    Born, raised, and still in PG. PG county is a crazy place because you definitely have some sketchy areas…friendship heights, capital heights, Marlo heights, parts of suitland and oxon hill. But you also have other cities like largo, Greenbelt, Bowie, etc…that have 750-1M homes everywhere. Woodmore/Mitchellville recently topped the list of most affluent black cities in the US with and average median income of 180K and 128K respectfully.

    Let us remember this vital point; BLACK people did NOT create the public housing spaces; white people developed them to segregate us from white society. The so-called "Hood" is a deliberate housing project built in an area with little to no real resources or opportunities for people living in these controlled communities. These BLACK targeted communities are infested with liquor stores, fast food, and payday loans as a tool to promote poverty and poor health. Most BLACk people can not afford to choose a living space that is thriving and full of opportunities; most black people have to settle for what was created to keep them suppressed by limiting resources in these areas.

    • @PrevailingFreedom
      @PrevailingFreedom 2 года назад +1

      The culture in those communities is what is keeping them from ever getting anywhere. People don’t have fathers, they join gangs, get into drugs and so on. I’m sure the housing contributes to it but it’s not just “white people” who have ruined their community. It’s how they’ve grown up and the culture their ancestors passed down. African immigrants today, if they stay away from those areas, can do very well and have no problem.

Make use of opportunities that are out there, such as education, trade schools, counseling, etc. and so no to drugs. Only negative resources are put out in theses areas that line the pockets of others such as drugs, policing, corruption, liquor stores, corner stores and yes and some do nothing Churches. Wonder why drugs are allowed to penerate these areas with all the policing. Apparently there is alots of corruption going on. Yet this is allowed.

A neighbor who worked for the fire department shot at me because a dog was barely on his property. I was trying to explain I was recovering from brain surgery and the dog didn't know me. Most of these places are completely different from what they used to be. Forest Creek was constantly at it with Amberwood. Which is literally across the dang street. It was never a dull moment with crack addicts. I've had family and friends in many of these areas. Me too! If you had come in with a camera years ago, things could have been bad for you. ESPECIALLY in Glenardan Apts and Stratford Woods Apts. They were so bad they were DEMOLISHED!
    Couple that I didn't see Mattapony, Maple Ridge, Kings Square(Dodge park), and Heritage Square. Still better than they used to be.
    Went to STL and looked around and thought I was in a third-world country with so many entire neighborhoods abandoned. Almost everybody carrying guns and hard liquor, is sold in CVS and EVERY gas station! Ain't nobody asking can you spare change at the gas station. They come right out and ask ANYBODY, "Aye you got 5/10 dollars?"🤦🏾‍♀️ I promise! They do this thing where they speed through red lights for fun. Told me straight to my face. "You ain't from here, I can tell."
    Didn't bother to ask how. ✌🏾

      @J Taylor lived in DMV my whole life and if that person is visiting then ok but if they live in that neighborhood with that car then those people are not the smartest people in world, not by far. Having a car while living in the hood is the most ghetto thing ever with no priorities.

    At one point in history these were nice apartments. Also, a lot of complexes in the city were nice as well. I’m just going to let that sink in for a minute.

    PG has very big complexes. For example,a complex in PG can fill up 1/4th of a town and you can easily get lost in it
