My compliments to the “editor”… the “commentator/tour guide” seems a bit scattered in his showing of the ‘moat’… I believe Judy may have slipped Phillip a bit too much wine beforehand. Love you all for sharing your journey
Moat / ditch…. Also dirt ? This is soil in English 😂. And one other thing why do you need so many bathrooms in the chai? Or is this cloakroom facilities? Language, I love it!
Karen, I will admit, on Phillip's behalf, that trying to explain the Moat that once was is very difficult. I am working on a drawing of the layout of the original Chateau (mostly surmised as there is so little information). Once I have a drawing we will do a comparison video that shows where the old Moat was, what became of it, and what remains.Thank you for watching and commenting!... PS, Judy would never share!! LOL
Brownow134, Now I am curious... where do you reside? On the west coast of the US where we came from, especially the Pacific Northwest where I grew up, we would use dirt. Soil would be a word that farmers or fancy garden shops would use!! LOL Thank you for watching and commenting!... PS, the bathrooms below will be for large gatherings happening above where lots of beer will be served, and you know what happens when lots of beer is involved... Pee pee pee pee hee hee hee hee... :)
Wow...Judy's wine tasting is a hit. When I drink wine like that my alter ego comes out too...her name is Carol as in Channing. A couple of glasses and Carol is singing the songbook of Pink Floyd. It's amazing what good wine can do!! Loved the tour as well, so interesting to see the outbuildings. Cheers from LA!!

I know Mark is probably not too keen on this idea, but I so agree with Phillip, the burlap sacks would be such amazing pillow covers & even more amazing upholstery covers for Chateau Avensac!! Would love to see this! But, if not, please put them on your Merch site so we can purchase them for our homes as a keepsake of your one-of-a kind chateau!! Clean or dirty sacks, no problem!!Thank you Mark, Phillip & of course, the lovely, lively Judy❤️. 🇺🇸

Hi Phillip, I didn't realize how big the grounds are, the Chai, is very interesting, I love looking at all the old things from the past. You never know what treasures are waiting to be discovered. Loved seeing Judy, my kind of lady, who loves her wine. Nice to meet Rebeca, great video today. Love from N.Y.

I enjoyed that so much! It looks like you guys are making great advances In your beautiful Chateau. I love the creative nature of your videos and their clever editing. Im so sorry about your hoarding problem but I will say that your 14th century hoarding is superior to my 19th (1850) century log cabin problem . But those marvelous beams way up there are awesome . Here in the Southern USA we would cut those barrels in two and use them as planters. Their naturally rustic nature makes plants look marvelous. It’s nice to see JUDY has come back to help with tasting the vino. I noticed that she always pours enough wine to marinate a 5 pound Coq. How is mark doing ? Is he recovering? Best wishes to you all for a marvelously successful Chateau life. Greetings from Rosa, AL USA!

The barrels are fantastic. I would use them as planters. As for the burlap bags, you could make faux French fashions and sell them to Lucy Ricardo. She falls for everything. How did you NOT stop at that statue outside? I'd love some intel on that. LOVED the Frau Blucher reference. I love the out-building. So much you can do with it. Wedding venue? Maybe I'll find out in a later video, but does your chateau have a chapel?
Peter, The barrels are so old I do not think they could withstand being cut in half, I suspect they would fall to dust. Bt they do make great set dressing. You are right, we need to do a statue chat. There are three of them plus one hand, you know, just in case you need a hand. 😆😆😆 Thank you
Hi Maud, I did not know this. They are using the piece 'Borderless" as their opening piece, and we are using it as our closing piece. Ha ha haaaaaa... A roll of the dice I suppose. Cyd, all we know of the statue is that it supposedly St Peter. We put rabbit ears on him at easter. (South Park reference) Your comment made me laugh and I thank you!
Absolutely we will have subtitles. But they take 24 to 48 hours, and they will be available in multiple languages. Thank you for watching and commenting. It’s very appreciated.
Brownow134, I wish that they were fruit ladders! but, it is simply a very tall wood construction ladder. Phillip loves those fake crocs that he where's around because they are dirt cheap, and they look terrible. He forgets that all of him is visible on camera at certain moments, and he has proper boots and wellys, but he just won't wear them! LOL... As always, thank you!
L Camp, moat, fosse, ditch, trench, dike, culvert, ravine, gutter, drain, stank... so many choices! And I adore your comment, so bard like! Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@atthechateau Probably not as bad as you think if the rafters are in decent shape. Of course a railing up there would be needed and some stairs but those can be against the wall. If the rafters are solid, no reason the floor can't just be improved and what isn't being used just take up the floor and open it up to the roof. If you get an inspector in there just to evaluate the beams, good and simple start to answering the question.
Sherry, once we are done with everything and all of the furniture is unpacked, we are going to clear out the rest. We need some space to store new things!!! Lol.... Thank you!
In my opinion, their dream of an American castle in France risks turning into a French galley. Their project does not fit with the local reality, the culture, the landscape, the history and the Gascon identity... it will be very complicated for them.... many English dreamers have already paid the price....
Itsasederki3533, I am curious as to where you derived an “American castle”. We own a french chateau in one of the most beautiful areas of france. This Chateau and its predecessor have been here for over 700 years, fitting in with the local reality, culture, the landscape, the history, and the Gascon identity. We are bringing this Monument Historique back to life, and be very true to its origins. This is a French Chateau in France that happens to be owned by Americans. I am sorry that this concept is not clear, and we will make sure that the point is well understood in the future. Thank you for watching Mark

Hi!! Great vlog!! Can we get subtittles ? All the love from Brazil
Absolutely we will have subtitles. But they take 24 to 48 hours, and they will be available in multiple languages. Thank you for watching and commenting. It’s very appreciated.
@@atthechateau English will do!! I got confused about the name of the barn (?)... lol
Chai. It’s pronounced like “shay”.
@@atthechateau tea?????
@@dricajunqueira3159 Same spelling, different pronunciation. Chai is a storage for wine.
I’m American, I would call it a ditch too 😝😝😝😝
Terra... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Are those ‘A’ step ladders in first side of Chai for fruit picking?
Foot wear. Mmm I feel more appropriate shoes / boots for a chateau😂 are required!
@@atthechateau ❤ps he is adorable so we will forgive him!!

What’s in a word? That which we call a moat, by any other word would be as deep (as a ditch).
L Camp, moat, fosse, ditch, trench, dike, culvert, ravine, gutter, drain, stank... so many choices! And I adore your comment, so bard like! Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@atthechateau If you copy, always from the best! 😊 What a List! Fosse and stank aren’t even in my passive vocabulary!
What about a loft for musicians or a DJ instead of taking out the whole second floor? Leaves more room for tables/guests/cake or food tables.
Steph, you have shown out a little food for thought! Perhaps an engineering nightmare, but we will think on it!
I want to go wine tasting with Judy!!!!!
Peter, anytime !! ❤️
@@atthechateau I'm going to hold you to that. Tell her I spit backwards as well.
Don't a lot of people who own chateaus also hoard thing?
Sherry, once we are done with everything and all of the furniture is unpacked, we are going to clear out the rest. We need some space to store new things!!! Lol.... Thank you!
Restore the -ditch- moat!
Make moats great again.
ga gamba, our poor moat... it is one the list !
Thank you
