I think what he means is that Slipknot wasn't expecting to be made an example of. He's not bulletproof, and he was trying to slowly climb a building in clear view of an entire platoon of soldiers.

@@kamikik8840 his "true character" is a D-lister at best who would hang people, got his arm blown off trying to do a runner on his first mission with the Squad, and getting 10 to 15 for shoplifting because Waller leaned on the judge. He's always been a sad joke without a punchline, and he's no different in this movie.

The way slipknot died made me laugh so hard. His escape was so " try hard" and then the guy just pushed a button and his head exploded lol
Cassi Brown they could have showed them what the bomb could do with a fake body, to show that they weren't kidding, but they decided to go with the tell don't show method, instead of kindergarten show and tell, something that would have kept them in line and get rid of any escape plans

I love how his death is meaningless to the plot and the whole movie, but in the new movie they do this so Effectively that is hella funny and great to introduce what the suicide squad is meant for
the diversion squad in gunn's was actually a great way to introduce the meaning of suicide squad name. at first i was confused on why are they killing famous villains instead of using them in future movies, but i understand. this is suicide anyways

He trusted Boomerang. I am afraid Slipknot didn't have a good head "on his shoulders".
This comes after a sequence of a fight between the members of the squad in which Flagg threaten them to blow their heads but they keep fighting anyhow. Deadshot intervenes and stops the fight. Boomerang and Slipknot start to think that the bombs in their necks are all bluff.
Ge@r&@rcher Keep this in mind. Slipknot is apparently one of the smartest members of the squad, having about the same intellect as Harley Quinn and she's a doctor and psychiatrist. This is because he managed to create a formula that when applied to any rope, can make them as strong as steel. (Btw, you have full permission to make fun of me for knowing this much about someone like Slipknot.) However, just like Harley, he's very gullible and was willing to trust Captain Boomerang so quickly causing him to die. In fact the same thing happened in the comics, except instead of his head, his arm exploded. But yeah, he was dead the moment he decided to trust Boomerang.
James Baacke It's ok. I just like to make jokes about what bothers me. In this case, a member of the suicide squad without backstory or introduction being killed so early. But I guess it was necessary, they did the same to KGBeast in Batman assault on arkham.

I like how Deadshot and El Diablo didn’t react. The only two who are fully willing to cooperate with the soldiers and already believe they had a bomb in their necks, but understand that they’re needed and they won’t just be killed randomly at least until the job is done.

The pacing is off. It makes no sense for Boomerang to try escaping again seconds after he just got beatdown and watched another member get his head blown off. If anything, he should have shown serious reservations and initially refused to go along with Harley's plan.
The whole "group whispers about escaping" sequence should have happened before Boomerang and Slipknot attempted to escape.

They clearly talk about killing Flagg BEFORE he can press the button to blow their heads off. Knowing that the bombs are real does not mean they have to just except their fate without question.

You missed my point completely. The second "talk" scene is superfluous and adds nothing to the film that wasn't already covered by the discussion beforehand. That's why it was originally cut in the first place. Hell, most of the deleted scenes added in the extended cut add nothing of value to the final product. It should have been edited into the first conversation.
Like I said, Boomerang should have had serious reservations about doing anything else. He doesn't know what the range of Flagg's detonator is, he still doesn't understand the full extent of what the armed unit can do, and he just got effortlessly stomped by Katana. There's no guarantee that having one or two extra people would make any difference. Boomerang may be unhinged, but he's also all about self-preservation.

flashback fm: Adam Beach, who portrayed "Slipknot", was so, so wasted in this film. He's an award-nominated, award-winning, quality actor. Such a shame.

Here's the problem right away. You have a "suicide squad" designed for suicidal operations then you slap in a whole damn platoon.
Diablo's the only one who wants to do good and suffer for what he has done to his family.

I remember going to see this movie and being really excited to see slipknot because the actor is Native American. And it used to be a lot more rare to see any native on the tv so me and all my friends came with. I cannot even explain the jaw drop on our faces when his head blew up within the first act of the film lmao
Greatest & most memorable character ever! If we're honest we'll admit there's no way they should've completed the mission without the mighty and valuable slipknot.
If they ever reboot this in the distant future, I want Slipknot to be portrayed almost exactly like he is here, almost die in EVERY EPISODE, and then survive EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Really glad Rick Flag was completely different in this new Suicide Squad, made me like the character from the beginning
His character and death were handled poorly, but what most people don’t understand is this scene directly homages the comics, where Captain Boomerang also convinces Slipknot that their control bombs were fakes, causing Slipknot to bail on the mission. The only difference is he doesn’t die in the comic, as the bombs were in wristbands clamped on their wrists. He instead loses his arm.
I love the fact that Harley and deadshot become really good friends by the end of the movie
Savant was in a similar situation as Slipknot but done differently. Savant got exposure at the begging of the movie and gave people the impression he is gonna stay at least for a bit, only to show the audience that the bombs are real

I mean they literally save the world of their own free will even without the bombs. Deadshot especially was a villain in name only as the movie beats it over your head that he is doing this for his daughter and a good guy. Diablo was a pacifist. Harley chose the Squad over the Joker. And the Squad are the thinnest layer of villains you can give someone.
