    Lk 16:9 is one of hardest lessons in the parables for me to understand: “I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.” In trying to see something new about God’s character, Jesus is not saying that how I use my money doesn’t matter. I think He’s saying that if you want to be wiser about using money, then use it to benefit others, because that will give you an eternal benefit.

      One interpretation I have heard is once the money - the distraction, the temporal - is gone, you can focus on the truly important: eternal, Heaven.

      I honestly don't believe that Jesus agreed with the laziness of the worker. TLC shared Jesus saying that if we use that shrud method, dishonesty, we will not enter His Kingdom. I took this more to compare how lazy we can all be. Even though works aren't tied to salvation we should do Kingdom work as if our lives depend on it. Putting our money towards Kingdom priorities instead of keeping up with the Jones, being worried about how the world around us views us. True riches are Eternity riches. Like you said, using our money to win others to Jesus🎉

    Luke 16- We are God's money managers and we are not to waste His possessions (v1). We are to use wealth to build relationships and bring others into the Kingdom (v9). We are to serve God only and not money (v13). Money is just a tool. Once again, it's all about our hearts and He knows our hearts (v15).

    This just melts my heart!
    “And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks:
    and he was a Samaritan.”
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭17‬:‭15‬-‭16‬
    Lord Jesus,
    I surrender all!!!

    I always thought that verse nine meant to use your worldly wealth to advance God’s kingdom. That’s the purpose of wealth.

    What is awesome about the miracle for the 10 lepers, is that the 1 who came back to thank Jesus was made WHOLE. That means he got all his skin and limbs and extremities back. The other 9 just had the leprosy healed.

      My study bible says this: "Jesus answered the disciples' question about where his coming would take place with a proverbial saying. It is easy to find a corpse by noting where the vultures are circulating. Similarly, there will be no hiding Christ's second coming. It will be obvious to the entire world."

    • @driverdave1298
      @driverdave1298 10 месяцев назад +10

      Yes.
      Rapture (harpazo) and the return are synonymous.
      What we are getting here is a little bit of context, because Jesus Christ (who IS the kingdom), is foretelling of the cross and our yearning for Him.
      From verse 23 through 37, Jesus continues to reaffirm that His return will be “completely obvious“.
      Just like lightning, or the person next to you getting snatched away, you’re going to notice.

    I’m still confused about why the manager was rewarded for dishonesty…😢

    • @TheSteveBOliver
      @TheSteveBOliver 10 месяцев назад +1

      The "master" (not Jesus) rewarded the "manager."
      My opinion , we are to manage God's money, to bring other people closer to us, so they can get to know God as we do.

    • @lynnfedina4136
      @lynnfedina4136 10 месяцев назад

    I was really hoping to hear what you thought of Luke 16:18. Why did you skip right over it? I have heard so much on different sides of this but you do such a good job researching the background. I hope you will address it in the future or maybe you did already in a previous year of Recap? If you read these comments, would you link to the previous video if you already addressed this verse in the past? Thanks!

      In a previous recap she didn't really unpack it either. I think she did say " I know this is a hard passage."
      If it's helpful my Pastor suggests that marriage is not a worldly commitment or contract as we know it. It's a vow taken in the presence of God. Go back and read about the law for vows. They aren't to be broken.
      So I think Jesus is comparing divorce to the shrewd manager. Just because the world approves, doesn't mean it's how He views our choices.

    I do think it’s weird that depending on the version Luke 17:37 reads vulture or Eagle. Those are very two different images. You’d think the original translation would know which Jesus is describing.

    Not to head down a side road, but at this point in time, Abraham was not in heaven. He was in Paradise. It’s not an important point in this story, but it will be later.

    • @DonZimmerman52
      @DonZimmerman52 10 месяцев назад +5

      When Jesus said to the thief on the cross, “Today you will be with Me in paradise,” was He not referring to heaven?

    • @robertdickson5689
      @robertdickson5689 10 месяцев назад

      No. He was referring to Sheol. Half of Sheol was referred to as Paradise. That’s where the righteous went until Jesus paid for their sins. The day after Jesus rose, He took them all to Heaven.
