Brought back memories of growing up. My father used to fly out of Burbank almost on a weekly basis on PSA airlines before they were assimilated and I have flown out of that airport many times myself. Supposedly the airport terminal will be replaced in the next few years. The Burbank airport is also famous for having been the home of the Lockheed Skunk Works where many aircraft were developed including the F-117 Stealth Fighter and the SR-71 spy plane.
Two US base airlines started to fly this year, one is Avelo, the other is Breeze, both are ULCC airlines, you won't see them in major US airports since they only fly to 2nd or 3rd tier cities
I've flown Avelo frequently from Burbank to Arcata. Almost every flight was full, 186 passengers. Very tight seat space but most of their flights are under 2 hours and it's comparatively inexpensive. I much prefer them over southwest because you can book a seat number, I usually choose 2C or 2D for easy on/off, row 1 has no "Under the seat in front of you" storage.
Just flew on them last week. One way, North Fort Myers, FL to New Haven, CT. Airline departed and arrived early. Excellent staff and crew. Great experience. I will fly them again. #aveloairlines
I've been living in L.A. for 20 years, and I fly out of BUR often because it's a much easier alternative to LAX (both are about the same distance from our house). At BUR the long-term lot is only a 5 minute walk to the terminal, and you can be from your car to the gate in 15 minutes without the need to rub elbows and catch COVID on a shuttle bus. The terminal is rather run down and lacking in amenities but the convenience and ease of use more than makes up for it. There have been proposals to replace the terminal with a newer, larger one with jet bridges on the other side of the runway, but whenever it comes up for a vote the NIMBYs vote it down. If BUR can't build a new terminal within the next 10 years or so it'll probably be forced to close down and be demolished like what's in store for Santa Monica Airport (SMO).
Of course the NIMBY’s spoil things up. That’s why we barely can have nice things in LA. As an SFV guy, I hope that will not be the case. I hate driving to LAX, and I’m sure a lot of SFV residents do too.
Wonderful report. You said the Burbank Airport is old, and it was LA's first major airport and has an amazing history. In fact, it's where the first transcontinental passenger flight landed back in 1928. The "flight" took off two days earlier from New York's Penn Station at 5pm. Night flying was hazardous, so passengers rode the Pennsylvania Railroad's night train from New York to Port Columbus, Ohio. There they boarded a Ford Tri-Motor and flew to Waynoka, Oklahoma, where they transferred to a Santa Fe Railway night train. At Clovis, New Mexico, they boarded another Tri-Motor for the final leg to Los Angeles, landing at Burbank. T.A.T. air-rail service took a day less than by train alone, but a one-way ticket cost a whopping $338.
Avelo! I think I have seen them advertised on social media before, and that they are an airline that flies to an airport near my hometown, which is one that is mainly used for private aviation and wartime plane shows. Glad you loved your flight!
Great video! I work as a fueler at EUG and have gassed up 701VL more than a few times so it was really interesting to see what Avelo's like from the inside perspective. Hope you enjoyed it here.
Nice airport at Burbank, a good cheaper and less hassle alternative to LAX... But then why at 2:18 I can see that there's a direct flight between the two? 🧐
Looks like I'm gonna be booking a flight with Avelo out of Burbank to Redding here in a couple days. I'm kinda interested to see how it goes. I havn't flown in about 15 years.
1. Great Video, as always 2. When are you going to start adding information about how tall you are? (Otherwise, the seat pitch information is pretty...useless). Thank You!
I love the optimism that the leadership has in this new airline but I don't see it lasting too long. Too large of an aircraft for a lot of their routes. Going the way of Breeze and using E-Jets would have made more sense.
You should, once try VAJB airport. It's a domestic airport in India. I suggest you try for VAJB-VABB or VAJB-VIDP. The airport is just two rooms I reckon. Super short and just upto the mark. No shops. Just check in, security, travel to the plane via the airport bus, and viola you are in the plane. 👍🏻😀
Sure wish there was a non-stop flight between Bur-Msp.No one flies that route without switching planes somewhere. You would think that DL or WN would have at least a direct flight but no. Maybe a route Avelo should look at??
Um, I guessed you missed his sort-of joke, where he did point out that his Avelo flight was the only flight on the board that wasn't Southwest. And, honestly, how hard was it to find.
@@cutienoobbricks I guess I did. To be fair, (and to grasp at straws to save my credibility), you should at least have put a space between "search" and the smiley face.
The shadow separating from the aircraft at take-off and then being reunited on landing, was a really fun thing about this video. Loved it.
me too!

Thanks for mentioning PSA and also the Lockheed plant at BUR. I was thinking about both of those aviation history points while watching cool video!
Nice review and great lighting too. Honestly I’ve never heard of this airline and Eugene Airport’s arrival hall definitely has a retro feel to it.
It’s started operations this year

Wow, I’ve been watching this channel for years and I’d never thought you would fly to my home state. Welcome to Oregon!
Another airline, another great video
This is why I love this channel because i be on planes at night the I can just watch this
Nice. Another new carrier is AHA! Airlines which operate from reno/Tahoe international.
Avelo! I think I have seen them advertised on social media before, and that they are an airline that flies to an airport near my hometown, which is one that is mainly used for private aviation and wartime plane shows. Glad you loved your flight!
Simply aviation is my favourite and most likely channel at RUclips ✌🏻💙
Their 73Gs are now flying the new HVN ops. If you arrive into BUR the approach looks better on the right side.
I haven't been on a plane in a long time I've been on one years ago when I was just a kid I would love to travel by plane again it's so relaxing

I’ve been waiting for a trip report like this! Awesome! 😎

good video, thanks. That landing was exceptional. Damn good pilot.
Thanks for flying out my hometown
I love BUR
wow great video!! seems like a decent airline. looking forward to trying. thanks Merci.
My cousin is flying Avelo this December to visit us! So funny that an airline would be based in tiny Tweed New Haven.
Just curious how David managed to be in the US in September 2021 when the American border just opened to foreign travellers in November 2021?
There are loopholes. I traveled to and from Europe as a Portuguese citizen a couple different times during covid lol
Probably has a visa. It's only visa-free travel that's recently resumed.
You can go to turkey or Mexico for ten days then go to the USA
1. Great Video, as always
2. When are you going to start adding information about how tall you are? (Otherwise, the seat pitch information is pretty...useless). Thank You!
Thanks for your review.
great review and nice views! thanks for the video

Excited to fly Avelo in two months, saving my family $1,000!
I hate how I’m terrified of flying yet love it. 🙁
Excited to see Southwest 737-700s back in service! I heard the seats don't recline, was that the case?
Looks like we have a new competitor to *Spirit Airlines*
Would be fun if the aircraft on the route matched the retro vibe of Burbank and Eugene: every av geek on the planet would be there (me included)
Nice to know that you flew over my house!
Great trip report and good review! It's good to know about Avelo. Can you do one for Breeze Airways?
Welcome to my town of Eugene
Southwest Airlines. Looks like the seats are somewhat rearranged.
Please , can someone give me the entro music for the video? The download link? 🙏
BUR-EUG, from The Wonder Years capital to Stand By Me capital...

not many people on that flight no way they turned a profit

@@s125ish Ya,I know LAX is not that far away from BUR..but lots of people avoid using LAX if possible and they try to avoid the L.A. traffic jams.

How considerate of the airport to have a curfew until 7am for no flights. Keeps people from waking up abruptly.

Come to alice springs airport in vergin australia 737
Does Avelo serve from Singapore to India
No - Avelo is a US domestic airline.
Nice video, but should've pointed out the flight on the departure board.
Don't like having to search;)
