I lived in Kuching from 2003-6. Gawai was a festival that i always looked forward to. Spent most of them in tiny kampongs out in the jungle, often being recruited to play the gongs until sunrise when they realized I was a trained musicians. Then someone tried to teach me how to do the plate dance. That was an utter failure. 😂 Thanks for bringing the memory back to me. Those where some of the best times of my life that I’ll never forget.
I really hope someone can help to insert the Chinese subtitle so that I can share this very great video with my mum who cannot understand English. The video is superb ! u knw kadazan dusun tribe is famous for beautiful girl... every hari keamatan they hv a keamatan Queen... many westerner came to sabah and end up settle down here becoz get spellbound by kadazan dusun beauty
@@muhammad11ali11 Any drink with alcoholic content is forbidden in Islam for d Muslim. Tapai is fermented tapioca or glutinous rice, no alcohol content. I do realize that there r few Muslim that consume alcoholic drink although they know it's against their religion. I cannot judge those people. 🙂
There is another murut festival called Pesta Kalimaran which is celebrated on the 31st of March every year at the Tenom Murut Cultural Center. You should do a vlog about that too 😄
Wow..Tapai in bamboo. That's new. It used to be in a Tajau (Clay Jar) where people would take turn to sip from a straw. I was always grosed by that. Covid changed it. Something good as a result of Covid.

You should go the Sarawak Cultural Village once you in Sarawak later. Unfortunately, you miss the Gawai Festival in Sarawak which is on 1 & 2 June 2022 same purpose as the Sabah one. The Sarawak Cultural Village is the earliest and followed by the other states like Sabah etc... The Sarawak Cultural Village also where the Rainforest World Music Festival conducted yearly by all performers from around the World....

Keamatan is a Malay word that has no meaning.
