Also, as a US citizen I must say that the grounds for a refugee status for her now changed and she is free to return to Sri Lanka and continue her profession than a meager interior decorator job in Seattle. Also that will make her 20 year old son be happy too. Also, I like point out that in the slide she referred as the death threat, I did not see the word “Bitch” as she claimed. I felt that she did not expect a Sinhala reader in the audience. Such embellishments could have been omitted.

We had fine commanders then, of the Army, Navy, Airforce, and Police as well as the valiant soldiers who fought bravely went ahead and gave their lives (over 25,000) to end the war and let the rest of us live in peace in this country! May they rest in peace! Gotabaya, left the Army in 1991 during the height of LTTE terror to go overseas but instead, stayed on and worked at Maharaja's and another company and got his American citizenship only in 2003. Don't forget President Chandrika's time she gave leadership to end the war too and the military were able to capture several areas including Jaffna Fort. It was during her time that the best equipment was procured to end the war.

During the 30 year war, there were different heads of state in our country as well as different commanders of the Army, Navy, Airforce, Police etc. and different people in the forces. All heads of state wanted to end the war but there were interfearances from various international forces. First during JR's time (We had Athulathmudali too then, ) the army had surrounded Vadamarachchi and was about to capture Prabahakaran, when Rajive Gandhi dropped that Parrippu goni and entered into a pact. No foreign country wanted to help us other than a few like Pakistan. After 9/11, and after Rajive Ghandi was killed by the LTTE, Most ruthless terrorists in the world whom he protected, things eased a bit for us. Chandrika got the best equipment to crush to LTTE. She wanted peace. But peace talks were always preceded by the bombing of various important places in the country by LTTE and therefore she declared war. the Forces were able to capture several LTTE strongholds. By the time we ended the war, there were commanders of the forces who were determined to finish the war, and we salute President Mahinda for giving the political backing to finally end the war.
