    As an avid splatoon player, the motion controls in ninjala are a little janky compared to splatoon's. Splatoon's motion controls are a bit more refined so for me, since I'm more used to splatoon's controls, its a little hard to use motion in ninjala. In splatoon its usual ill-advised to reset your camera often because it could throw you off if you reset it a little too much

    • @Peekmp

      Ah that’s a super interesting insight, thanks for sharing that. I think Ninjala’s main camera issue comes whenever you’re on a vertical surface like when you climb a wall-the camera goes to the pits and a lot of the times you get disoriented. Guess it’ll be tough for me to readjust if I ever start playing Splatoon! 😂

    The gyro scope is great for the controller/tv mode. Handheld not so much because your screen is obviously attached, but the fact your attacks aren't necessarily linked to your camera angle is a great asset.
    As a side note, the neutral colors and shapes of the morphs doesn't attract the human eye like a humanoid character does. So a box or gate flying through the sky is more likely to go unnoticed when you're not focusing on combat at the time.

    Although I agree gyro will help with movement a lot, it's honestly not that good when in combat. At 7:25 you can still see him using the right stick when engaging. After that when using motion controls he was just running everywhere. Also, all the advanced movements shown can also be achieved when not using motion controls.
    On paper, yes it's useful and helps with movement. In reality, majority of console players aren't sitting at a desk resting their hands on a solid table. With sensitivity at max, any slight movement during combat will make you miss your attacks. It'd be clearer if you show a full match with hand cam. You'll realize you do not use gyro as much when in combat. Gyro is just better for shooters because aiming on a controller is crap.
    All in all good video, good points about the morph dash.

    • @Peekmp
      @Peekmp  4 года назад +3

      Oh for sure, in a normal match I basically only use motion for up and down movements-sticks are sufficient for horizontal panning 95% of the time. You’ll see I barely use the horizontal function of gyro unless I’m really trying to move quickly because it just doesn’t work well enough. And I don’t play with my hands on the desk normally haha, this was just to get a stable image for you guys. Normally I’m sitting on my bed or rested back in my chair and motion still works great for snapping the camera up better than sticks by far and doesn’t disrupt combat at all, but it also takes time to get used to it. Thanks a bunch for the kind comments and support of the video! :D I appreciate the great discussion!

    Hey Peek. Found a better way to do these bubble dashes without using motion controls. Reconfig the camera reset to d-pad up, then the left stick push to lock-on and finally the right stick push to jump. You'll be left with B unbound so you can set it to whatever you want. This takes a little getting used to as you need to press right stick to jump but it enables everything you shown here with the gyro since you are free to look around and jump without taking your thumb off the right stick.

    You've never played Splatoon or Splatoon 2, yet you're playing Ninjala? Splatoon 2 is an absolutely amazing game that you really should consider playing, especially since you seem to like online multiplayer like that. 1:20 It only felt uncomfortable at first since it was a 3rd party programmed motion controls, the official one made by Nintendo used in Splatoon 2 is much better and doesn't add any weird extra momentum, it's just wherever your hands move, and they've set rules to never make the camera move on the Y axis without you tilting the controller that way (unlike Ninjala)...

    @Peekabros I love motion/gyroscope controls in Splatoon, seeing as they're much more established & don't need resetting literally every 2 seconds. Unfortunately, I, like MANY other Nintendo players, now have some extent of drift on ALL of my Nintendo Switch controllers (I have all of them: Wired & Wireless included). So for Ninjala's janky motion controls, this can be seriously detrimental in both using heavily-camera-controlled Ninjitsu Specials such as 'Piercing Mixer'/'Fujiyama Rocket' and even moving around FULLSTOP😰 Yes I'm aware that Ninjala is new & am hoping this will be improved in future, but for now, as it stands; "Motion controls are a nono brobro😔👎🚫

      Yeah, gyro camera definitely takes some getting used to in this game, and it isn’t perfect at all. I play a mix of normal and ranked, but since I’m currently around top 50, the ranked point gains are so little it’s almost not worth playing getting +1 and +2 for a 1st place finish in battle Royale. Hoping they fix it a bit to make it more climbable but for now the general consensus of top players is that it isn’t worth grinding the minuscule point gains in the current state of ranked.

    My only personal problem with a morph dash is how it kills momentum of really your new movement option in the game.

    • @Peekmp
      @Peekmp  4 года назад

      I’m not sure what you mean-if anything, it does the exact opposite of killing the momentum. When you morphdash you don’t have to worry about your gum bubble expanding again and slowing your dash velocity. It’s actually better than normal gum dashes because you get the full momentum carried out all the way through until you hit the wall/ground.

    • @justcosmi
      @justcosmi 4 года назад +1

      Peekabros so basically, when you gum dash, you’re being shot forward by the gum. And the moment you transform, you instantly stop being shot forward and go into a state where you’re just moving off that dash velocity. The thing is, that you’re better off just taking your finger off the bubble button, then heading to the ground as fast as possible to gum dash again. When you transform you give up a valuable amount of defense, and plus, the last thing you’d want to do if you’re being chased is drop your only method of defense. If anything, having a bubble blown is better than being transformed. The bubble literally defends you from almost everything in the game, and the moment you touch the ground with a bubble blown, you can just get going again. The concern about floating down can be easily nullified by just taking your finger off the button as soon as the dash ends. And bubble blowing is really fast, so if you’re worried about not having movement, once you hit the ground, blowing a bubble and dashing again is literally your best option, as long as you haven’t exhausted your s energy, since you can gum dash as long as your s energy isn’t exhausted. In conclusion, a normal gum dash with bubble is better than a morph dash.

      Ahhh I see what you’re saying now, thanks for clarifying. So actually, even though the gum trail animation disappears when you morph, you’re still being vaulted forward. I agree there is definitely a time and place when floating down/being ready to re-expand your bubble is better, but yeah you actually keep moving and get the entirety of the gum dash velocity by doing this even though the gum trail animation trail disappears when you morph (about halfway through). The sound cue confirms this as well. There is definitely a usage case for both mechanics, and I don’t think one should be used exclusively over the other.

      It really just comes down to what you personally prefer. If you wanna be on the attack/defense morph dashing probably isn’t the best, but if you need to escape and heal up, morph dash is a really good option.

    when buying the Ninjala pass with the automatic 25 tiers does it add up with your current tier?
    What if your already at 25 before getting it?

    You may want to do a video covering the special combo attacks that have been discovered and are being documented on Reddit. Some of them not only offer new movement options but also boost the damage potential of a combo. You can find details here: www.reddit.com/r/NinjalaTheGame/comments/hj2jg4/did_you_know_ninjala_has_hidden_special_combo

      For sure! I’ve been looking at the different attacks since the betas-some honorable mentions being the hammers getting a blink attack and the drill getting a bayonetta move. I’ll take a look at this thread-Definitely a great idea for a future video! Thank you. 😁

      Yeah I tried it in handheld mode and it’s pretty rough-maybe you could use the joycon grip and just prop your switch up on a nightstand/table? As Rafael said though, the technique is the same regardless of control type-should still be useful to get up high in the maps!

      Peekabros To be honest, I'm a Splatoon player (motion controls obviously), and appart for controlling the sting ray right after a vertical dash or backwards vert-dash (as long as you use the L-stick button to recenter the cam), motion controls feels a bit off but are still great.
      Actually, I was rewatching the video while typing and, I was doing the Backwards in a wrong way so I have to tried it out again
