great observation mate
Louis Loves People, Art, History, Culture. He admires the World in general, in earnest, from his Heart. That's how he connects universally. We're all capable of it 💞🌎
People don’t realise that only 180,000 convicts were sent to Australia, and the last convicts that were sent there from England arrived in 1868. Over half of the total number of convicts, 90,000 were sent to Tasmania alone. Today Australia is 27 million people. 13 million of them arrived in the country by plane as migrants since 1975. Let that sink in.
It blows my mind that America doesn't know about free settlers in Australia. We're not all convicts...
@@mattellis4270 Tell that to the NSW Police
More convicts were sent to America, but we dont need to know about that....
@@mattellis4270 Yeh and to add, it really fucks me off that its in an overall negative context. Therefore, "we're better".
the weird part to this is... weren't most of America's original settlers also ex-convicts from England? The reason they started sending convicts to Aus was because America and Canada were full ! England was like "uh, where else can we send them? Oh, there's that big dry hot chunk of land down south, let's send em there"

As an American living in Australia for 5 years now the cities look and feel very American. American brands, restaurant chains etc everywhere. Australians are not “wild” like Joe says, they are way more reserved than Americans, for instance, look at their bus stops Australians form perfect lines to wait for the bus whereas in American cities it’s just a chaotic mosh pit waiting for the bus. More reserved but that’s the older crowd. Aussie millennials are almost exactly like American millennials with a few minor variances. You really need to live in an Australian small town to experience what Aussies are really like.

I think the main difference is Aussies are more aligned to a British sense of humour. Good comics from anywhere will still get respect and laughs/applause, we love a good laugh! but watch any Aus/Brit comedian vs. and American one, and there is a world of difference.
Could you please elaborate and perhaps give one specific example of how Australian humor is different…?
@@danidejaneiro8378 There are far better better descriptions than mine but essentially American humor is based on the set up and immediate punchline, repeated over and over whereas British, Aussy, Canadian humor is the story arch and funny bits along the way, pushing the comedy nugget along the path.

Hey Louis and Joe. I'm a Perthon and I'm a FIFO mine worker, so I thought I'd clear some things up... . First of all, Perth or more acurately, Freemantle actually was founded as a convict colony. The gold and Iron mines didn't start up here until long after the convict settlements. Yes, we are covered in iron dust all day if you're up in the Pilbara (Pil-brah) or maybe gold dust if you're working down South in Kalgoorlie (Kal-goo-lee). The roster I'm on is only week on week off and its $150k with bonuses. Not bad for a bloke that left school at 16. Louis is correct about there being nothing around us... I love the culture of WA. I grew up partly in a little coastal suburb where its not unusual for electricans to live next to doctors and share a beer with each other on the weekends. Its one of the few places where trades are considered as important as university degrees and if your university educated daughter marries a heavy diesel machanic he'll probaby earn more money than she ever will . It wasnt until i left WA for Asia as a teen that I discovered this was extremely unusual. Western Australia is one of the most beautiful and diverse places places in the world. Hes right it is it an wierd place.
Rockingham?
The whole place is boring, the isolation factor has created a very strange culture all in of itself. Loui's description of it being different to Sydney and Melbourne is bang on. WA people love it but those of us know, this place isnt for everyone unless you love doing absolutely nothing.
@@rebelofbabylon3091 Anywhere that's not Sydney CBD in Sydney is pretty dead too, tbh. "... they call them the Eastern states"
Yeah, we have cardinal directions in Australia, too.
Yes we all have cardinal directions. Pointless comment
Haha yeah like how could anyone possibly decipher the cryptic meaning behind calling states in the east as The Eastern States.
His point is that in Perth we lump everything east of us together as 'the Eastern States' because we think of ourselves as separate to, and distinct from, the rest of the country. We did once vote to secede, after all, and if it hadn't been for our voter rolls being hurriedly stacked with newly-arrived Easterners by the big gold mine operators of the day, our State never would have voted to join the Federation in the first place...

never going to happen
Cashed up bogans! I lived in Perth for a while. I really enjoyed it. What I found odd about the city was that after 6pm, there's not much to do there. You go thinking you'll have a night out there, and there's not much going on.
There was a man in the town I lived in called Mad Dog, everyone knew him, he rode around on a bicycle with no shoes on and people would shout Mad Dog at him, and he'd growl.
He’s a national celebrity, and someone that no other country would understand or appreciate.
@@lazytitan6848 Mad Dog is known across Australia?
I feel honoured to have met the guy then, I lived on the same housing estate as him.
Mad Dog is still going and still growling
Check out the mad dog compilation on RUclips. One of the funniest things ever.
“Mad dog ya mad c***”
I saw this guy ages ago on a trip to NY , I swear to God he had people literally falling off their seats and laying in the aisles pissing themself laughing, I couldn’t breathe and turned blue! I had to leave cos I was in real trouble!.
He was unknown back then and I was very happy to see he had his own TV show many years later.
As a FIFO for many years I can tell you the money earned went straight into toys!
V8 hotted up cars, jet skis, offshore fishing boats etc etc , the absolute best of times but of course those don’t last forever but the good fun times had by all can never be taken away.
Watching this from my bunk next to a hole haha
I'm Australian and I can count maybe 3,4 great Aussie standup comedians and the rest are boring yet they seem to get all the TV coverage all the time? That's why I watch Netflix or RUclips for good comedy
Can you recommend any? I haven’t seen any yet. I can’t stand the Peter helliars and tommy littles
@@Peterdecz Steve Hughes Carl Barron and Jim Jefferies are a few great one's 👍
@@madazza yeah, true, I did forget about JJ. I’ll look up CB👍🏻cheers

Aussie, here. Melbourne is the woke capital of Australia, so Louis might've been playing to a room of humorless moral narcissists who think political conformity and mental illness is a personality.
Basically the whole of Victoria.
I wish i knew Louie was touring in Australia!!!
This is an unusually accurate summary of Australia. The parrot business is very true.
Australian living near Melbourne here: never bothered to visit AU comedy clubs because I've never liked an Aussie comic. Friendly jordies is good
Why? The Comedy Festival has some great comedians
@@melsmithmel who's your favourite? I'll look them up
I can't stand his voice. It's the worst
Sammy J and Randy are pretty good, in my opinion.
Rodney Rude. He doesn't do it anymore but his shit was absolutely hilarious. Isaac Butterfield is alright.
I saw Dave Chappell was touring Australia. I thought about going to see him. But then figured he’d probably do all the American politics stuff and then just simply couldn’t be bothered. But Ironically I probably wouldn’t have wanted to see it if he personalised for Australian audience. Because it’s lack nuance and be disingenuous. But the stuff in america wouldn’t work here we don’t have or care about American politics.
Who needs politics when you have The Chats?
So you’re just impossible to please. Noted.
@Trevor Distance Australia has a saying 'tall poppie syndrome' and this guy is the epitome of that saying
Yes we do..we are heavily influenced by American culture..The Trump jokes would be funny to us.
There’s not a country on Earth that doesn’t care about US politics, that’s why so many come to Joe Bogan’s poocast
Gotto hand it to Louis CK - he absolutely nailed us there. Best example/summation I have seen from any American on Australia/Perth/Mining and FIFO work ;)
loll, best description of Perth FIFO life
I'm from perth and work in the mines, entirely accurate 😂
Damn never thought I’d hear the term FIFO on Joe’s podcast 😂 awesome
That was hilarious 😂 😅 FIFO 😭😭😭😆
Fly in - fly out..... che ching! 💰(cashed up bogans)
I thought the back said bogan when I was scrolling.
I saw LCK in Perth, I was laughing throughout the show
I felt the same when I visited America. It was trippy AF.
Louis CK is a king. From his short time you can tell he took some info in. He even says Melbourne in a normal way which is rare for a Americans. They normally say MelBORN but he pronounces it well.
Man how refreshing it is to hear Louis CK tell a pretty accurate depiction of Australia. Really nice knowing there are some people who give a damn about our history.
Louis gets it. Suprisingly well informed about Perth.
As an fifo worker it’s more modernised now than what old maté describes, he is talking about the old mining times
Perth born but US raised, I would love to show them what Perth is about they would probably love it more.
It was such a great show watching Louis ck.
Shocking venue though, rac arena was waaaaay to big , but I got front row seats 😄
