  • How to replace the rear wheel bearing/hub assembly on a 2007-2014 Ford Edge. I cover details on both front wheel drive and all wheel drive vehicles. On AWD models you will need a special tool to get to the bolts holding the hub assembly on.
Special tool (extended T-60 bit, CTA Tools 3759 | Flywheel Mount Bolt Wrench BMW/Ford):

Howdy: You can reach the bolts through the rear springs with an extension also. your line won't be perfect but it gets the job done!
I ran an extension all the way through the spring.

I tried that with this one, but the position of the spring on this one just made the angle of the tools more than I felt comfortable with. Definitely didn't wanna have to mess with a rounded out torx bolt! If the spring is sitting right you could definitely get away with it though!

🤣 As long as you celebrate with some kind of beverage of your choice from a company that doesn't support things you don't believe in (pretty sure you know what I'm getting at with that) then it's all good! It's been probably a decade since I had one of those. I might have to buy a 6 pack and give them a shot again.

Argh!!! I did the passenger rear last year and it took all of about 10 minutes once I had the Edge in the air. This year I am doing the Driver side and it's stuck. I'm also restricted to doing this in a parking lot at an RV campground. Although I do have plenty of hand and power tools. Guess I am soaking mine over night to HOPEFULLY get it to come out of the backing plate.

    Hey bud,
I would love some help, do you have a FB or anyway I can ask you some questions about this job?
I’m replacing my wife’s DR bearing on her 12 edge awd limited and it’s completely different than what yours looks like. But your description says it covers her make and model but maybe I’m missing something or getting confused….. It is late, and I’ve been married to this freaking bearing now for a week and hear about it everyday….
I have it pulled down all the way, hub bolts out, axle nut off, but can’t get the hub(bearing) to pull out.
“Supposedly” the rear ones are not a press fit and should slide in halfway smoothly and easily when knuckle is cleaned up and anit-seize is applied first.
I can send pics if there’s a way?
Anyways I hope you get this and can help a brother diesel guy out with some knowledge & time.
    Thanks buddy!!
P.s. love your videos, very helpful

You can email me at darkhorseautoanddiesel@gmail.com. I check it once or twice a day. I'm interested to see what you have going on there. I've got a couple ideas on what you need to do, but some pictures will help me know exactly which method I recommend.
One day I may make a business page on Facebook, but I don't even use my personal one anymore. Haven't for around 4 years. I pretty well wrote off social media, and find life more enjoyable because of that.

Not that I'm aware of. To be fair, I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

    Can I use a normal t 55 with a spinning extension?

You can, if you are really careful. Personally I wouldn't chance it. With the possibility of rust and the bolt being hard to break loose because of that, you run a high chance of rounding the head out, then you're in for a real treat. For what the right tool costs, it's worth the security in my opinion.
