The little room you plan to store linens in should also have a jewel safe for Judy. I expect that her admirers will shower her with expensive jewels. You must prepare for every certainty.
Chris, oh no, now you did it, Judy is planning her public announcement about sending her masses of lovely jewelry. She just dragged a huge treasure chest into the little room in anticipation.... What have you done Chris???? 😆😂🤣 Thank you !!
Soooo charming ....lots of work but a labour of love ...if I was a few years younger and had a few dollars ....I would be in France too...I'm Canadian and we just don't have charming towns built in the 1400or 1600...I think a trip to France and staying in all of these chataeu restorations would be ideal
Diane, this a labor of love ! and never let age and money get in the way, we certainly don't 😂 Your idea is great, a tour through France staying at all of the RUclips Chateaux. Impossible to put together, but might be super fun !! Thank you ❤️ Mark
I love it- “Make a deal or have an affair”! Thank you for the tour. It is wonderful to see you have actually thought through the renovation instead of piece milling a little at a time. I am so glad you are dealing with the plumbing and electrical. A much safer and healthier home/accommodations for you and your guests. I have such respect for everyone who has taken on the challenge of saving these beautiful structures.
Eva, 🤣🤣 what else would you do in such a bar ? Well, maybe drink... 😂 Thank you for your kind words, we have spent countless hours considering each space of the building, and the new infrastructure is an absolute must have. Merci, merci, Mark and Phillip
Judy, I laughed out loud when you showed us the ship you sailed on. I love your evening news and your sense of humour. Mark you are such a kind and gentle man. ❤️ Thank you for the tour.🇨🇦🤗
Sarah, I am glad that made you laugh, because it made me laugh a lot when I was creating the images and editing it together. Just in case you do not know, be sure to watch after the credits for little extra laughs. In the video titled Digging deep there is a little story line after the credits about Judys cruise. 😂😂 Thank you for your kind words! and for joining the tour... ❤️ Mark and Phillip
Love watching your videos! As others said the kind way Phillip hosts the videos and the hilarious comments by Mark (or is that Judy???) are a perfect combo. Keep the videos coming please!
Debbie, Thank you for such a lovely comment ! I will pass it on to Phillip. Now as to the comments, those are definitely Mark, Judy would be nicer 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you from the perfect combo in the south of France
I can only imagine the scope of this project! It really takes vision and creativity to move forward in so many directions! But of course you have the great bones of the Château, the beautiful views and vast rooms of all sorts of treasures. Thanks for the tour, it is very nice to see how comfortable you have made your guest room and your volunteer room. Thanks for sharing, it seems the Château is revealing more and more to you!
Gloria, I know it seems daunting, but we have spent the last year and a half on infrastructure with still more to come. Once that is complete the rest will be a breeze and she will be ship shape in no time. New electric, new plumbing, new heating, a good roof, and lots of love is all we need. Thank you ❤️
hi Rochelle, little by little I am healing, it will just take a lot of time, and I thank you for asking. I am glad you enjoyed the tour and Phillip's... rambling 😆😆😆❤️ Thank you
Judy...what a hoot, God love her!! Chateau Avensac is amazing!! Your planning for the future & present is astounding, Mark & Phillip!! I look forward to seeing everything come together!! Thank you & take care!! 🇺🇸
I love hearing from you, Phillip and Mark (aka Judy). It was fun to see the rooms on the other side of the hallway. Things are always "messy" before they become beautiful when one is renovating. This is such a good record of before and after. Thank you for the video. :) PS. Those giraffe lamps are fab!
Mary B, Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed seeing all of the crazy bedrooms in flux around here. And you are right about the mess, but we have been so used to it for years with other houses. Seems we get them all fixed up and clean and we gotta sell them to start the mess over again. 😂😂❤️ PS, yes they are Fab !!! 🤗
Hi Fellas, does my head in, to see the intricate planning and setting up for the internal workings for the chateau. Just amazing, very impressive. You guys are really smart and not just pretty faces : )
Teigue's interview with Judy was a kick, His plans reminded me of the artist Wycliffe Jean's song 'Gone Till November ' One of my favorites. Anyways, nice to meet him.
Phyllis, why Thank you Ma'am ! very very kind indeed. It took a whole year to design and configure all of the spaces and work in how to bring her into the 21st century without anyone noticing. It has been fun, exciting, and mentally exhausting!! 😆 From the smart pretty faces in France we bid you a fine day ❤️🇫🇷🏰🇫🇷❤️
Virginia, This room will be my favorite in the castle because it is very isolated. In the corner, at the end of the hall, and away from everyone and everything!!! 😂
Keep any & all fireplaces! Working or not, they create ambiance! Ideally the billiard room will not interfere with noise, if the windows are left open in the other rooms. The massive headboard, could be duplicated used throughout, for other rooms, in a more traditional style. Great architecturally drawn floor plans!
Parisdoesrock, I don't know what Phillip was talking about when he spoke of removing the fireplace 😂😂. We had talked about covering it with a wrap around headboard, and maybe he spoke of removal, but I am not sure. Regardless, it will stay. I like your idea about reproducing the ancient woodwork ! It would also be possible to find other similar sections. When paneling is removed from ancient rooms quite often it does not survive the removal whole. Now I will be on the lookout! Thank you for the compliment about my floorpans, I have continuously worked very hard on them, You can see full sets on my blog at www.atthechateau.com/plans-du-chateau My best Mark
@@atthechateau The floor plans are extremely nice. Two tiny little suggestions, you may or may not have considered. 1). The Billiard room, that little space next to it, create the door/entry as a book shelf-hidden door. 2) be careful to avoid "dorm style" bedrooms, which are all the same, maybe add in an extra lounge, which can be converted with a simple hidden pocket door! Keep up the amazing work!
Well for we Europeans having huge bedrooms seems so useless given that they are for sleeping ! Also the 20 pillows on each bed gets us each time !! I remember visiting a home for sale in the US (upstate NY) and asked why one room had no windows and was told that it wasn't a 'room' but a closet ! The bedrooms were huge, the living room double height and the kitchen was also very large. My first thoughts on seeing American homes is how much tax do you pay and how do you heat them! To get around smaller bedrooms in places I lived I bought antique beds which are narrower and take up less space but they are not a favorite of tall friends so I have one guest room with a 'normal' bed ! I suppose that your choice of 'queen and king' beds do necessitate large rooms ! Any which way always a joy to watch your videos , @@atthechateau
I'm confused, as well. Their videos are so charming and interesting. I've been watching Chateau Channels for a few years, but TODAY was the first time I've seen one of the AtTheChateau videos. I've spent today watching all of them, from the beginning. What an entertaining day I've had! They've gained a new Subscriber with me!
Rose, first Thank you ! and second, I simply do not know why. Someone had suggested it was Judy and people were offended, so I dumped her for two videos. Well, those two videos tanked ! Maybe it is because we do not have adorable monsters, uh, um, I mean children screaming, uh, um, I mean being charming. Or perhaps it is because I am not the toile wallpaper, one crooked candle, and some babies breath kinda guy... It is a mystery to me. 😂😂😂😂 We are slowly gaining subscribers for which we are grateful, but in truth, I work very very hard on crafting our videos and I do wish more people would watch, enjoy, and laugh with us. Thank you for your praise ❤️ Mark and Phillip
Jaime, I just asked Judy about this and she flat out said she does not know what you are talking about... she yelled "It's all mine !" 🤣🤣🤣 ❤️ Thank you
Cyd in the USA. Wow! That was a really great video. It had everything from what was to what's coming next. The views from every window are beautiful. Bits and pieces make me get up close to the monitor to see them better :-) Love the giraffe lamps. As always Judy was Judylicious. Keep the videos coming.
Cyd 👋🏼, Phillip has been waiting, and you won the prize! First to comment on the Giraffe lamps, they are fabulous! I am glad you liked this video so much. And it goes without saying, Judy sends her love ❤️ Mark
I love watching the different chateau renovation shows. I saw your first videos a while ago. Came across you this morning in an hour of indulgent tv watching......and WHAT A HOOT you guys are (or should I say -Judy). You have made my day. Now on to school lesson preparation with a 'vigeur'. Biz, Hannah😘😘😘😘😘
Hanna, oh dear, now Judy is gloating in the corner over there, simply glowing from your praise. We keep trying to get rid of her and she just keeps coming back. If you watch more, be sure to watch after the credits for more, um, whacky, yes whacky is a good word for it, brief content. Thank you for your wonderful comment ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Mark and Phillip
I just found you today and subscribed! 🥳👏🏻😁 I love how fun your videos are (and the captions 😂)!!! I wonder if the connected “mystery” rooms were the nursery and nanny rooms? 🤔 Anyway…stop distracting me and let me get back to binge watching you!!! 😁😆😂🥰
Burial, Thank you and welcome to our crazy family ! Your thought about the small rooms is an interesting one, and not impossible! We do suspect that the two small rooms were once one room, but we may never know. Also Thank you for your kind words and compliments. Now, quit being distracted by my email and get back to binge watching our channel!!!!! 😆😆😂😆❤️
I have no idea how I've "missed" your channel, when I've been watching quite a few Chateau Channels for years. What a wonderful gift I was given, coming across this video today! I chuckled, I laughed, I ooooh'd, I aaaahhhh'd and became INTRIGUED! I've spent today binge-watching ALL of your videos (on my tv). While I didn't touch my, "ToDo List" I was very entertained and I thank you for that. You just gained a new Subscriber. 😊 I look forward to your future videos and seeing the progress made. (I don't comment often because I watch on my tv, but I do "watch" all of the ads. Don't worry, I play the video (on silent) on my phone when I leave a comment to make sure it "counts".😂) Anywhoo, I'm so glad your Channel popped up on my "Recommended" today. Thank you for a very enjoyable day!
Enough Already, I am so glad you found us, welcome to our crazy family! Our goal for our videos is to entertain. Yes we take this all very seriously, but life is too short not to laugh out loud about it all ! And now I must apologize, your to do list.... I am so sorry you did not accomplish a single thing because of those whacky boys in France! 😆😂🤣 I totally get not commenting, because we watch on Apple TV and if there is something that I want to say I have to go on my phone as well. And as much as I appreciate your support by watching the commercials and letting the video play through, I think you better check at least one thing off on that list... 🤣 Thank you so much ! Mark and Phillip, Château Avensac ❤️🇫🇷🏰🇫🇷❤️
@@atthechateau That dreaded ToDo List just won't end! 😑 Every time I tic something off, another thing pops up on it! I'm sure it's a conspiracy against me. Not to worry, I am on it! Well, until another one of your videos pops up, that is. 😉 I certainly hope the RUclips Algorithm starts to work in your favor. You're a great Channel and I cant wait to see your Channel grow! ♥️
Gosh what an undertaking! I can see why you fell for this Château but some rooms look derelict and yes, I realize it always looks worse before it gets better. Thank you for showing the wing with some inviting bedrooms. Judy's back from her cruise and looking well. Oh, and Babe, listen to Mark, if nothing else the fireplace in you apartment will look Châteauesque and add an appropriate, quaint architectural feature. 😘
Mary Jane, In truth the rooms look better in person, it is hard to get the perspective and feeling on camera. But still lots of work to do. After infrastructure is complete and the floors get relaid or repaired it is all down hill from there. The condition of most of the spaces is good and will allow for rapid refinishing. That darn Judy, we tried to send her to the bottom of the sea and she found her way back, again ! 😆😆😆 I will tell Babe that you agree with me on the fireplace, and it will stay ❤️ Thank you Mark
Virginia, thank you for noticing how beautiful the room is even in its current state, When finished, this room will be part of the Bridal suite. Thank your watching, Mark
I think I'll leave to watch the first bedroom tour!! Lol get myself reoriented! What a maze of a room! Great view from both sides! And you can holler, I mean greet guests from the courtyard windows! Phillip! Happy to hear the fireplace will stay for now... I mean you know it's a luxury to have a fireplace in your bedroom...also not everything has to be practical 😁 10:40
Luisa, a good idea, the first video has 4 out of 5 rooms with a view. They are the nicest in the Château. And, Phillip and that fireplace, I do not even know where that came from. We had spoke briefly about building a headboard around it to cover it in the room, but never taking it out. C'est la vie... 😆😆 Thank you
@@atthechateau lol Phillip is getting brave in front of that camera 🤣. That's a good idea to cover, because once it's gone...it's gone. So I think that thought is very brief now 😁. I've still the other half of the vlog to watch!!
Love the chateau, you can already see its potential but there is a lot of work to repair and bring in all the services for the twenty first century, its going to be great to see what you do with each room as it gets to the decor stage. Jason from the uk
Jason, we are all about infrastructure, infrastructure, infrastructure ! The pretty stuff is the easy part. Our poor company that is doing the electric, plumbing, and heating... they did not know what to think of me. I am sure they think I am a total bitch because I do not want to see one, zero, des nada, pipes or wires snaking along walls or corners. Everything buried in the walls and no boxing in. I am terrible !! 😂😂 It's good for them! 🤣 Thank you
@@atthechateau I understand fully, I love the look of a property but at the end of the day you have to have all the electrics, plumbing central heating. Everything has to be 21st-century hidden so for you, it must be very hard and time-consuming for such a large property. My friend lives in France and works for Patrick and Stuart from journey to the Château, and he also work for Tony and Jane from not quite a château, so he has to find ingenious ways of rewiring the properties without making too much mess or destruction. Look forward to more Vlogs send my love to Judy. Jason.
Could you reconsider the billiard room being upstairs. Reasons: *Cost *Noise near the bedrooms *Size of room. *Better space near the old entrance, where a pseudo library and a bar could be incorporated. And players could step outside into the gorgeous French evenings. *Extra ensuite bedroom for paying guests in the designated bar and designated billiard rooms. Love to yourselves and Judy. P.S. Judy is so entrancing, she has no fear of being outshone. We her fans adore her 💕
@@atthechateau Thankyou for being so gracious, it was just a thought. Your style will be so much more exciting, I don't know where I got the nerve. You made me brave😊💕
Penni Jane, Thank you ! That pair of Giraffes are beautiful. There are Rabbits beside our bed and hopefully they will make another appearance as well. ❤️
Donald, we are glad you enjoyed it. So much to make "Pretty" but right now it is infrastructure infrastructure infrastructure ! a strong backbone and who cares about the rest ! 😆
Claudia, we have worked hard to place bathrooms in every bedroom without having to cut up rooms, or add raised floors or boxed in pipes. It all is working beautifully! Thank you! Now I gotta go upstairs somehow and go shopping ! 😆😆😆❤️
Thank you so much for the information! It was very helpful, wish you all the best the renovations and new life in France. I would love to own and live in a Chateau 🤞
Shirley, It really is not as bad as it looks. Once the infrastructure is complete and the floors are finished, the fun part starts and that is all easy, time consuming yes, but easy. Thank you ❤️
It would appear from the cery quick view that the green and gold plaid chairs in the last room shown (I think the dressing room off of the storage bedroom) would go nicwuth the curtains in your volunteer room. Lovely.
Svg733, it is funny that you say this about those plaid chairs. I tried to get some of them put into the volunteer room, but for some reason the boys did not think there was room for them. Since I cannot go up there yet, I have to let it go. 😂😂😂 Thank you Mark
I loved that 'Headboard ' in the guest bedroom- seriously - absolutely fabulous idea! The new restaurant is very exciting and wow, the food looked fantastic. Avensac is becoming more and more exciting by the months. Can't wait for Halloween❤
Bonnie Jean 👋🏼, I am so disappointed in you... I fully expected a comment about that filthy looking guest bedroom door ! The blue door upstairs that looks like it has grime and handprints all over it. 😆😆😆😆 It is always great to see your name in the comments... ❤️❤️❤️
Really? Must I always find fault in something ? Okay, well, I've certainly commented on gross doors before, just on your channel.😎 So, here goes- EWWWWAAA, what a gross door! @@atthechateau
Sharon, I am really happy that you stay on to watch the mystery of what I am going to put in the out-takes, I have fun with them, and sometimes they are easter eggs as "they" say in the business... 😆 Thank you 🤗
Amanda and Lincoln (the supermodels) I am thrilled that you have watched one of our videos. I have heard much about you both and seen many of your videos, of course we are subscribed as well. 😆 #Americans in France Our best from the south, Mark and Phillip
I lived in an old home with 4 unusable fireplaces. I would use tromp l’œil to create one or more of the fireplaces to look like their available❤! Or you could put a wallpaper to look like it’s a wooden cover they use to use to keep the heat from the ladies’ faces. Can’t remember the name of the wooden frame. It would look very nice 👍
Oh wow, the views ❤ I love peeing with a view 😅, loving the lanterns. I loved.. Passed sentence the cabinets you pulled out. You need pinching for removing them, but I better not, you might like it 😂 when I saw on the main stairs the sofa only thing I could think was pivot 😂 loved Judy hat ❤ lovely cute volunteer, send him around 😂 Bradley gives me evils now... So love all the extra buildings you got, I will have to call you the pipers of avensac 😅 much love guys x
Yves, Pee with a view 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Now, the cabinet, fear not! It was carefully disassembled and is being reassembled in the grand cuisine. It will have a much grander presence there than it did tucked away in that smallish room. Although, I would consider trading it for a full size grand piano that is at a chateau near us !! Poor Bradley, I hope he is not really giving you the evils !! 😂😂 Much ❤️ from the pipers of Avensac
I suggest perhaps a drinking game involving the word "pipes" :-) Love love love the apartment and all the plans for the game room, bar et al. C'est magnifique!
Phillip, thanks for another wonderful video. With every tour of the chateau, it's more evident just how enchanting Avensac is. We were just in NE France last week, but were about 6 hours north of you guys. Next trip across the pond we'd love to venture south to visit! BTW - I don't consider any of your monologue to be babbling, so just keep doing what you're doing. Oh, and great use of Bits and Bob's in the middle of the vlog! Thanks!
Michael, please do let us know if you head this way in the future. We would love to show you around and share a bottle of wine. I will let Phillip know that you appreciate his ramblings 😂😂😂 and bits and bobs.... I don't even know where he picked the one up 🤔 Thank you, Mark
Having lived in the Bat area I assume you are familiar with the Winchester Mystery house with doors that go nowhere and lovely stained glassed windows that don't face outside.
Gene, very familiar with the Winchester house, and sometimes this place can feel that way, but fortunately it is very symmetrical, so always making a right turn should get you back to the beginning ! LOL Thank you, 🙏 ❤️
Such a gorgeous property. Have you decided what you would like to eventually do with the stables/old chapel ? Such a sweet courtyard there below. Bon courage with your trenching !
Marianne, Thank you for the compliment, and as to the what we call the ancient wing, the ideas go around and around and around. The possibilities are endless!
Mr Avensac are you into acting for real? Judy was good acting, first time i see your channel very well done saying hello from washington dc thank you for your content it was great take care and good job
Hi Gents, Thank you for the tour of more of the bedrooms. It will be fun to see the renovations and finished rooms. It was good to see the rooms are in pretty good condition structurally. You guys are fortunate with that. Now, how did I miss Michael?? 🤔 Cheers-
Glen, We are fortunate, 95 percent of our rooms are going to be quick finish once the infrastructure is complete, it just may not look like it ! Too much crap sitting around and too much dirt ! 😂😆🤣 Michael was only here for 4 weeks and he did not really want to be on camera! ❤️❤️❤️
@@atthechateau Hi. I was thinking the rooms looked to be in good condition. It appears you guys will only have to do cosmetic updates. as for there being a lot of stuff around, my house in France is the same right now. I'm in the US preparing my parent's house that I inherited for sale and it, too, looks like a war zone as I sort through everything to prepare for an estate sale. One of these days we will toast the completion of all this with an armagnac & soda or whatever the drink of choice may be. I'm glad I caught a glimpse of Michael. 🙂 I look forward to meeting when I return. Cheers-
Timbob, there are quite a few antiques tucked here and there, as well as many things we have forgotten about stored in our wine Chai. It will be fun to unpack it all and have fun with it. Thank you for the comment
Hey Justin, I saw your other comment so I am now all caught up to date. It is strange that the wall paper is the same. The paper at LaLande appears new, and the drapery fabric matches it... the paper here is at least 160 years old... very mysterious ! 🤣 Thank you
I don't think its new at LaLande, well maybe newer, its probably from the 50s or something is my guess. Its not my favorite. It gives me Napoleon III vibes@@atthechateau
@@justinwilliams7290 The boy knows his time periods, I love it!! I have tried to find a definite book or web site that describes the French time periods in detail. They are so confusing with so many Louis and Napoleons !! 🤣 Merci Justin

@@justinwilliams7290 Justin, Thank you for the descriptions ! I am afraid you are going to have to come to the Chateau and go shopping with me !! 😆 My best and thanks, Mark
Hi Susanne, that is a Great Wall paper in that room and most likely dates to the mid 19th century. It does look great on camera, but not so much so in real life. However, if we use wallpaper (I am personally not a fan) but if we do, we are thinking of reproducing this particular pattern. There is a company in France that will do this very thing. They carve the large wood blocks, based on your design, and hand stamp the paper. Their work is breathtaking !!! For wallpaper that is 😂😂😂😂 Thank you
I actually don't like it either. Its very busy 19th century and bizarro colors that I'm not a fan of lol. I made the same comment though because I too recognized the pattern.@@atthechateau
Where those rooms once en filade and then the hallway made later? I was wondering because of the odd room with no hallway door. Mark could you help us out with a floor plan that shows how those rooms are situated now? Or direct us to a video where you have already shown us?
Hi Gem, The central hall upstairs was always there. You can look at the floor plans by following this link, www.atthechateau.com/plans-du-chateau The second plan down the page is the second floor. The rooms in question are in the center of the Chateau and the two to the left. At this point they are not changing and so the plan shows them as they are now. You will notice the room with no door on the hall and the room to the left of it share a very thin wall, we surmise that the room was divided. Why? we do not know. Will we rejoin them? it is not impossible. For entertainment, you can click on blog at the top of the page and begin to read my writing which I have been told is quite good. 😂 Mark
Brett, first I will ask that you visit our floor plans on our website, www.atthechateau.com/plans-du-chateau Second plan down is the upper floor. The room dead center in the front is the room that the billiard table will be residing. The reasons that we are not worried about it interrupting or disturbing anyone are... 1. There is only one bedroom near it, directly across the hall, and the gate room is separated from the bedroom by a 28 inch thick stone wall. They're the door that leads to the bedroom, but it is a double door with an entry space room before the bedroom. There are not bedrooms on either side of the Billiard room. 2. Our business will not be a B and B, it will be highly organized events of like minded people, or special events like weddings. So in general, those staying in the Château will know each other, or all be on a similar schedule. 3. It is a French Billiard table, and most people (myself included) do not know how to play the game 😆😂🤣 Thank you for a great question !!
Seaview, Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed this video. We keep thinking we are going to run out of rooms to show everyone, and yet there are still more to come. 😆
Will the chateau be handicap assessable? The small room must have been for servants. The 2 large lantern lights would look good in the hall and the old billiards room, to continue the enfilade.
Dennis, the Chateau will definitely be "Accessible to everyone" !! It will be a battle with the Batiment de France (we are a listed castle) but they cannot say no, especially since I am currently in a wheel chair ! 🤣 There are indeed a matched pair of lanterns for the entrance hall, but they will hang the other direction. Directly inside the front doors and over the grand staircase, which is to the right of the doors. The former Billiard room is getting something very special ! All will be revealed ! 🤣🤣🎃😈💀👻🦇🦉 Thank you
D MMaid, it is a good thought and could be very correct. The two small rooms we suspect were once one room, and if the rooms over the stables were for the groomsmen, then that leaves these two rooms for servants. We hope someday to know. Thank you for the comment and things to 🤔 think about ! ❤️
Sorry, I know this is an older video, but I'm new and am playing catch up! Is it possible that the three interconnected rooms are a main bedroom (the one over the entrance), a dressing room, and a room for like a valet to that main inhabitant? Or, could it be some kind of (again) main room, children's room, nanny's room? Just spitballing! Anyway, lovely channel, lovely home!
Niko, first... welcome! and we are grateful that you have joined us. What we do know about the three rooms is that two of them were one room with a doorway into the room above the entrance. As to their original use... so terribly hard to know. Perhaps the large room was a children's room, that would make sense. We have great hopes of someday finding original plans that will give us insight into the building as planned. We have not really made final decisions on how we will use them, and they may morph into another purpose as the need arrises. Thank you for your kind words and for joining us. Mark
I'm a sub and I've been watching every video you've posted... But, I'm sorry, I can't recall if y'all (I'm in Texas) are using this beautiful structure as a hotel or B&B or a private residence.
Hi Millie, Thank you for the question. I actually respond to this in depth in our video entitled "Lets get Technical" at time marker 17:20. I ask that you have a look as I would have to write a novel here to get all of the information in. 😆😆😆 Merci beaucoup Mark
Ramona, In truth, I have no idea. I was horrified when I first came to France. Now I am very used to it and I can see the art in it. I would have to guess that it is all about control. Only certain types of tree can be pollarded. Linden is a good one as well as Plane trees. You can cut both back to nothing and they will grow 5 to 6 feet or more in a season, it is kind of wild. Thank you for the great question ❤️
That room just before the attic-you coul also put a small desk with internet capability. When someone needs to do something quickly, there would be an area to connect and have a quiet space to do their work.
Joanne, That is a good idea! It will be a linen storage room, but everything will be in large wardrobes so there would be space for a small desk. We shall keep this in mind !! Thank you
You do not need a sitting room for your bedroom, but Judy does need a dressing room before her appearances, as well as a good hairdresser and makeup artist!!! Wardrobe mistress as well!!! Add the trumeau or a mirror...even a Venetian mirror of substantial size adds an amazing level of allure to a room!!! How many mealy mouthed little brats do you have under the stairs now??? You've been there long enough to have enough of them to have finished all the labor in the restoration.....I know it's hard but you can kidnap some of those little monsters every time you go into a city...
Find it odd - you buy this huge amazing filled with history chateau with endless opportunities for spreading out - still you renovate and plan "to live" in two little rooms above the kitchen....even small quarters if this will be your master bedroom suite - what`s the deal and more importantly what`s the plans with the rest of the place....maybe touch on this in a future vlog iif you desire.
Thomas, I don't think the space of our master bedroom is small, it is 750 square feet. The design concept is to have our bedroom and a small private sitting room, and still have quick access to the kitchens below. The public rooms of the Chateau are our playground, but when hosting events we will have private quarters to withdraw to. In our video "Lets get Technical" at time maker 17:20, I personally speak to the audience about our plans for the Chateau as a business. Thank you for watching and commenting !
Hi Sue, My endings have changed over time and now feature a drone shot pulling back from the rear of the castle, the bits of information, and any bloopers that I decide to throw in there. The closing reel makes me happy, and in truth that is why I spend so much time creating these videos... They make me happy. 🙂 ❤️🇫🇷🏰🇫🇷❤️ Thank you Mark
Hi Jackie, because of the issue with my legs I am not able to do the work right now. This situation is disheartening and I am trying my best to be able to walk again so I can get back to work on the Château. We have had to hire people to do the physical work on the house and most of them are exceedingly uncomfortable with being filmed. Even in the video that Phillip filmed where he interviewed the owner of the Electric, Plumbing, and Heating company, you can see the reflection of his employees, in the glass of the front doors, standing outside the Château because they refused to be on camera. It is a delicate balancing act and we have to respect their wishes. I do hope we manage to entertain you regardless. Thank you for watching and commenting
@@mocarra100 Hi Jackie, nothing to apologize for at all and I am glad you asked the question. It has been a long road to recovery. Thank you for the well wishes, and I promise to see if anyone will let us film them. A few actually have in a couple of our past videos, but the French are very "Private" and do not want to be on camera. In our Village, Ring doorbell buttons that have cameras are illegal. We even got in trouble over filming the Chateau and the village with a drone. It is a bit over the top here. 😂😂😂 ❤
I'd get rid of the fireplace in your bedroom. It's non functioning and not very interesting. More flexibility in furniture placement will result. Puzzled by the billiard room and bar room down the hall from the master bedroom and on the 2nd floor no less. Do you want your guests to be playing and partying there??? There must be a better use for those 2 rooms!
Hi Bente, We are thinking that if we decide we do not like the fireplace in the room that we will use the antique paneling that is in the guest bedroom and create a bo shape with it that will cover the fireplace. That way it will be there in the far future when someone else decides to remodel again. 😆 The Billiard table will not be a problem because it is in the center of the house and does not have any rooms to either side of it that are bedrooms. The house has 28 inch (60cm) thick stone walls, and sound does not travel. Also, it is a French Billiard table without pockets, and a completely different game. Very few people, including us, know how to play it. It will be more of a showpiece as it is very very old and very pretty. And it anyone were to ask about children playing around with it and making a lot of noise, that one is simple, we are going to encourage anyone with children to stay elsewhere !! 😂🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the great questions Mark
Congratulations to Judy unlocking the achievements of food reviewer and news reader.
ga gamba, that Judy... always has her nose into everything !

So happy to see Judy made it home safely love you both ❤
Judy, well, we tried to sink our Judy to no avail. We will have better luck next time!! 😂😂😂 Thank you
The little room you plan to store linens in should also have a jewel safe for Judy.
😆😂🤣
Thank you !!
Soooo charming ....lots of work but a labour of love ...if I was a few years younger and had a few dollars ....I would be in France too...I'm Canadian and we just don't have charming towns built in the 1400or 1600...I think a trip to France and staying in all of these chataeu restorations would be ideal
Diane, this a labor of love ! and never let age and money get in the way, we certainly don't 😂
Your idea is great, a tour through France staying at all of the RUclips Chateaux. Impossible to put together, but might be super fun !!
Thank you

I love it- “Make a deal or have an affair”! Thank you for the tour. It is wonderful to see you have actually thought through the renovation instead of piece milling a little at a time. I am so glad you are dealing with the plumbing and electrical. A much safer and healthier home/accommodations for you and your guests. I have such respect for everyone who has taken on the challenge of saving these beautiful structures.
I thought he said "have an affair" lol
Eva, 🤣🤣 what else would you do in such a bar ? Well, maybe drink... 😂 Thank you for your kind words, we have spent countless hours considering each space of the building, and the new infrastructure is an absolute must have.
Merci, merci,

Judy, I laughed out loud when you showed us the ship you sailed on. I love your evening news and your sense of humour. Mark you are such a kind and gentle man. ❤️ Thank you for the tour.🇨🇦🤗
Sarah, I am glad that made you laugh, because it made me laugh a lot when I was creating the images and editing it together. Just in case you do not know, be sure to watch after the credits for little extra laughs. In the video titled Digging deep there is a little story line after the credits about Judys cruise. 😂😂 Thank you for your kind words! and for joining the tour...

Thank you ❤️
Loved the tour. I hope Mark's recovery is going well. Phillip, there is nothing wrong with rambling or digressing from the topic....you do you.
hi Rochelle, little by little I am healing, it will just take a lot of time, and I thank you for asking. I am glad you enjoyed the tour and Phillip's... rambling 😆😆😆❤️

Alan, thank you for the wonderful compliment! and... Judy sends her ❤️
I love hearing from you, Phillip and Mark (aka Judy).
PS, yes they are Fab !!! 🤗
Hi Fellas, does my head in, to see the intricate planning and setting up for the internal workings for the chateau. Just amazing, very impressive. You guys are really smart and not just pretty faces : )
Teigue's interview with Judy was a kick,
His plans reminded me of the artist
Wycliffe Jean's song 'Gone Till November '
One of my favorites. Anyways, nice to meet him.
Phyllis, why Thank you Ma'am ! very very kind indeed. It took a whole year to design and configure all of the spaces and work in how to bring her into the 21st century without anyone noticing. It has been fun, exciting, and mentally exhausting!! 😆
From the smart pretty faces in France we bid you a fine day ❤️🇫🇷🏰🇫🇷❤️
Phyllis, I will pass this on to Teigue, I think he will enjoy it ! Thank you
For sure ! He will definitely enjoy Wycliffe and the Fugees !
That last bedroom overlooking the terrace is going to be an exquisite bedroom Ensuite!!
Thank you for the compliment about my floorpans, I have continuously worked very hard on them, You can see full sets on my blog at www.atthechateau.com/plans-du-chateau
My best
Mark
@@atthechateau The floor plans are extremely nice. Two tiny little suggestions, you may or may not have considered. 1). The Billiard room, that little space next to it, create the door/entry as a book shelf-hidden door. 2) be careful to avoid "dorm style" bedrooms, which are all the same, maybe add in an extra lounge, which can be converted with a simple hidden pocket door! Keep up the amazing work!
I love it when I listen to Americans talk about the size of rooms !!
Stephanie, Because they seem so small in Europe? 🤣🤣🤣
Nice tour! Thank you! I love your content and I wandered why you guys dont have more subscribers. People are missing a lot!!! ❤
We are slowly gaining subscribers for which we are grateful, but in truth, I work very very hard on crafting our videos and I do wish more people would watch, enjoy, and laugh with us.
Thank you for your praise ❤️

enough already, I am about to reply to your other comment, but I want to thank you for your support !!! ❤️
That panelling will make a great headboard 😁
Kathleen, it is stunning behind a bed and I am glad you like it ! Thank you
Judy’s lace front is epic! Love her!
Jaime, I just asked Judy about this and she flat out said she does not know what you are talking about... she yelled "It's all mine !" 🤣🤣🤣

I just found you today and subscribed! 🥳👏🏻😁
I love how fun your videos are (and the captions 😂)!!!
I wonder if the connected “mystery” rooms were the nursery and nanny rooms? 🤔
Anyway…stop distracting me and let me get back to binge watching you!!!

Burial, Thank you and welcome to our crazy family !
Your thought about the small rooms is an interesting one, and not impossible! We do suspect that the two small rooms were once one room, but we may never know. Also Thank you for your kind words and compliments.

I totally get not commenting, because we watch on Apple TV and if there is something that I want to say I have to go on my phone as well. And as much as I appreciate your support by watching the commercials and letting the video play through, I think you better check at least one thing off on that list... 🤣
Thank you so much !

@@atthechateau That dreaded ToDo List just won't end! 😑 Every time I tic something off, another thing pops up on it! I'm sure it's a conspiracy against me. Not to worry, I am on it! Well, until another one of your videos pops up, that is. 😉
I certainly hope the RUclips Algorithm starts to work in your favor.
I will tell Babe that you agree with me on the fireplace, and it will stay ❤️
Thank you
Mark
Beautiful bedroom with the panels in back of the bed really makes a smart feature wall. And sunny windows!
Virginia, thank you for noticing how beautiful the room is even in its current state, When finished, this room will be part of the Bridal suite.
Thank your watching,
Mark
Great to catch up with Judy. Thoroughly enjoyed the bedroom tour, lots to do but a great property.
Jayne, there is lots to do, but once we are through infrastructure, it is all downhill from there. Thank you and Judy sends her love ❤️
@@Mime_Mama Luisa, always remember to watch after the credits... 😆😆😆
Jason.
So great to see another video of the bedrooms, you and Judy!!! Good to see a lot going on…keep up the good work

First time viewer. Love seeing rooms and watching and the hilarious Judy.
Deirdre, Thank you so much and welcome to our crazy family. And of course Judy sends her love ❤️❤️😂
Could you reconsider the billiard room being upstairs.
Reasons:
*Cost
*Noise near the bedrooms
*Size of room.
*Better space near the old entrance, where a pseudo library and a bar could be incorporated. And players could step outside into the gorgeous French evenings.
*Extra ensuite bedroom for paying guests in the designated bar and designated billiard rooms.
Love to yourselves and Judy.

One of these days we will toast the completion of all this with an armagnac & soda or whatever the drink of choice may be. I'm glad I caught a glimpse of Michael. 🙂 I look forward to meeting when I return. Cheers-
Love your project! I see you have several lovely antiques tucked away which will be wonderful when they are placed.
Timbob, there are quite a few antiques tucked here and there, as well as many things we have forgotten about stored in our wine Chai. It will be fun to unpack it all and have fun with it. Thank you for the comment
The wallpaper in that bedroom housing the portraits of the Counts, looks very similar (if not the same) as the Chambre Perse of Chateau de LaLande
@@atthechateau Louis XIV: mazarin desks, sturdy tall back armchairs lots of ebonized furniture or gilt, oak, maple,
Louis XV: curvy rococo armchairs, tables, commodes, quite ornate lots of fruitwoods, kingwood, rosewood
Louis XVI: more refined simple and classical inspiration with garlands, swags. painted furniture, influx of mahogany
Directoire/Empire: quite obvious and severe empire styles with ancient motifs, lots of mahogany
Louis Philippe: very plain looking, simple but elegant pieces, various woods..mahogany is still popular, but so are more simple woods
Napoleon III: sort of Louis XV on crack. Curvy but also some more empire esque styles, lots of boulle (tortoiseshell and brass? inlay) which is actually common in Louis XIV/Regence too. Lots of over the top ormolu, more mahogany, lots of ebonized, nice sofas and armchairs, fringe.
@@justinwilliams7290 Justin, Thank you for the descriptions ! I am afraid you are going to have to come to the Chateau and go shopping with me !! 😆 My best and thanks, Mark
the wall paper looks like what Stephanie has in one of her bedrooms. Or very close to it.
For wallpaper that is 😂😂😂😂
Thank you
I actually don't like it either.
You can look at the floor plans by following this link, www.atthechateau.com/plans-du-chateau
The second plan down the page is the second floor.
Mark
Tell me the reasoning behind locating a pool table in the midst of a number of bedrooms. It seems odd to me.
Why not!!!😊
So the guest can assemble and mingle
Brett, first I will ask that you visit our floor plans on our website, www.atthechateau.com/plans-du-chateau
Second plan down is the upper floor.
3. It is a French Billiard table, and most people (myself included) do not know how to play the game 😆😂🤣
Thank you for a great question !!
Chambre perse wallpaper in ur linen room, like cdll
Lucian, C'est un superbe papier peint, et je pense que nous allons essayer de le recréer. Merci Beaucoup !!
Always interesting to see what’s happening with chateau. Looks like work is progressing . So exciting to think of the finished rooms in the future .
Seaview, Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed this video. We keep thinking we are going to run out of rooms to show everyone, and yet there are still more to come. 😆
You have a beautiful home.
Rachel, Thank you so much ! and thank you for watching !! ❤️🇫🇷🏰🇫🇷❤️
There are indeed a matched pair of lanterns for the entrance hall, but they will hang the other direction. Directly inside the front doors and over the grand staircase, which is to the right of the doors. The former Billiard room is getting something very special ! All will be revealed ! 🤣🤣🎃😈💀👻🦇🦉
Thank you
Could that small room have been for a nursery or a maid/nanny..just a thought

Merci beaucoup

Can you please explain why pollarding of the trees are so popular? They are really quite "not pretty" during the winter season when they are leafless.
Thank you for the great question
❤️
You've been there long enough to have enough of them to have finished all the labor in the restoration.....I know it's hard but you can kidnap some of those little monsters every time you go into a city...
the unused door you could reopen put a sign on unwanted visitors welcome 😘 quick elevator
Kath, I like you!!! 😂 I just may do it ! I will also include a "Please turn off lights before leaving" sign 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ❤️
Merci, Mark

Find it odd - you buy this huge amazing filled with history chateau with endless opportunities for spreading out -
still you renovate and plan "to live" in two little rooms above the kitchen....even small quarters if this will be your master bedroom suite -
what`s the deal and more importantly what`s the plans with the rest of the place....maybe touch on this in a future vlog iif you desire.
💕You need to make the end of your videos a lot shorter by putting all information in VGC the description of each video you post💕
Hi Sue, My endings have changed over time and now feature a drone shot pulling back from the rear of the castle, the bits of information, and any bloopers that I decide to throw in there. The closing reel makes me happy, and in truth that is why I spend so much time creating these videos... They make me happy.
🙂

I wish you would actually film some work being done.
@@atthechateau oh okay, I'm sorry I didn't know. Hope you get better soon 🙏 Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
The Billiard table will not be a problem because it is in the center of the house and does not have any rooms to either side of it that are bedrooms. 😂🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the great questions
Mark
A dumb waiter would be nice if you or your partner need to bring food up ( if someone is sick) instead of carrying up all the stairs .
Marilyn, 🤔🤔🤔, a great thought, I am going to do some floorpan searching.
Thank you for the suggestion!
