Man I almost cried watching this. My dad worked 12 hour days so he was hardly ever home, but he always made time for him and I to play a few minutes of Rambo before I went to bed. I wish I could show him the levels we never got to.
Shoutout to your pops and anyone else who played as Zane 😂 The two player infinite lives trick on the first few stages was the only way 8 year old me was able to make any sort of progress lmao
Damn this person passed the whole game in 20 min , It took me my whole childhood to even try to make it out the city. 30 years later I finally see the ending 😂😂😂
@Mr Lex I played this game on Sega Master System as a child, along with Psycho Fox (my #1 favorite Sega game), Zillion II: The Tri Formation, Hang-On, & Double Dragon. Good times...
This reminds me of my childhood. So many weekends I would hear my brothers and their friends playing this game as well as Sonic the Hedgehog . I really miss those times.😢
This just took me all the way back!!! I was probably between 5-8 trying to play this. Never made it pass round 4. First time seeing the levels that followed. Considering the time, this was a well made game for a movie.
Rambo First blood Part 2 is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING On the master system , NO MAN , NO LAW, NO WAR CAN STOP HIM JOHN RAMBO IS ABSOLUTELY UNSTOPPABLE. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
18:42 - Yep, remember that scene in the movie when Rambo fights the giant rock face on the wall? 19:41 - Those guys are in pretty buff shape for decades spent in a POW camp.
Ah yes, who could forget that classic scene in Rambo II where John Rambo fought a space alien super computer. This is another game I remember playing with my brother way back in the day, I don't think we ever made it to the city level tho.
In 1986 I was 10 years old and my brother 9. The Sega Master System was our Christmas present that year, along with this game and Rocky. (I was and still am a huge fan of Sylvester Stallone). It took this guy 21 minutes to finished the game. Back then it took my brother and I 21 days. Great fun memories from a simpler time. ❤
This was my game back in the day. I put in work as a kid with this game. my brother would always die by the 3rd level but I would keep going. I got to that last wall face without knowing what to do soo many times. When I finally got it I was so happy!
I loved this game so much as a kid. And i'm surprised to see the amount of comments from folks who, as kids, played this game with their dads. I did too. We loved Rocky and Rambo and he'd play it with me every so often. Like many of you in the comments, my dad is also gone now, so it's a bittersweet memory. And also watching this playthrough I just realized the snipers in blue are police snipers. They didn't really do a good job of mixing up the enemy types in earlier levels 😂
It amazes me how this game isnt in more top 10 lists (I always played it as Secret Command). I think the music is great, ok the bullets are huge, perfect amount of difficulty, co-op game, variety of enemies...such a great game for the time.
The game was cheap, like so many SMS games. It's all well and good... until you take JUST ONE cheap death, then you are back to bullshit wimpy mode, much like in Alien Syndrome. If these games weren't so cheap with the gameplay, i am sure they would have been ranked much higher.
For those that don't know in the original Japanese version this game was called Asura, and the characters where Asura and Bishamon. INn Europe and Australia the game is Secret Commando.
Love this game so much. Lot's of fond memories playing co-op with my older brother. Love the music too. The Stage 2 music is actually featured on the Alex Kidd/Sega Master System 3ds Theme! Huh, guess the player didn't realize that you can blow up the police cars on the second to last level. They are swaps for the tents in earlier stages.
Me and my cuz played this when we visited our grand parents all the time. Never could beat it though. I mean we were 7 years old. I’m sure we would CRUSH IT NOW
@@radspencer8187 it’s not the phaser that’s not working. In most cases the light phasers work fine. The light phasers do not work on today’s tv’s. You gotta get that retro 80’s tv aka crt tv. I bought 1 for few bucks. Works great 👍🏻
That's because it was developed as another game (Ashura in Japan or Secret Commando in Europe) but in Rambo: First Blood (the first Rambo Movie) he fights against cops and the Sheriff indeed.
Wow at the time, I was not familiar with film music at all(how different I am about that now). So, it's so awesome to hear Jerry Goldsmith's music on the title screen. Goldsmith, you were a genius.
Trautman: The war, the whole conflict may have been wrong but damn it don't hate your country for it. Rambo: Hate? I'd die for it. Trautman: Then what is it you want? Rambo: I want, what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want!
I Remember playing this while at the same Time , rocking my 4 12 inch Speakers in the house up stairs with my Sony amplifier EQ Mixer and my CD player on Volume 50 my Parents let's just say I was 2 seconds away from getting kicked out. Lol
Remember that movie where Rambo faced off against rocks that eerily had human faces which spit fireballs at him then he made his way through a giant base with a massive Contra wall at the end of it that also had a robot face on it and he shot his arrows at it? My favorite movie.
Too bad the gameplay wasn't as nice as the graphics. Heavy Barrel on the NES, on the other hand, may not have graphics this nice but the gameplay is solid. ;)
Is anyone going to mention that every P.O.W has a weapon they could have broken out of their prison with in the first place, and why do they all look like Pro Wrestling’s Giant Panther on NES in stage one? Great video, man I miss these days of gaming.
It's original IS Commando. Here in the USA they were trying to capture and take advantage of the whole Rambo crazy that was going on here. So, instead of keeping the original name Commando they renamed it Rambo.
If there was ever a game I could speedrun, it would probably have been this one. I had most of the enemies and which of the rocks contained extra arrows memorized. Not a great game, but it was fun way back in the day.
My brother and I used to play this game all the time, co-op mode. It was called Secret Command, or Secret Commando here in Holland, wonder why that is...
The original Japanese version is called Ashura (i think), this is the USA version and the one you got is the Europe one. Also, I live in Brazil and got Secret Commando too.
Played this and beat it many times back in the day. The key for me was learning the patterns of the npcs. Also I always tried to shoot four npcs with one round to get the nuke arrows.
@@scribbler3894It's just to popularize the Rambo films at that time. But when Nintendo released this game to Virtual Consoles and didn't have license to Rambo films, they went ahead and import the European Secret Commando game to the US as an "import title".
@spoonshiro Yeah, but the Master System game doesn't include the scene where Rambo turns people into frogs by projecting huge kanji at them. So it'll never be authentic to me.

Your comment touches my heart.
God this brings me back. Played this with my older brother as a kid, the music and sound effects are nostalgia overload
First time seeing thisi waa wondering if they made game 🎮? I wasn't tgat big into all games as kids in 80s.
Brother is that you? 🙂
i hope God reads our comment

🤣😂me too!!!
What do you mean probably the easiest Sega game I had, just a little challenge but not too much.
Jose Garcia omg me too
Faceghost881977 hat was the most challenging game to you bro.
@@Faceghost881977 How old were you when you played this?
I used to play this with my dad when i was a boy, crazy to finally see the ending after hes passed. This was definitely our favorite on the sms
Brings back fond memories of playing this game as a child...hardly ever made it past level two, but still, great fun...
@Mr Lex I played this game on Sega Master System as a child, along with Psycho Fox (my #1 favorite Sega game), Zillion II: The Tri Formation, Hang-On, & Double Dragon. Good times...

This game was so sick plus early cooperative made it so much more fun . The soundtrack was also very good for then master system is so underrated.
I love how the game perfectly captures the wall-face battle from the film.
😂😂😂

So many beautiful memories, thanks sega, for being part of my childhoof
This was so much fun co-op! Underrated game. Just never understood why the guns fired snowballs.

I used to play this game with my dad growing up.
My Dad and I use to play this for hours..... ❤ you Dad😄😃
I still remember those moves when beat this game 30yrs ago damn time goes fast!!!
For a 1986 game, they did remarkably well at making the game look not tiled.
Even THIS game is better than the most recent atrocity that was, "Rambo: The Video Game," on Steam!
Developers of that game kinda redeemed themselves with Terminator Resistance.
I used to love to play this game back in the day. It was challenging as hell.
Some absolutely epic close calls here! It's like I'm watching the real Rambo at work.
This was definitely one of my favorite games as a kid

When video games USED TO BE FUN and TO THE POINT! those nostalgic Sega sounds 👍
I cant believe i just watched this!!!!! Thankyou so I much!!!
Rambo is the best man ever.

@Juls c why you gotta be like that?

Same in Brazil,to named secret comando.
The US Virtual Console version is also Secret Commando.

cuantas alegrias y recuerdos me diste al subir este juego. gracias
I’m sure In UK this was called Secret Command. Loved the game.
I loves this game, finished it many times. The police and city level is my favorite.
My mother bought this game for me at Toys "R" Us in the early 80's.
Mid 80s. The game came out in 1986.
I just ordered this for the Master System. My favorite game of all time is Rambo 3 for the Genesis. So, I'm excited to try this for the Master System.
You are lucky then. Finding a light phaser in working condition is next to impossible these days.

Rambo 3 was awesome on Genesis!
NO MAN , NO LAW , NO WAR CAN STOP HIM.
Nostalgia divina! Bellos recuerdos!!!
I like how all of a sudden Rambo is fighting against cops, sheriffs, motorcycle police.
I like to imagine that level as a playable flashback from First Blood (just with a higher bodycount).
That's because it was developed as another game (Ashura in Japan or Secret Commando in Europe) but in Rambo: First Blood (the first Rambo Movie) he fights against cops and the Sheriff indeed.
Like in Rambo: First Blood?
I remember seeing this game for sale at Montgomery ward in San Antonio. Wish I could have bought it.
Looks pretty good for a Master System game. Played the hell out of this in early 88.

This was my game! Loved it so much.
Played this so many times as a kid - never made it to the city - didn’t even know it existed 🤯
Great game love playing this with friends as a kid
This looks like the spiritual successor to the Commando arcade game.
This is nothing like the Rambo: First Blood pt. 2 I had on the 48k.
I remember playing this game for hours
I feel 8yo again, I used to luv blowing up those huts on the sides.
Yeah that part in Rambo 2 where he fought those walls with faces was the best visual fx part of the movie.
This game is dope. Good memories.
played this as a kid. When I heard the sounds again holy cow im 7 years old again:)
This is basically what us NES kids wanted from Ikari Warriors but never got.
Lol! I was thinking the same thing!
Trautman:
The war, the whole conflict may have been wrong but damn it don't hate your country for it.
Rambo:
Hate? I'd die for it.

Then what is it you want?
Rambo:

“Mission! Accomplished!”
“You know there’s more out there. Find them. Or I’ll find you.”

Ikari Warriors clon. I love games like this. Comandos, ikari, jackal...etc
Also Gun.Smoke

This is an awesomely playable game. Looks great for an 8-bit game too.
Great game.
Still got my Master system! And my Rambo game!
For me the game is difficult but the music is worth for playing it
This brings me back memories.
The music is very good to hear in this game. Thats saying alot because i find that most music on sega master system games are annoying.
Great sound track
Wow I had this game back in the day. Loved my sega

This is so satisfying I loved loved this game
I like how Rambo and enemies shoot baseballs at you and he can blow up a tank with a firecracker! Realistic!
No other game from this current generation can top this game.
Memories of playing this at my grandparents house

In the US, Secret Commando was released in 2009 as part of Wii Virtual Console lineup due to the lack of Rambo License.
YOU MADE IT, RAMBO

Awesome game
I got a master system for my bday,my father bought this game..needless to say i never played it lol he use to cuss up a storm on the last level
This game looks brilliant. 8bit run and gun at it’s best.
SMS graphics were always better then NES. Game play too. I think imo Tecmo Superbowl and punch out were the only games I enjoyed on NES.
Muito bom. Melhor que a porcaria que fizeram um tempo atrás.
Plays like Ikari Warriors. I loved this game.
*This is called Secret Command in Europe and Japan* ⭐️
yea i was just about to say... uh wrong Title buddy!
and to that why the fuck does the US always have different titles??
It’s strange how on the box it’s called secret command, but the title screen calls it secret commando.
It's called Ashura in Japan, not Secret Command.

They took me so long, or my concept of time was just different then: I can’t tell.
