This really puts into perspective how much of a broken man Artorias is. His famed greatshield is nowhere to be seen, in fact, his left arm is broken, hanging limply. His legend isn’t even his, it’s technically ours. Even Sif isn’t safe from the tragedy of Artorias’s story. If we summon her for Manus before fighting her in the base game, she hesitates to pick up the sword because she REMEMBERS us, and in the end, she was just protecting Artorias’s grave, and didn’t want us to get the ability to Abysswalk because she feared we’d end up like Artorias. Artorias even had a wife, who asks for his soul after he is killed, and what makes that sad, is that you have the ability to say no. You deny his wife the ability to properly put him to rest. You have that ability.
@@TWMFanclub Well .. sad to say it but Cirian was admiring him only from a distance .. to cite wikia 'In Hawkeye Gough's cut dialogue, he exposes Ciaran indeed had romantic feelings for the knight, but they were unrequited.' it is a sad DLC my mate ;/

Heh Gael was basically a callback to Artorias with their opening cutscenes being very similar. Artorias was my favorite boss in DS1.
