Golly! Worked flawlessly for me. I used it to move my behemoth of a file (OST file) to my NAS, since my puny SSD couldn't contain the size of this single file... This is a game changer for me! I so appreciate you posting this video!!! Thanks a billion!

Please note that deleting a symlink that points to a folder will also delete the folder itself. This is very important. Appreciate it if you could show a way to delete a symlink that points to a folder in another location without deleting the content of that folder.

So hard links are not for saving space on the original or source drive, just duplicating. symbolic links are for creating shortcuts?

I tried junction method and only original file/folder take up space in drive.

Symlinks are not like shortcuts which are direct paths to the source location. Think of them more like as if the folder you are linking to actually exists in that folder, but will redirect to the actual containing folder when clicked into and any modifications to the files therein will change the files in the source folder. They will not take up any additional space on any portion of a drive.

Which option should i use for moving my C/Users/***/AppData/Local folder to D/AppData/Local for example? Junction, symbolic link or which one? The program must work without any problems but I don't want it to take up space in C drive. It appear there but dont occupy space. I hope i could tell it clearly.

Great and well explained! This was very useful with ableton and vst folder issue, but now im thinking on how to delete the link safely, without removing any content of a folder, I need to reorder some of my files, and Im scared not to delete everything by mistake.

I noticed these Links didn't work for files on Lucid (What did work were the folder structure links, copy options, and linking Lucid Files to a non Lucid hosted location)

I made a hard link and when I change the title of the original file it doesn't change the hardlink? How can that be if its basically just a shortcut? Wouldn't it not work if the file names are different? Both files work normally! So weird, I also change the hardlink name and it doesn't change the name of the original either but both still work?

Yeah it was explained at 0:52. But some people would still prefer a software because it's more convenient to understand. There is a reason that it exists anyway
