two big goons, called Tony and Guido. And then said, 'so you punks got the 50 clams, you owe me?!'
And Hader, without missing a beat, explains, 'But Paulie, we lost it on Da Mets!'
What a great duo
Those guys are hilarious together.
Watching this bromance is half the fun
This is perfect comedy
When is season 3 of Documentary Now coming out!?!?
We need this!
Captain Long Wool Silver 2019!!! That’s all I got
Look at that Soc!!! 😂😂😂😂
The Outsiders
Two of the funniest cast members
why haven't these two gotten a movie deal yet?????? MR. HOLYYWODD MAKE IT HAPPEN. lol idk peas out love you… ?
2:12 I nearly choked on my sandwich when Bill said that 🤣
I'm obsessed with the black and white clips inbetween
Bill would be amazing as a wise-cracking wiseguy in a Scorsese movie. Fred could play the mouthy waiter who gets shot.
But à la Portlandia, Fred would then pop up in a million different roles.
The best male SNL cast members ever!!
1:51 look he's trying not to laugh, that never happened before!
this is like a low budget drunk history
Fred is a totally odd genius
💚
Paul Simon would love this
I literally cracked up laughing when I saw the thumbnail
Their real names were Simonelli and Garfunculo. A lotta people don't know this
Way more about Fred and Bill's improv skills that S&G.
Fred's expression is giving me life lmaoo
I love Art and Garfunkel. Great parody of the album cover.
All true.
Paul Simon is actually a Yankees fan.
Fred Armisen is a comedy weed. Everything you turn around, he has popped up somewhere.
nice how they got paul simon to play fred armisen playing paul simon.
so funny. im dying. this so soooooo funny omgggg
Look up Horrible Histories Simon and Garfunkel song ...absolutely hilarious and fabulous!!!
Confirmed, I was their loan shark.
bill hader is great in Hot Rod!
william causey yeah. He's super badass.
Kevin Fager haha! Naturally read that in his voice 0_0
cool beans
Bill Hader as Garfunkel??? - Clicked on it IMMEDIATELY!!!!
Simon and Garfunkel were enforcers for the Gambinos.
I read that Simon lived together while Garfunkle did not.
"Hey look at the Soc"
Simon and Garfunkel were a bit before my time, but I wanna believe every word of this is true.🤣
I think they are referring to the 50"s more than the 60"s
THANK YOU. I was just about to say that, the stuff they said about greasers, milkshakes and all the bubblegum pop stuff is typical 50s
Hard not to think of S+G not being a couple in some kind of way.
Bill Hader would be a good actor for a documentary of Neil Diamond
All of that was 100% true.
legends!
Just give them a book deal where all they do is write historical fanfiction. You know we'll read it.
Am I the only one who doesn't get the reference to Italian Americans? Weren't S & G of East-European descent ?
I call this show, Documentary Now, "Pee In Your Pants Humor," because that's what happened to me watching the Sandy Passage Episode, not watching it, actually, as maybe my bladder was empty, but trying to describe it to my husband on the phone made me almost pee in my pants, and I laughed so hard I had to hang up, and calm myself down, with terrible sad thoughts. I was a Manny's Shlepper many years ago!
I really can’t handle both of them together 😂
Why is Bill Hader holding a guitar as Garfunkel?
garfunkel used to play guitar until the mob collected on one of his debts.
Hairy Mo I thought your profile pic was a hair.
Yes, I want people to think it's a pube after they've been spooging on the screen.
Wondered the same thing
@@PapagenoMF hilarious
When can we have a movie of Vinny Vedecci and Manuel Ortiz ?
What shoes are Fred wearing
Love his style
Very educational 🤔
"Ehhh, look at that soc!" Hahahahaha
I think they are referring to the 50's.
I need sound on them dancing and singing as S & G
Look at that Soc!! 😏😂😂😂
They described the 50s, not the 60s.
Ngl that historical inaccuracy bugged me 😂
Paul Simon is an avid Yankees fan not Mets 👌
Also, does Hader have a tattoo? (Right upper arm.)
Don't know. It's such a rare thing it's very unlikely tho.
Don't think so. Maybe it's a shadow.
I believe he was filming the first season of Barry at this time so that is most likely his Barry Marine tat since I'm pretty sure he has no real tats lol
Everything they describe in the beginning is actually the 50s
I sincerely hope he doesn't think last names like Simon and Garfunkel are actually Italian 😂
