The fact that i got you to listen to both the finale of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future AND the theme of Triangle Strategy in the same video makes me VERY happy. So happy you were finally able to post this (and LOL at us sitting in silence for the Yoshida Brothers song) 🤣
I’m surprised you didn’t bring brilliant wings from xenoblade chronicles 3 instead of kaleidoscopic core as although both are great, you always leaned more into the jazz inspiration that the other alt battle track had
to explain the ultrakill thing more. War robots in it were designed to run on blood as an energy source. They did this because in war, a lot of blood is spilled. The first world war never kinda ended and more blood running machines were made. Eventually humans did reach peace, but surprise. Blood in Ultrakill is the thing that makes thing alive, so now there is a bunch of robots that are alive as you and me. But being robots, they can't make their own blood. So, they bleed everything that does produce it's own blood, untill there is nothing to bleed. This is why the robots go to hell. Blood is fuel. Mankind is dead. Hell is full.
Roger is such a great guest for this show His enthusiasm is so infectious EDIT: I also like the format that you both bring songs to show off, rather than it being a one-sided thing. Great stuff!

I was NOT expecting a Professor Layton track, but I was so happy to see it!!! Especially picking Time Travel with the Japanese vocals, I'm personally a lot more acquainted with the Instrumental version with the violin playing the melody, but it truly is a beautiful track in any form! I would also highly recommend the games to anyone who's interest was piqued, there's a surprising amount of character and lore to sink your teeth into, especially considering these games were developed with casual DS-playing audiences in mind for the gameplay!
It's an upload titled "Kaleidoscopic Core (Vocal Mix) - Xenoblade Chronicles 3" that combines pitch-shifts the original Drifting Soul to match the song. Not sure if this was a mistake caused by the recent removal of the NintendoMelody channel or something else entirely.
I do really enjoy when Marco and someone else get to just "share" music and geek out a bit together. Some great content and just.. a great distraction from the woes of the day.
Another one for the playlists, thanks Marco - love the showing non-gamers to music videos, but theres something about trading tracks with one another here that I love as much
"Is it Stickerbrush or Stickerbush?" Having recently listened to a song by Ganon about misspelling and mispronunciation of names (including his own), I know it's the latter without ever having heard it. It's by BitFinity and called "Ganon with One N"
On the topic of a pay to skip system for Warframe, they actually brought it up as a possibility on their devstreams about a year ago, and the community shot it down hard. As much as those early hours are rough compared to the payoff provided in Neptune, spending those early hours makes the moment when The Second Dream happens so much more impactful. A big concern the community is trying to find a way to address is how to keep those early hours more streamlined as it is a lot of systems to learn at once, without taking anything away from that moment.
Yeah, to honestly wish for that is to insult any potential new players, especially for F2P games. A developer adding it would equate to them saying: "Yes, we know the new player experience sucks, we don't think it's worth changing (even though we'll always want more new players), pay us to not experience how bad it is". Also how Roger compared it to other games when he didn't really for other game tracks... There's some bias there, right?
I definitely didn't just look through the timestamps to see if there were any songs I knew and then sulk away in disappointment while leaving the video on in the background and doing my laundry that I've been putting off for a weak. No sir, not me.
As you were dicussing about the effects of loss and telling your story about losing your dad made me think of my dad. I lost my dad when I was 16 and had to handle the grief of losing him for 3 years. Whenever I see a cardinal, dove, or black butterfly around me I always greet them "Hey Dad." I still miss him, but I know our bond will never be broken even when we exist in 2 different planes of existence. 🥰
Nah, it isn't. It has good gameplay and music, but the story and writing are bland and boring, but there's a ton of cutscenes. Sometimes there's well over an hour worth of cutscenes between battles. Main problem with the story and writing being bad in a game like this is that it just takes away the satisfaction of victory. And Tactical RPG's have traditionally mostly had excellent writing and stories. I beat Triangle Strategy, but by the end it was just so incredibly dull. Just very safe and basic. Heck your main character starts off with an effin' fiancee who is with you throughout almost the entire game and there's basically 0 romance.
Roger was a great guest, I'd love to see him again! In regards to more Western music, I'd recommend Marco to check out the Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter Series' music (If he hasn't, forgive me if he has). Even the original Jak, despite people turning their nose at it. It's not amazing, but it fits the setting, though I'd agree that it's my least favorite of the Jak series for sure. I don't know which songs specifically from each game I'd recommend, but there are some great songs in there
Time Travel is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. I grew up listening to the instrumental in the US release but the Japanese vocal one is GORGEOUS.
I was watching through Tenebre Rosso Sangue and at certain points I was watching it in 2x speed (because I have heard it so much I basically memorized it) and unironically the bit at 1:27:52 goes hard at 2x speed
Marco you should definitely check out cod zombies songs such as 115, the gift and archangel by kevin sherwood. They are all really good and theres a shit ton of them
The version of Smiles from Juran that you've used here (and that most creators use online) actually starts a measure late, missing the first section on the shamisen. No one seems to notice this, and it frustrates me to no end. The loop features the same error. Having the song start on the second measure is absolute agony once you realize that's what's happening.
I'm pretty sure that at least part of "Silver for Monsters" is a battle theme in Witcher 3. Maybe the fights are usually just too short for us players to hear the entire loop, where it dynamically goes to another song to "calm down" afterwards.
The start of that professor layton track sounds a little like elton john's "your song." it instantly made me look it up to see, at the start is pretty close but not quite the same.

@keithfilibeck2390 The worlds slipping together is something that takes an eternity. By then everyone is long dead. And that doesn't change the fact that the story is very sloppily written, turns someone randomly in a villain for no reason, has tons of inconsistencies, etc. The writing and story are atrocious. I love XCX and XC1 and still enjoyed XC2, but XC3 is so terrible in many ways to the point that I don't think MSoft is capable of making another good story for XC. It's easily one of the disappointments in my 35 years of gaming (Bayonetta 3 is as well. And it hurts with 2 of these released back-to-back).
The only thing that kinda sucks is that he (ofc not his fault) thought that Witcher soundtrack would be a medieval western type song, when the Witcher (before the netflix show) was always about it's Slavic heritage, while now it's just seen as a normal fantasy story.
This version of Kaleidoscopic core is not official - it's fan made. Even though it's really good, it isn't actual part of the game. The actual track has no lyrics.
Love the video Marc. Please if you have time listen to the new unstable replicant high action from the new dungeon vespers host in destiny 2. Or revisit a few tracks and listen to the action versions. Thank you

Kaleidoscopic Core doesn't have vocals, I think the version in this video is a fan-made mix with up-pitched vocals from Drifting Soul.
And it's pretty uncanny...

Silver for Monster is used when fight with monsters, steel for humans is when fight with humans
It's very epic, sometimes a little too epic when Geralt is only fighting against a couple of ghouls or drowners
They use "Banana Tiger" when you're fighting humans.
