Even if it's not metal metal, it's still BLIND GUARDIAN! It's their dream come true, at last. And don't forget "The Bard's Song" it's not their most metal song and yet it's one of the best!

Agreed! I wager most BG fans don't come for the sick instrumentation (though it is definitely a BIG part of their magic), but to be graced with Hansi's heavenly voice and this project shines a special light on that!

20 years talking about a pure Orchestra album, and people still didn't get it. And for people saying "I thought it was going to be metal and orchestra", that's what the last album was. Why would they be making a big deal about the orchestral album, if it was going to be the same combination as the last album?

Actually he is a phenomenon to achieve this continuous progress only a few performers can reach. Look people, this is a special project with only an Orchestra and Hansi that was more than 20 years in the making but they never got the right time to do it until now. The regular Blind Guardian album with guitars and drums will be released later in a year or two.
I don't know why people are so surprised about it. If you like it buy it if you don't then don't waste your time with it. It's that simple, but don't come here thinking it's outrageous or something like that when it was already discussed by the fans since 1998.

@@MetalPersonJ This is incorrect. I remember hearing about this album from when I first got into them in 2005--2006, and they made it clear, even back then, that the album would not have guitar, bass, and a standard drum kit.

@@MetalPersonJ Markus in 2011 "And concerning the music it’s typical Blind Guardian music, just without the Metal band, so you’ll have all the melody lines, all the arrangements played, but played by a classical orchestra with Hansi singing. So, it sounds like Blind Guardian on one side, on the other side it sounds completely different, but it’s very exciting for us, it sounds awesome, we already recorded five or six songs and we also think about maybe doing a more heavy version of this later on involving the band, we have to see if we can adapt it to the Metal band too, but first thing should be purely classical with Hansi singing, as I said."

This song is just EPIC and amazing, the chorus created with the double tracking voice of Hansi are astonishing. Freddie Mercury used that technique which creates epic chorus, i love quite a lot Blind Guardian and their Queen influences.
On the other hand, I love Hansi's voice since i listened to Blind Guardian in 1997/1998 for the first time. From that point to now, Blind Guardian and Hansi Kürsch are my favourite band and singer of Heavy Metal.

    Find this precious stone
    Do not wait, my son
    Leave this world you know

Will it, ever be the same
    Their bliss is, gone away
    Free
It will never, be the same
    They are a, dying race
    Oh, I'm marching on

    Come along, just follow me
    We will meet
    The wizard
Come along, come along with me
    He's the bearer of light
Come along, come along with me
    He's the one to believe
While I head into the storm
There's no need to walk alone
Nor will I be on my own
'Cause, he will be the one
    I kno-o-o-ow
    Entangled forevermore
    These wars we fight
    Conceal all light
    That's what I'm here for
    Oh, I wonder why
I wonder how it, all, turned, wrong
Somehow, I fear, all magic's gone
    You now conceive
This is the point of no return
Rise or fall of the old gods
This is the point of no return
    Rise or fall again
I've come for blood, it's likely
That most of you despise me
    The pharaoh's long gone
    Now let my kingdom come
Yes, I'm the one who's sown the seven plagues
    Now grow
    This deed, means trouble
Make sure there's no more magic, but black magic
    No one else should kno-o-wo-o-wo-o-wo-o-wow
We must obstruct their ways, discretely
    Take hold of the flame
    Take part in my revenge
    Now enter the storm
    Take hold of the flame
And the bell chimes no more
It's time to kill the spark and
I think it's time to kill them all
Oh, watch the trial of men has begun
    It has begun
    We make them believe
    Our reign lasts forevermore
    No guiding light
    No sacred life
    The secret eye knows
    Wake up, my friend now
    Wake up, my friend now
    The second sun appears
    A new breeze
    A new dawn
    A new day
    Tell them all
This is the point of no return
Rise or fall of the old gods
This is the point of no return
    Rise or fall again
This is the point of no return

I'm just going to say this but he is probably the world's greatest metal singer in male version ever and I never like to use the world's greatest but I don't think anybody can top him I'm sorry his vocals in his change the way he does is vocals are just beyond belief and you can understand him and not only that but there is so many goddamn lyrics in these songs that I don't see how he memorizes all this it's incredible .
I mean he has got a gift that's for sure he is got a gift and listen to their music it's like reading a book you know on tape you just close your eyes and just imagine yourself in that world and that's why I love this band I've been a fan of blind guardian ever since they first started I have every single CD they have and now I have them all on my MP3 of course and I can't wait to buy this one on Amazon in November this is going to be just algic this is definitely going to play in my car or a lot

I assumed it was gonna be metal mixed with orchestra, but whatever this sounds amazing; anything with Hansi's vocals is beautiful.

Harmonies and melody lines are pure Blind Guardian. The only thing that's different are the missing metal vibes. But a good song is a good song, no matter what genre. And this one is a great song!

This music brings so much intensity, god why cant all metal bands be this fucking epic
I mean i get it that some bands are like yeah yeah we're so epic
But then you have blind guardian standing above in the distance like a fucking floating mega city made of like the most metal thing conceivable to mortal eyes and people go oh yeah that blind guardian over in the distance with their new masterpiece, but noone simply travels to the great blind guardian album on foot, here, you'll need this ancient flying machine to get there and to cross the border to the otherland, there you will find a cavern guarded by an evil wizard and 30 black dragons, then travel deep into the depths until you find a portal to the sky temples, from there seek refuge with the king and in 3 days time travel and arrive to the mountains in the far north region, that is the entrance to the path that will lead to the tunnel that will lead to the cave that will lead to the boat that will lead to a tower that you'll climb to get to the entrance of blind guardian 20 year fresh orchestral album, dare the mortals eye who gazes upon it will leave you blind by its light, where a cloth around your eyes and listen to the sounds that will guide you through the masterpiece only then you may be able to see without being blinded by its majesty

I just hope they do it in a proper room. I love metal, in its entirety. Prog, death, melodeath, tech death, folk, power, black, industrial, (trash & glam not that much though)...
But this beauty needs to be in a proper room, not the typical metal room. I want a classical concert room, or a cathedral/basilica. Am I the only one?

I’m really happy with Blind Guardians change in sound. Bands imo need to try things that are new and take risks. If a band does not do that, the music can sometimes sound like the same thing. I loved the last album and I hope this album can be just as great, or even better.

Some bands manage to do well in maintaining a certain style (The Black Dahlia Murder, for example) but most of the time it stagnates and ruins the music. I'm excited to see the new direction Blind Guardian takes!

or just find a band that doesen't suck and stick to that, so much good beautyfull music out there, time to realise that BG is far gone too deep in satanic circles and that they are DONE, Night at the opera is the end of BG, last good album period, i was in denial for a few years as they were the best metal act for me for 15 years, then I studied the lyrics verry carefully and was shocked with obscure content, Satanism at it best, hidden to casuall listener and verry disturbing to those who see...

I've always thought Blind Guardian had a theatrical vein, for example the lyrics often talking in first person as the character in the story. It is especially evident in this song. Hansi has said he is a big fan of Jesus Christ Superstar so that might be the connection. I think he would make a great musical theatre actor, he has all the right instincts.

Like DeadMadJoker said, it was never ment to be a new Blind Guardian Album. Since 2000 or earlier, Hansi and André wanted to create a orchestral album to unleash all ther creativity and do something different. I see why they took the name Blind Guardians Twilight Orchestra for this, the label "Blind Guardian" comes with a big basis of potential consumers (and buyers). :)
I'm super hyped for this project, since my first listen to A night at the opera I thought of how they could sound without the "limitation" of still beeing a metal band.
And as wonderfull message for you: Next Year there'll be a new Deamons and Wizards album *-*.

and why people give this thumbs down I don't understand I guess because they don't know what real music is they don't know what inspiration and dedication and having this voice and doing this stuff is because this is hard I mean just try to sing one of their songs and you could strain your voice for days but he doesn't he does it so complexed and he doesn't push his vocals at all it's just like it comes out naturally where you know some singers, just scream or they strain your voice so bad like Geoff Tate you know from you know Queen's Right originally you know he hurt his vocals so bad that he had to get surgery and now he sounds phenomenal because he trained his voice to do what it needs to do and not but this guy you know maybe it's because he's German I don't know but he's just phenomenal

The song is over half done before the chorus kicks in, I am kept waiting for the heavy guitars to come in (which they never do), it feels like a scene from a Wagnerian opera, and the opening pseudo-polk bit was funny.
    *I LOVE IT!!!*
