a lot has to do with the fact you not watching them on the devices they were made for. first whatever the camera captured gets converted to NTSC, which is just bad. then that NTSC analog signal got converted to digital which is something that would already fucked up the quality even if NTSC wasn't already bad to begin with. it fucks the colors, the contrast, everything. specially if is a low resolution. and you piling up that on top of whatever NTSC already did to the image. and to end it the image got stretched up to a much higher resolution which makes every flaw many times more noticiable and you watching this on a LCD screen which is just not good at showing anything that's not its native resolution. a opposed to a CRT where everything looks amazing on it i tell you that if you was in 1979 watching this on on a CRT, it would look a LOT better
