The point about the kid themselves ultimately being the key factor is well taken. But doesn’t it matter that playing with better competition forces to have a higher compete level? Again - with all other things being equal ie love for the game, self motivation and drive, certain level of talent and of course genetics?
Yes, but that is age dependant. It becomes a much more significant factor when the kids are 14 and older. And spring hockey doesn't normally include all the best players anyways.
And some kids playing can't afford AAA level but are better players than the AAA players too! And some make it to AAA because there connected in the organization!
