  • Simon and Paul are joined by UCD SU President Molly Greenough to discuss the student accommodation crisis.
Molly points out the lack of available rental properties, with only 292 properties for the approximately 120,000 students in Dublin alone.
"There are only 716 rental properties in the entire country."
In an ideal world, Molly would hope the government returns from their summer break to address the issue before the semester starts.
Molly points out the conflict of interest in the Dáil, as 25% of TD's are also landlords.

That is scary. Affordable accommodation is so important in abroad for a student. I hope they will find solutions soon. I have seen like in China, they have blocks and it is just assembling. It doesn't take long time to built an apartment. Something like that will be a good solution.
