This guy is like super awesome! Only person every to get dirty and show his work with a reason why and such in real time. I used many of his videos to rebuild my 1/5 scale trace racer rcs
Just installed one of these on my bike on Monday and can't wait for more videos on this project. My brother & i have done extensive work to mine but haven't been able to run it yet.
I think you are seeing even more gains than just tweaking the magnet with the stock system since the stock CDI is not very strong. Good stuff! Cant wait to see your results when you build a pipe.
excellent job. I never touched my ignition system besides the one time I got water inside and had to replace the magneto. now i'm thinking I probably should mess around with it.
you probably know this but the more you advance your ignition timing, the more heat the engine is going to produce, so be sure that youre jetting is sorted so you wont seize...
Wow I didn't think advanceing the timing would make that much of a difference. I'll have to try it on my zeda 80. I already have every performance part they make
These bike motors are fun to play with. I noticed a big increase in top speed (power) when I modified the piston skirt on the intake . Also running on ethanol seemed to improve performance. It's cool you have a dyno to check the performance after modifications. Cheers
I love this Videos of the motorized bike, i'm so happy when i see there is a new video of this thing🔝 and an idea is, that you make the flywheel lighter by drilling holes
Yes that makes it hard. Maybe try another run with the muffler end cap off to compare like last time to see if it has the same effect, and maybe a run with the outlet pipe closed off very slightly as well as this run to compare.. It will tell you fairly quickly if the engine will gain much benefit from a tuned expansion chamber. If there is some noticeable diff in adjustments to the outlet pipe then you can expect to get something from a tuned expansion chamber. If not then its possibly a bit lame in the BMEP department and might need some port mods. More back pressure creates more port plugging effect even without a baffle cone and over a wider range. If you remove it totally then intake spilling should occur at exhaust port and power drop a lot and closing it up some boost in power at least somewhere in the range if not top end, if there is not much effect then a new tuned chamber doesn't have as much to work with. A mild pipe might give you more lower down under those conditions but I would not expect much top end boost if the engine is not up to par on the gas side.
And what is the stock spark advance? 25 degree of advance seems too much for me. If the main jet still .75 than the mix is too rich, maybe that's the reason of high advance spark effect.
Dam bro every impressive video and what you are doin here I just built. My first chopper build and really like your video here do you have more on makin them run better mine seems. To not sound like yours at all and boggs out alot I know nothing about engines and most people videos are not very detailed like what you got goin on much respect
Wowoowow say that again tci ignigtion I'm having problems with that in my fzr1000 1989 motorcycle I just wanna bypass everything else to make it turn on so there is spark any tips I have a problem with the electrical the wont turn on the cdi I think one wire to the relays is bad but yeah
Looks like it ran a little rough and weak with the 20° timing in low rpm. Perhaps only advance so much in higher rpm. I'm sure the ignition can do more than flat map?
Like i always say, factory ignition timing numbers are always conservative and if you have the skills to test there are always some free horsepower to be found. My silly little 165 hp honda....the ignition is locked unless you spend a hundred dollars on a +4* degree reluctor wheel...the +4* was good for .2 tenths of a second from 0-70 mph...i elongated to holes for the pickup for +2* more and that was good for another .10...and...its an 11.5-1 motor that still runs best on 89 octane.
Im thinking of getting a zeta engine with the 40mm ports and m8 fastners because my old engine just crapped out on me. It had about 40 miles on it when one day it wouldent start so i took it completely apart. Cracked the case the whole nine, after re assembly and a good cleaning i found it was still giveing me the same problems loss of compression. So i messed with the top end for a while now and found the leak comming from the side of the sparkplug manafold i look inside and theres a huge piece of the threads missing and it gose all the way to the out size like a drill hole threw the case towards the cooling fins. I jb weld some new threads and its all good right, well no its squeeking now im guessing its the head gasket. Its been outside all winter before i took it apart and cleaned it. Its getting a nice blue spark from the new cdi with the big red wire and new ngkb7hs spark plug. wtf is wrong with this thing???
Im running 2.5 oz a gallon of 80 something octane, all they have at the closest pump. Im about to fit a tin gasket if i can find some laying around. I also noticed the head kinda raises on one side when I trque it down lossing all compression i did sand the stock head and surface. Maybe its a bad head? Could i bring it back to life? What Im thinking is if i can't get this POS pk80 running. Then i probably whon't be able to get the zeda running if i run into problems i really feel beaten by this thing iv come so far.
wouldn't it be great if the engine has a heavyweight flywheel? I'm sure you have seen the centrifugal clutch adapter and side cover but rather then use the clutch instead somehow attached a heavy flywheel where the centrifugal clutch would be! love to see if you would actually try this!
2STROKE STUFFING I can imagine it would enhance low end torque or boost momentum for start off during manual clutch engagement . thanks for the input. I subscribed to you're video's to see what's new for the bicycle mount engine.
2STROKE STUFFING what would you recommend me for an ignition from powerspark? i have 1 cylinder and would like to use it in the old day, i have not installed a 12v battery and do not want to install one. but operate with on-board power. does it work? sorry for the google translator, i'm coming from switzerland (german) I think your videos are cool and exciting, keep it up 👍🏻
2STROKE STUFFING Awesome! That's the answer I want. Looking forward to see the video mate. Cheers. Really good making a subscriber enjoy the channel, at least for me tho.
+Poon Tsunami It's probably a good idea since it's single speed and needs bottom end and top end power. The variable nature of reeds is better for this than piston ports fixed and symmetrical timing.
2STROKE STUFFING there are so many to choose from, would you say a 6 flap reed thats attached to the cylinder jug (from zeda about 100$ with the cylinder and oko carb on amazon)would be better than a 2 flap reed that bolts to the stock ports(about 57 dollars with an upgraded carb from china)?( there are new in-case reed valves out there as well but pretty pricey )Youve inspired me to buy a kit so im looking into upgrades as well. Also would the programmable cdi in this video work on the stock flywheel?
+Poon Tsunami Without knowing anything about the two options, robably more umph in the 6 flap cylinder. The PowerSpark will not work with the stock flywheel, the magnets would cause multiple false trigger points.

2STROKE STUFFING thought it was Lagavulin, one of the peatiest whisky you can get. Try Laphroaig if you like that strength of taste but it must be expensive where you are!
Awesome I’ve been hanging out for another vid do you think there is much to be gained for changing the carb at all? I can’t imagine the cheap Chinese ones are that good
overr8ted2 there has to be as I have one and they are shit!intake manifold has all those kinks and not matched to port and carb has no pilot or idle.40’s tech.and the air filter on these bike engine kits is so bad,you might as well tip dirt down the carb yourself!i wouldn’t mind trying a 19mm mikuni.
Yea they are pretty rubbish I’d like to see a nice bell mouth trumpet on the end of the carb too straighten up the air flow and get it working more efficiently
2STROKE STUFFING haha a lil annoying at high rpm, but sounds fantastic at idle and lower rpm. Really has a nice grunt to it, sounds like a v8 for a little bit actually haha
Happy oudeyaar! Nice fab work on the ignition system. Good result so far. What kind of timing did the moped run at 20 Hp? 2.5 out of that engine is great, but I am sure more to come. Holland was the only place in Europe I ever spent New Years
Im having issues with fouling spark plugs NGK on my modified Suzuki ts50er. To the point that it's a struggle to get the carburettor fine tuned. Soaks the plug 2-3 times before i get it running stable. Its a no reed valve cylinder kit on the bike so that's probably not making it easier in regard of tuning the low end of the carb. The Powerspark Ignition sure would make tuning easier but what do you recommend for spark plugs. There must be spark plugs out there more forgiving in regards to rich mixture setup on cold start. Lagavulin. Great stuff!
+Mario Raja Not really. Assuming your bike has a pipe, 25° ignition advance at peak power rpm is about 10° too much. Probable reason it works here is a combination of bad cylinder filling and low squish velocity/low turbulence - slow combustion.
Hey brother thanks for the video I'm just getting into these little motor iv been building one and I've been trying to find a way to advance the timing...are going to start selling the ignition module that you made??
With all them tools and know how why are you still using a chain tensioner no matter how good the chain tensioner works they make for a bad ride .. Build something that allows you to move motor and tighten the chain that way and you will see huge change in smoothness ... Just look at your chain in your video it don't look like its to bouncy but even that small amount is allot bad vibes... And another tip is to put a ubolt to clamp your muffler to the frame as tight as you can and don't use any rubber damping stuff you want that motor solid to the frame no play at all makes night and day diff
Nice to see someone putting these mods to the test with real numbers instead of just feel of it. Good work!
+Colin B Thanks!
How dare you question the butt dyno??? Kidding, glad someone is showing us dyno charts on their mods.
I love this series, so interesting to see what each modification does. Thanks for your effort!
+DerMagirus Agree! Thanks!
its so cool you can hear the difference! cant wait to see the exhaust, awesome work bro.
+Dragon800 It is! Thanks!

Man id love it if you could make a flywheel/TCI conversion kit. I'd Buy it in a heart beat.
Just installed one of these on my bike on Monday and can't wait for more videos on this project. My brother & i have done extensive work to mine but haven't been able to run it yet.
+Janella Snelling Cool, thanks!
how happy i was when you said next time we will try a proper pipe :) nice video man this is really interesting! keep it up :)
+Kristoffer Persson Thanks! Yeah it's time!
Great vid! Good to see how timing changes affect the engine. Happy new year!
+Dave Spooney Thanks, happy new year!
This is so brilliantly nerdy... love it! Merry Christmas and a happy new year, greetings from Denmark.
+Mads Villebro Thanks😂 Merry Christmas!
Cant wait to see the huge power gain of next episode with a expansion pipe! A part that is seriously underestimated by allot motorized bikers
Merry Christmas to you as well. Dang near 1 hp gain that's pretty cool.
+Chris Edge Thanks!
HOW?!?! Your motor sounds perfect
Merry Christmas brother love your work
+Chris Piazza Thanks, Merry Christmas!

I think you are seeing even more gains than just tweaking the magnet with the stock system since the stock CDI is not very strong. Good stuff! Cant wait to see your results when you build a pipe.
+Dale McKenna Might be!
Short video with top content. Keep it up, it's a pleasure to watch and learn. Thank you !
+Pascal FIOCCONI Thank you!
Very awesome. thanks again for all the work and effort you put in to helping us understand how some of these things work and effect end performance.
+NicGyver Thanks! It's all fun!
Great work this step for step dyno testing and adjusting mods 👍👌
Happy New Year my friend, here from Brazil, your work is amazing.

These bike motors are fun to play with. I noticed a big increase in top speed (power) when I modified the piston skirt on the intake . Also running on ethanol seemed to improve performance. It's cool you have a dyno to check the performance after modifications. Cheers
I heard ethanol is bad for 2 strokes, it doesnt mix with the oil or something
@@robertsironen1243 alcohol based fuels are corrosive and can cause problems in carburators if not stored and cleaned properly
Happy new year man thanks for all you shared great job💯 helpfully
+Collective Pitch 86 Thanks! Happy new year!
I love this Videos of the motorized bike, i'm so happy when i see there is a new video of this thing🔝 and an idea is, that you make the flywheel lighter by drilling holes

Great job
GREAT VIDEO ! I know what my next project is.
Thanks!
Happy new year MacGyver
+Ed Boer Thanks, happy new year!
Hey man would love to see you one day build up a Cr500 or cr80 to see what you can build them up to
Great work as always brother
+Ford For Life Thanks! Might happen!
2STROKE STUFFING would be cool to see, if cr500s even exist over there lol
You will need a heavier roller!! I'm building a cr500 shooting for a reliable 80hp love these videos
Good its going again, were you able to do any comparison to see what effect more intake timing had.
+AuMechanic Not really as I don't know what stock ignition timing was...

A mild pipe might give you more lower down under those conditions but I would not expect much top end boost if the engine is not up to par on the gas side.
+AuMechanic Sounds like a plan for the next video! Thanks!
With the extremely limited blowdown I suspect it needs all the help it can get getting rid of spent gasses.
Yeah i just looked back at the other vid at the 140 Ex and 120 Tr.
That ex timing might need a tweak too.
Why do you cut the piston skirt? What does it do?
Increased intake duration.
And what is the stock spark advance? 25 degree of advance seems too much for me. If the main jet still .75 than the mix is too rich, maybe that's the reason of high advance spark effect.
+Alex Ray Sounds plausible! Not sure what stock advance was.
any similar ignition but with power for lights/battery charge?
VERY GREAT VIDEO, thank you so much
+IamTROLLIFIC Thanks!
I wish I could keep up with your videos but I saw you made a specific video about that tci I'll take a look

39% increase in HP is impressive. That's the equivalent of adding a supercharger to a v8 engine and going from 300hp to just over 400hp.
Nice work
+The slow lane adventures Thanks!
Can you show the torque numbers too?
+Bike Builder I'll have to hook up the rpm sensor, I'll do that for the next run.
Looks like it ran a little rough and weak with the 20° timing in low rpm.
Perhaps only advance so much in higher rpm.
I'm sure the ignition can do more than flat map?
+Tilman Baumann yes it can, did flat line for simplicity.
+TheFunniestFarm I will, just keeping it simple with a flat line for now.
where is the link to the progammable ignition system you use ?
+Pascal FIOCCONI Oops, forgot it... It's in the description now. www.power-spark.de/index_en.html

are you worried at all with the flywheel if its balanced properly do you think it will have a negative effect on the crank bearings?
+Dragon800 Nope. Any small unbalance in the flywheel is negligible compared to the massive unbalanced forces from the reciprocating mass.
thats a good point
+Dragon800 I should maybe be worried about that 8mm chineseium axle tho...
agreed

You intend on putting a reed on it ? You seem like the expert, is it worth it on something so simple

I like to see if it matters,
I'm curious if the whole graph changes
Why does it hollow out in the middle at 25deg? deto? your videos are great keep it up!

Awesome I’ve been hanging out for another vid do you think there is much to be gained for changing the carb at all? I can’t imagine the cheap Chinese ones are that good
+overr8ted2 Should be with a larger one, but the intake needs work first.
overr8ted2 there has to be as I have one and they are shit!intake manifold has all those kinks and not matched to port and carb has no pilot or idle.40’s tech.and the air filter on these bike engine kits is so bad,you might as well tip dirt down the carb yourself!i wouldn’t mind trying a 19mm mikuni.

2STROKE STUFFING thanks for the answer! :)

Lagavulin. Great stuff!
Lagavulin sure is tasty! Have you tried a fine wire electrode plug like BR10EG? Could help, not sure they're available in short reach.
Do you recommend doing this tuning on a 125 2 stroke daily driver?
+Mario Raja Not really. Assuming your bike has a pipe, 25° ignition advance at peak power rpm is about 10° too much. Probable reason it works here is a combination of bad cylinder filling and low squish velocity/low turbulence - slow combustion.
2STROKE STUFFING okei thanks for the advice
Hey brother thanks for the video I'm just getting into these little motor iv been building one and I've been trying to find a way to advance the timing...are going to start selling the ignition module that you made??

did you up jet as well , or is that increase all from timing ?
+Adam Brown All from timing, seems to be running fine so haven't touched jetting yet. That might change with a pipe.
I'm surprised the bike liked so much timing at high rpm, restricted exhaust or poor port timing guess i'm going to have to wait and see
+Adam Brown It's probably a combination of bad cylinder filling and low squish velocity/low turbulence - slow combustion.
