Evan Walker it takes time to make videos as good as these. You don't even realize the time it must take him to research a topic, find images, voice record, and then edit it all together. You should stop bitching about upload times when you should just be happy he publishes these videos at all for all of us to watch.

Why blame Marvel? Todd left the comic, plus keeping an ip alive is hard work let alone mainting it popular enough to be mainstream and the comic is doing fine. Plus honestly much of its fame came from the collectors bubble (where people would only buy comics thinking the comic would cost a lot like old Spiderman and Superman issues, spoiler: they didn't)

The comic peaked after the first 5 or so years, the toon got cancelled mid-story and the film sucked. Soul Calibur 2 was his last hurrah but i would like so see a hard-R movie reboot and a fixed and restarted book for him. It sucks now and barely sells.

"The Rise of Image Comics" could really make a compelling dramatic film in the current cinema landscape imo. Cast Christian Bale as Todd McFarlane, Matt Damon as Rob Liefeld, and Daniel Dae Kim as Jim Lee. De-age them a bit using the same techniques from Civil War and Ant-Man and I think it could work. Or if casting younger, I'd go with Aaron Paul, Jesse Plemons, and Steven Yeun as McFarlane, Liefeld, and Lee respectively.

Very interesting. You don't normally hear someone say something POSITIVE about 90's comics.
While the launch of Image was absolutely a major milestone in creator's rights and independence, don't you think it's a little odd to hold McFarlane up as the gold standard of creator's rights given his terrible treatment of Neil Gaiman? McFarlane claimed that he would share the rights to the characters the two of them created together in issue 9 (Angela, Cogliostro, and Medieval Spawn) and then backed out of the agreement, claiming it was meant to be work for hire and he exclusively owned the rights to the characters. The guy hardly walked the walk when it came to creator's rights once those creations were worth a substantial amount of money.

I mean to be entirely honest, McFarlane and co. were hijacking existing storylines and characters and just doing whatever they wanted regardless of plot. They were never “great” people to begin with, pushing out people like Claremont and Louise Simonson
That ignores the marvel man lies he told as well which caused a years long legal battle where he was basically lying in court over and over
Neil Gaiman is notoriously known to be an asshole to work with and work for meanwhile Todd has been known to simply be vocal but willing to compromise on many issues so I don’t know where this blind loyalty to him is other than simply ignorance to the dramas Gaiman has caused.

i recently quit my job in order to get the book ive written published within a shorter period of time and to able to solely focus all my energy into the rewrites and editorial process. itll be my first book to get published. ive got another book in rough draft form waiting to be typed. that last sentence you said literally made me start crying for some reason. because i am so scared and so happy to be doing this. thanks dude. i fucking love your channel.

These last two uploads were closer together than usual. I'm so happy! I've fell in love with this channel since the first video. Since 15,000 subscribers. Can't explain how great these videos are. It's almost unbelievable how truly great they are. Feel like these should be on tv with a huge budget and production team.

You wowed me with your Godzilla video, you enamored me with the FLCL video. You got me to fall in love with the "cheesy" X-Men costumes. Those old Superman cartoons I had seen only a few times as a child were given new and enlightening perspectives on a character I usually am bored with. You reminded me that those cartoons were and still are amazing. The level of enthusiasm you have for art, all the way from Calvin & Hobbes to Spawn, is inspiring. Thank you for representing these mediums, these characters, these franchises, with all the respect they deserve.

Hey Christian. I'm starting to be a huge fan of your videos. I'm a huge fan of some of the subjects of your videos (Calvin&Hobbes, Watchmen), & your videos truly do them justice. Keep up the good work.
Context is important on the comics sales numbers you mentioned. There was a huge boom in the comics industry in the '90s followed by a tremendous crash. Those numbers cited were a mix of brand recognition, #1 issue hype, style infatuation, and a craze spinning out of control; the actual quality of the comics themselves had little to do with it.
