Wow. As saints of the Lord, we are called to be watchful because the Day is drawing near. We are seeing things happen before our very eyes with wars and natural disasters, and sicknesses of all kinds. Let us be ready. While we wait for the Lord's Day, we need to live in righteousness, love and justice. We can do all of the outward things to look like a believer, but on the inside, we can be mean-spirited. God cares about our hearts more than our works. Let us be careful not to be like Pharisees. Let us be people who stay in the word of God because it is the only thing that speaks truth. Everything will pass away, but God's word stands forever. Yes and Amen. Humans are made in the image of the Lord. In glory, we will not be angels, but like them in that we will live forever. What a glorious day it will be when we live and never die! Those who are truly faithful to the Lord will see Him and live with Him forever!
✨✝️✨ Thank you TLC for bringing clarity to the Bible each and everyday🕊️ I am growing from faith to Faith daily~ ✨“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Luke 21:33 ✨
Matthew 23:37, ... "how often I have longed to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing." This brought tears to my eyes. As I thought of Jesus longing for His people to come to Him, I also thought of my family members who have not been willing and prayed for God, who is sovereign over hearts, to change and soften their hearts. 🙏🏽
TBR has definitely helped me grow closer with my walk with the Lord. I have a grow stronger in faith. My God shot was knowing that will be with us in the end. He wants us to no be afraid. He is where the joy is. 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Lk 21:23 and so much of the end of Lk 21 can be seen today, with God’s people being hated and under attack. God says that His people will be persecuted, but in vv27-28, He says that everyone will see the Son of Man coming in His glory, and to look up and see that our salvation from this world of pain and death has arrived. He will be with us, and is with us now, and gives us confidence of His victory.
"For you have one father who is in heaven." Mt. 23:9 The Son of the living God, Himself being God came to earth to invite us to be adopted into His family through Him (Jesus) John 14:6. Through faith in Christ we can call His Father, our Father. John 1:12
Share the gospel, time is short. “But before all this they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my name’s sake. This will be YOUR OPPORTUNITY to bear witness.” Luke 21:12-13 ESV
Wow! This is great stuff Tara Leigh! I honestly didn’t know that humans don’t become angels when we rise. I also, love what you said about monitoring how much of anything we take in… good and bad. Our eyes always have to be on the King!
God’s kingdom is upside down. It is in being a servant that we are greatest. Jesus lived this out before us. Jesus is a true servant. The religious leaders of His day had this completely turned around. The attention and recognition, and their own egos brought about holding the people to so stripped of law that it was impossible. All the while neglecting obvious needs. I am so grateful that our God is one of justice, but also mercy and compassion. This is His heart. “The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!” Matthew 23:11-12, 23-24
I've always found that quote from Psalm 110:1 very confusing! That's why I like the Amplified Bible's rendering so much better: "The LORD (Father) says to my Lord (the Messiah, His Son), 'Sit at My right hand..." I think you covered this when we were in the Old Testament, I can't remember, but in ancient times, Jews refused to pronounce the name of God (YHWH or Yahweh) for fear they would take his name in vain. So they would substitute the word Adonai (meaning Lord) for Yahweh. When the Bible was translated into English, this tradition was continued by using LORD (all capital letters) for Yahweh. When the actual word, Adonai, was used, it was translated Lord (only the first letter capitalized). But this resulted in some pretty awkward sentences, like: "The LORD says to my Lord," 😵💫😕😄!!! That's why I think it can be helpful to read different versions of the Bible. I know you use the ESV for the Bible Recap. Do you ever talk about what other versions of the Bible you like/recommend or warn against?
P.S. - I recently discovered The Legacy Standard Bible (2021). It's an update of the NASB (New American Standard Bible), and one of its features is that it departs from tradition and uses God's name, Yahweh, instead of LORD. I really like that!
Heaven and Earth will pass away but the words of the Lord will stand forever.

Hey Bible Readers! Happy Feast of Saints Sunday!
