Pure nostalgia, what happy memories. Flew twice out of Lympne on the 748., in mid sixties. Did a day trip to Rotterdam to see the tulips at Keukenhof. Then did day trip to Beauvais for sightseeing in Paris. From memory each passenger had snack box on their seat when boarding! Beautiful sound of the darts screaming. Lovely video, many thanks.
I flew on a Dokota aged 9 ish from Lympne early morning in the mid 60’s with a group of about 30 wheezing children to get treatment for asthma at a spa in La Bourboule in France. This was pre Ventolin which changed everything. No idea where we flew to but there was a very long dusty coach journey the other end. I remember the feeling of cold leather against my legs, but I wear long trousers these days 🤣🤣
Living in Beauvais I regularly flew with Skyways coach Air from Beauvais Airport to Lympne and to Lydd Airports... from 1967 to 1979.. for my firt flight the runway was grass.. It has been tarmacked in 1970...
Excellent, my time at Lympne didn't start until 1970. The daks are all freighters operated by Skyways Air Cargo, later to become Air Freight Ltd. The daks were used in the TV series 'The Brothers' and the producers had a removable decal of the letters FL made, so that their fictional airline was named 'Flyways Air Cargo'. When the real airline changed its name to Air Freight they changed the fictional one to 'Flair Freight' to avoid buying new stickers for the aircraft.
Hi, I never had the opportunity to get to lympne to see the skyways daks but remember the yorks at heathrow, it seemed like they would just clear the trees at the end of the runway on takeoff
Since I posted this video I have found a couple more clips of 748's at Lympne. I will include them with some old footage of Bristol Freighters at Lydd, which I am working on at the moment.

Excellent, I am looking forward to seeing that, congratulations and thanks for conserving this bit of aviation history.
I walked the remains of the dug up runway today.
Flew Skyways from Lympne 1963 to Beauvais, the runway was grass
I think the runway had not long been tarmacked when this film was shot.
Skyway,s also a regular into Luton.
Some of those props don't sound that unlike jets!
