Great video, but why exactly are you driving in the passing lane the entire time? Is there some reason you are unable to follow the signs saying "Left lane for passing only," by putting your turn signal on briefly then moving over to the right lane?Someone even passed you on the right. But seriously, it was a great video otherwise. Beautiful landscape.
Ahh I remember this part of my x-country drive. Not as boring as New Mexico, & now that I look at it again I appreciate the beauty, whereas during my trip I was just "picking them up & putting them down" to get to Killeen/ Fort Hood as fast as possible.
I now take this road when I go to Houston and San Antonio. Aside from the 80mph and the continuous freeway, it is quite a scenic road and I really enjoy the views from Sonora to Kerrville.
I have a lot of good memories with this road, as I have travelled it several times in the past decade going to between my current home (Orange County, CA) and my past home (Houston, TX). The part between Junction and Fort Stockton is really pretty.
I, too, was struck by the both the greenery and hilly nature of I-10 thru West Texas. Some of those cuts through the rocks are spectacular. One of my favorite stretches of rural freeway in the country. Thanks for putting this up; I'll be watching this one again sometime soon.
Drove this last summer and encountered a couple of dust storms through there. I wasn't expecting those haha. It is definitely some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen while driving, personally. Guess I'm too accustomed to Appalachian mountains and trees? haha Great video!
I avoided most of the interstate when I drove through West Texas (on my way from Kentucky to California). I drove south from Austin to San Antonio, then west through Hondo to Eagle Pass to Del Rio, where I spent the night. From Del Rio, I cruised up US 90 to Alpine, then north on Highway 118 before catching Interstate 10 at Kent. Had I know the Interstate was this scenic, I may have opted to take it.
gshunw went to vacation to Vegas and arizona seen my first 85 mph road with not a single car on the road, shit looked fun to drive. I cant even drive 5 miles without sitting in traffic for a half hour and almost getting into a fight with someone
Yeah scary, especially when it's hard to drive certain areas alone. When I drive a long distance alone for the first time, I have to fight the 'no turning back' anxiety.
I enjoyed your video. I use to travel from Junction to El Paso & to Phoenix. I think the scenery is awesome! I was always going out there quite often in the 1990's. My destination never really mattered that much. Just loved the country. Everything was cheap back in those days, & safer as well. So I'd often stay a month to six weeks out there. Loved every moment.
I make the drive between El Paso and San Antonio at least twice per year. I love the drive and I think it is very scenic, especially west of Fort Stockton.
@@nomadnametab Yes. Not as many gas stations or houses anywhere. There are several attractions though that are bound to catch someone's interest. I have stopped at Seminole Canyon State Park, At the Pecos river high bridge where there's a picnic area to the left if your heading west & stopped at the Judge Roy Bean visitors center. The mountains in Mexico which you can see from highway 90 is awesome. Aside from that there really isn't that much.
That's when travelers come off of the end of westbound I-20 onto westbound I-10, and then they have to use that left exit from westbound I-10 if they decide to go to eastbound I-10. It's a little strange how they did that, but that's what it is.
I remember the 277 from Del Rio to Sonora.. Then we take the 10 to Ozona.. We take other road the take you to Big Lake, use to live in Garden City.. Now I'm in Wisconsin.. But Texas it what I Love.
Ahhh..now this is my neck of the woods. I have traveled this same journey many many times...very nice, but then it gets a little boring after Junction Texas. I love our speed limits in Texas, have you heard of the possible increase?
6:37, going in the opposite direction is the checkpoint, I will always loathe and detest it, I got detained for 35 minutes on Labor day weekend there. All I did was take out my driver license to display it to the agent and another agent freaked out on me and 7-8 agents searched me. 1 frisked me. When I came back to El Paso from San Antonio, I took out my middle finger on westbound I-10 while going 80 mph in my rental car.
Wow, I never knew that W. TX. could be so incredible! Look at all the mesa hills even in the foreground and backround! Amazing! Boring or not i still love love love this video!
Great ride! It was as if I was actually there with the sun scorching like hell (lol). Hope to travel this area of I-10 at some part in my lifetime (lol). Again great job Screw.
I love my west Texas home! I don't live in El Paso. Alot of my family does. I love it except right now. In a drought and sooooo many fires!! Praying for all the families
Ha, i used to live directly off I-10 in Leon Springs, TX (in between Boerne and SA). Hill Country is nice, but after that..... The short drive from San Antonio to Corpus Christi is equally boring.
***** fuck you pickup truck drivers, youre prob a highway driver come drive in nyc youll get tailgated lights flashed at you , cut off , cursed at and if you dont like it you better be ready to road rage fight
***** where in nyc? youre prob thinking of manhatten , manhatten aint nothing but cabbies come to downtown brooklyn / flatbush area guaranteed you get into a fght or almost get into a fight i almost fight these jerkoffs everyday and liberals banned guns here lol
the drive through west texas is the most boring ride I've even been in. riding from dallas to el paso and el paso to dallas is one hell of a boring ride
Left lane hogger...
W. Texas is stunning. Never knew it was that beautiful.

excellent ride! I've been wanting to get out to west texas/big bend area for a few years now... this makes me even more anxious!
Good video, on the map it looks like a long dreadful ride but the video says otherwise, nice!
so many times, I've traveled that route, loved it.
Thanks for sharing
Looks like this drive is from Comfort Texas to Fort Hancock Texas.

Nice tour. I would be upset if I had to do this at night, as I would miss everything.

@4:58 that Love's Store was a sight for sore eyes on my trip to El Paso. Had never been so happy to see one ever lol

Nice drive on interstate 10 West through West Texas
So that's what its like to drive a freeway w/ an 80 speed limit. Nice, we need in AZ like NOW!

Stunning.
The intersection of I-10 and I-20 is where the desert mountains begin separating the flat and wet lands of Texas
lived in ozona texas loved it
Cant wait to take a drive from Dallas out to west Texas! If I do I will film it since I cant find any other vids on here that show that journey.
Kick-ass footage...great soundtrack!
never seen a road that open , sucks being from nyc
We take it for granted here..... :-(
gshunw went to vacation to Vegas and arizona seen my first 85 mph road with not a single car on the road, shit looked fun to drive. I cant even drive 5 miles without sitting in traffic for a half hour and almost getting into a fight with someone
Seems like a super long ride from San Antonio to el paso
Its about 8 hours at the most.
About 550 miles one way. Yeah, this stretch of I-10 is no joke.
So wide, so open, so scary
Scary?

Really great video! Wow! West Texas is really wide open! How fast is this sped up by like 12x?
This is a great video...thank you so much!!! :)
I LOVE THE MUSIC AND THE FEELINGS
Love Texas
So very nostalgic and good old memories
I make the drive between El Paso and San Antonio at least twice per year. I love the drive and I think it is very scenic, especially west of Fort Stockton.
you think west of ft. stockton is scenic? oh, my. i consider that the most barren and unattractive stretch in texas.
@@nomadnametab Well I like it. You think that's barren? You should see what the country is like between Del Rio & Sanderson.
it is pretty empty , isn't it? :)@@brettsoyars4341

Yes, a little odd, but very few travelers would have any need to make that move, unless they're as lost as a cow fart in a dust devil.
Nice video. What's the song?
Dash Berlin waiting
One of the longest, most boring drives you'll ever make in your life is from San Antonio to El Paso. Ooof. Props to ya for putting it to video.
I remember the 277 from Del Rio to Sonora.. Then we take the 10 to Ozona.. We take other road the take you to Big Lake, use to live in Garden City.. Now I'm in Wisconsin.. But Texas it what I Love.

Whew, that was fast! I thought I-10 in West TX was flat desert. Have you tried driving 90-100 MPH in that area?
wht is the name of the music?
Nice shots, exact in place where hills are cut to put road straight...

Ya it was 85mph for like 5min. They dropped it back to 80mph

how do you mount your camera? How many miles did you cover? How fast is the video speed up ?
what's with all that construction ?

wow west Texas its green but at the same time it looks kind of like a desert I would love to go down to Texas
6:33, is where I flipped the bird, they deserve it! what? a man can't go on a road trip without being harassed? I too am a road enthusiast by the way.
I know that pain. That shit happened to me on US 77 going from Harlingen to Corpus Christi one year.
The Mountains and Basins of West Texas. :)
80 mph speed limit? thats amazing id be maxing out my bmw on these roads
***** then ill be sure to run you off the road
***** a 7 series aint a small car

pantherfan 4055 Definitely maxxed it out heading up from San Antonio to Fredericksburg last month. Very fun drive.
the only thing I like about this is the sky high 80 mile per hour daytime speed limit. (it's still 65 at night in Texas folks)
Of course, the mention of nighttime speed limits is old. They're long gone now, along with separate speed limits for trucks.
Prime ranch land our here, nice and green for the cows.
the drive through west texas is the most boring ride I've even been in. riding from dallas to el paso and el paso to dallas is one hell of a boring ride
6:33 actually, is the checkpoint
3:34 Is that an exit to I-10 East from 10 West? Video moving to fast for me to tell
Exactly.
Yep. It's when you go west past the western terminus of I-20; there's a U-turn to I-10 East (you can also get to I-20 East by using this).
