    Just got one for my Behringer Go rack. Very well made and thought out design.
    Love the 100 series of modules.
    Thanks for the great description of the different functions .

    To anyone interested in this module, the price just MASSIVELY dropped at sweetwater :) this video alone was the deciding factor even though I technically don't have the rack space or voltage to spare :D

    i wanna get all the system 100 modules too. i have like half of them. i see you are missing sequencer. why you go for arp 2600 sequencer instead of system 100 ?

    Thank you for the great walkthrough and demo! I've been eyeing this module for a while and finally ordered one; I'm excited to start playing with it.
    (Any idea how dumb it would be to remove the AC coupling on the ring mod by replacing the capacitors with jumpers/0-ohm resistors?)

      If I would start soldering the SMD parts, the idea would be very dumb... But perhaps you have the right tools and skills to do so!

    Like always, great video explaining also the electronic processes behind. Never thought about the time-depending voltage drop at S&H, so this was a learning from me, although I‘ve also got this module since some months. Is the electronic circuit of system 100 available in the internet anywhere? I was googling, but couldn‘t find it…

      You can sometimes find used service manuals where the circuitry is explained in detail. There's also a very helpful website www.florian-anwander.de/roland_system100m/ with lots of info.

    Thanks for the video. And then what to do with these records? How do you make a track out of them?

    5:53min that sounded so fat i need to try on my system have all the modules too
    can you quickly break down the patch?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  2 года назад +2

      The patch looks more complicated than it is, only a part of it is actually in use there. Essentially I used two VCOs (square wave output) and the Synthvoice. One VCO goes into the S&H signal input (input set to ext), the other one drives the S&H clock. The S&H output goes into the Synthvoice VCF and the Synthvoice output is what you hear. The Synthvoice VCF is modulated by an envelope (triggered by an LFO). The synthvoice internal VCO is completely turned down in volume. So you could also replace the Synthvoice by a Filter + VCA.

      Oh it's pretty solid for its price, nothing negative so far.

    Very informative indeed! I was wondering if the Ring Mod worked properly because obviously I wanted to try use it as an bipolar VCA so that explains it. Eh ich werde einfach auf deutsch weiter reden. Ich habe auch bemerkt dass je langsamer der Modulator (Y) desto leiser der Output.
    Auch, der Output vom S&H ist sehr leise wenn er auf dem internal noise geschaltet ist, wenn ich jedoch ein externes rauschen bei EXT einfuehre, funktiniert es perfektomato. Ist es bei dir auch so?
    Thanks for the video, anyways. Gruesse :D

      For me its also very silent with internal noise, or feels like the range of S/H voltages is not so high

    • @andewprod
      @andewprod 2 года назад +2

      @@neodym1337 yeah thats what i talked about, i wonder why they kept It (if It was a flaw of roland in first place). The "regular" noise output is also pretty low. Andd the clock of the s&h is way faster than the original one. 😂😂 I still love this module tho its just quirky and analog, thats why we got It right?

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  2 года назад +2

      Hi! Ja, die interne Noise scheint wirklich eher leise zu sein, der LFO gibt deutlich mehr Power raus. Mit einem langsamen Modulator ist es halt so wie mit keinem Modulator - die AC Kopplung zieht ja das langsame Signal auf Null. Und dann wird Null mit dem anderen Input multipliziert, da kommt nicht viel bei raus.

    How bad is the signal drop? I want one, but ...ya know...I hear there's terrible signal loss

    • @synthesizer83
      @synthesizer83  Год назад +2

      You mean with the S&H? It's ok as long as you use it with a frequent trigger, and perhaps not for any pitch cv. Filter modulation is fine with it. If you mean the ring modulator, I don't have a clue.

    Brooooo. I came here to know what this ring modulator does and now I'm actually dying in real life, like, physically and slowly and painfully XD you sound so cute. Don't cover your voice like that. Especially not when telling me what the heck the ring mod does XD
