Just the viedo i've been searching for YEARS! Thank You !!! Easy to understand, Straight to the Point ! couldn't Ask for a Better Video ! the PERFECT Video for my Skill Level
It shouldn’t get a bad rap. Ignore the haters. If you like it, use it. Capos are also a great way to keep your chords “ringing” where a bar chord wouldn’t have as much sustain.
@@edcrutchfield3447 no problem, if you count A as zero. And move up five semitones from that. So A sharp is one, B is two, C is three, C sharp is four, D is five.
HI! I'm lost! If I'm playing chords A D and E with the capo on the 2nd fret, what key am I in? Also, How did you figure it out? Thanks for your time and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!
Hey, can anyone help me with answering this question? :) If I star in Em and I have the Capo on the 2nd fret, I take the root "E" and go up 2 = Gb or F#? Which one is it? And what about the minor, do I add the minor to the result like Nathan did with the Am example? Thanks guys!
Either works but using F#m makes more sense as it falls into the keys nicely ( you see F#m in many if these ) also you do add the minor since you are still playing a minor chord
Waited for such a straightforward lesson for years, can't wait for next one..
Well done
Adam McMahon Thanks ! I have a whole series of new lessons on the way!
Thank you. This is the best explanation of what chord you are actually playing when using the capo, that I have seen.
Eternally grateful for this, Nathan.

I’m lost 🤷🏾♂️. Am to Dm with capo on the 5th you got Dm ? Help I mean do you count the A or Am then B then C then D then Dm
I think you might be confusing a “flat” with a “minor” don’t count the A but start at A and move up 5 semitones from A
Ok bear with me please ! Ab A A# B C C# D D# How do you get 5 ? I really appreciate your help on this

Hi Jim, ADE becomes B E F# so you are in the key of B major, which is up 2 steps from A

Very nice, but here’s a cheat. If you use an electronic tuner; capo and then play the root note. The tuner will give you the key.
