Good video. Some of these guys need to learn to carry a loop of webbing so they don't have to fight that 2 1/2" so much. A girth hitch around the hose keeps you from wearing out so quick.
Wow, four guys on a hand line standing outside in the doorway of the exposure constantly shutting it down and not moving in 😯 I'm glad I don't live in that town 😱 that's what you call surround and drown. Save the foundation 😯
Thank You for posting this video I am using this as an educating tool to improve our services on the fireground. If you post any other videos on this fire please let us know, Again thanks for a job well done. Tony Mondaro, Chief, North Arlington EMS
Curious to know why they didn't vent the roof… There was so much smoke and guys on the ground and especially in the air without masks on… Smoke Eaters = early retirement and death. Great video coverage with excellent picture quality. They had some issues with hydrants at the scene being dry… When I had a hydrant in front of and near my home, I would shovel them out in the winter and even bought a hydrant wrench to check it out every spring and late fall. The water department wasn't that great so it gave a bit more piece of mind.
(Disclaimer, I was not at this fire.) A warehouse like this, I can understand not venting the room. With the probability of steel truss construction, that can go at any time, so why risk it? Building looks well involved, it seems much of the operation at the beginning was to protect property until a better push could be made. Further, if it is a a sponge like room, to cut and power through it will be a hassle, and further, you won't be able to detect the heat and may find yourself in a worse off situation than when you started. Being in the smoke however, without a mask, especially at an industrial/warehouse I would recommend against. Then again, the fire service is 200 years of tradition unimpeded by progress.
There was plenty of ventilation. Why place FF's on a roof that's on fire . Out of curiosity, what was your need to insult 3x & insinuate lack of intelligence, for not using SCBA outside a fire, 20ft away? Are you aware of the LD50 of many common chemicals found in fire once introduced to the atmosphere? Things to think about before sounding stupid.
I think that I will raise the aerial ladder just enough to lift it out of the bed for show. On second thought I am going to put the ladder back in its bed. On third thought, I have decided to raise the ladder out of the bed one more time and use the water tower to play water on the fire. All this decision making by the aerial ladder's operator who is not wearing a helmet nor a SCBA, nor a communications radio.

Albert....yes. on a commercial building it usually takes the guys from the power company to kill the electricity. Structure fires usually take priority over any other calls. Old comment I know. But if you see this I hope it answers your question.
Just wondering. Are there any plans to begin training for a Ladder company? Also. Not to offend anyone but. It appeared most, if not everyone wearing turnout gear who was standing around should be on a weight reduction plan. For their own benefit.
Holy shit in the beginning, they're using a 2" 1/2 hose with the PSI at like 200!!! lol get a 1" 3/4 and keep it 150, youll use less air by not battling the hose like they are!
Ladder operator not keeping an eye on the men on top, wondering around looking over the rear and side, no venting of roof (they are letting it get out of control) 16 minutes into the video do they protect exposures. This whole thing is a farce. If I did not do my job as a Captain I would be gone. Training for these guys is required.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joseph, I am not a Monday Morning Quarterback, I was a Captain of a medium size Fire Dept. with 34 years experience I know what I am talking about. Look and spell a persons name correctly, You are the one who is a Shmuck.
As critical as I am regarding humans that attempt to pass themselves off as fire fighters, you can't tell what the heck is going on from this video. It is obviously a search and destroy mission but from where to where? This video was shot from so many directions, you can't tell what's what.
Great video man, I heard that it was a 5th alarm, it was on the news too, What fire department were on scene?

A lot of fireman doing absolutly nothing , other than walking around

Seems they have a problem getting water supply going. One hydrant is not opening properly. They have a tough nut to crack.
As much smoke as is blowing out of this place there are too many guys standing around without masks.
i lke looking at fires

If there was a male in the building as reported, he would have had no chance with all that smoke.

Fire was through the roof on arrival, genius.
Reminds me of the Three Stooges.

This is so dangerous
lol lol lol lol look at newark nj resque 1 now thats a real resque
What's the point of hydrants if they don't function? Maintain. Don't get into that "It could never happen to me" scenario. That's a big fire.
It's a small side street only has a few hydrants there's more on Schuyler Ave but due to the size of Ewing Ave placement can be hard
the roof was corregated it would have needed a K-12 to ventilate and that would have created even more sparks
TRUCK 1 IS PARKED RIGHT UNDER THE POWERLINES HOW ARE THEY GOING TO DEPLOY THE ARIEL LADDER?
they said not enough water be cause bad hyd make longer lay with eng between
who resqu is that at 25:53? by d haz-mat
