Shockwave was the best example of a g1 transformer. He's almost perfect in every way except he doesn't have a hip joint. He looks exactly like the cartoon and comic. He has knees, elbows, a head that turns. Magnificent.
"He looks exactly like the cartoon and comic." Yeah, 'cuz the cartoon and comic model was one of the few designs that wasn't tampered with for the cartoon and comic. It's more accurate to say the cartoon and comic look exactly like the toy since it came first.
Here's a bit of trivia: At least 4 Shockwave figures make a cameo appearance in James Cameron's ALIENS film. Shockwave appears as apparent futuristic medical instruments and they can be seen in the Ripley and Newt medical Facehugger attack. Particularly 2 are seen when Ripley get the sprinklers activated and she is calming Newt down when a Facehugger attacks her and jumps to her chest. See if you guys can spot Shockwave there.
I am a Chinese local and I owned this KO version years ago (at least 10 years...) The "original" retail price back in 2012 in China is about 269 RMB, which is abiout 38 USD. I checked the recent price on Taobao, the price is 279 RMB, roughly only an 1.5 USD increase from its 2012 price. SO it seems that the overseas (export) price is a bit blatant.
As far as I'm aware it was nearly impossible to pick up a Shockwave in the UK as a kid in the 80s. We have the grey Tandy version. My wife bought me a KO SW 10 years ago for my 40th. And this was my route to sort out other KO bots and needed for my collection. The UK Marvel stories were padded out with different storylines. We didn't get the Shockwave take over stuff until issue 22. He is still one of my favourite Transformers. Very nice video sir🤜💥🤛
Yes, just like Swoop and the boxed set of the Constructions, it wasn't officially on sale in the UK. I got a dark grey KO Shockwave (with clear pink parts) from a market in the UK. I think toys TrU in the UK sold KO Swoops too.
I just got this one, I am actually really happy with it, one of the ones on my bucket list to get. I am sad that the switch to change his sound keeps falling out of position
I have both the real G1 shockwave and the knock off version. The gun barrel on both have issues with gaps and all. My Real G1 has the first backing but my KO has the metroplex one. I have over 200 G 1 Tfs MY KO fits snug and my real one has the tip as well.
Don't cut the tip from his gun-hand! It's actually a peg for a piece at the end. It appears you're missing that barrel part there. Great review though.
I just bought one of those KO Shockwaves. Yours is missing the nozzle end. Mine was separate as well in the box. It looks like a little sleeve that slides on to the end of that nozzle. Once you put that on, the gun barrel will fit tight in gun mode.
Shockwave and hound were my 1st 2 transformers when I was a kid before I even knew what transformers was and because 1 was a gun and the other a jeep and didn't scale I didn't know till the cartoon they from the same franchise
I bought some of the KOs. The giveaways among all of them are the box never includes the catalog, rub symbols are never applied, and all metal parts are swapped out for plastic. Other than that, it's awesome opening a new G1, applying the stickers, and enjoying it the way I did back in the 80s without destroying thousands of dollars in value. Edit: the upper legs on yours appears to be metal. That's unusual. I don't have Shockwave, but all other KOs I have have diecast swapped for plastic.
All the KO counterfeit G1 stuff I have gotten is identical to the originals with die-cast parts. I am sure some places make plastic only versions, but that isn't what I am getting. Oh, I totally forgot about the catalog! Thanks for pointing that out!
The gun on the gun arm is molded differently than my original g1. It looks shorter with the reissue. It appears to be missing a segment of the original barrel. The original length is 2 inches from tip to where the purple plastic arm starts. The end of the gun arm barrel was also open ended, it doesn't have a tip. I also noticed the reissue packaging. My original had a black twist tie to help hold Shockwave in the Styrofoam.
I would love to get the Radio Shack version. It was gray, and just as beautiful. I could never afford thee figure, as I was a poor kid. My mom did try her best! Thank you, mom!
Shockwave sent the predacons after Megatron. But Megatron was such a badass that he single-handedly defeated Predaking. I had that comic. It made Megatron the greatest badass of all time.
i have the galactic man version of this (got it yesterday from a comic shop) and its awesome! i just need to get the sounds fixed but the lights work, im hyped to get everything in working condition!
@@CarnoReviews I do. I have one of those. Guess he doesn't suffer from any dysfunction on that part. With mine, I think the electronics work, but it's got issues. The gun hand is broken, I think.

ShowZ is starting to carry these "reissues" at a much better price than other places. I'm really looking forward to their Combiners.
The peg you were asking about was not in the original or the KO I got a few years ago. Great review.
Yeah, but it's actually there, just covered with a barrel. I hope to find a junker with the barrel still present.
@@ToySpotlite I just received my KO and it came with the barrel that pops onto that peg.

@@fritztopher Whenever you can, look up the scenes and see if you can identify him 😁 that was just clever and fun to see.

Want some Ukay energon candy wraps?
ShowZ is now selling this for around 64 dollars, which is mad as they're also selling a ko of the mp Shockwave for around 45 dollars...

Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to see if I can get the barrel part from a junker at some point.

The KO G1 toys have collapsed the vintage toy prices.
I had a Chinese knockoff Shockwave from The Changeable series. It was dark gray but everything else was accurate. A whole lot affordable, too.

since I lost most my hearing I cannot tell the diffrence between the two as far as sound goes
Shockers it is Shockwave!
Great nostalgia.
Megatron had a scope shockwave has flip sights.
why is the knockoff more than a real one
Faction symbols should be on each forearm and rub on his chest
Thanks!
if this ko i still buy it too hard to find a real one bec the real ones can have not working parts
The original was a radio shack exclusive
I have 1 as well not oringel but as you have it
A usted Le a venido defectuoso sin la punta del cañón..
Will you be doing Blitzwing reissue KO?
If I buy one. Not sure if I will yet.
Second series referring to toy waves?
no second issue of g1 figure
Hi Captain Kyle! Just the tip huh?
Hi Logan. Phrasing!
