It's so crazy how fast marathon runners like Kipchoge are! And to think that they do it outdoors as well, with not perfectly even floor, climate and wind drag (which I bet makes a pretty big difference stationary on a mill vs outdoors where you run up against 'new' air the whole time)!
I was in Vienna that day of Kipchoge’s record playing Discgolf in Prater (there is an asphalt road of 4 kilometers in an alley of trees and forest, he ran this road 5 times back and forth with pacemakers and a car in front), the speed was remarkable, he always passed by so quickly! 🇦🇹💚🔥🌳

@@dwang085 Yeah. And I am also in a grey area as to what mistakes were made. I know I have seen the videos on what people think, and seen comments. I was thinking 13 Km/h is not that hard, I have run a lot on 12 which is maxed on my Treadmill, but then I looked up Miles per hour and it is 20, then I had a lot more respect for you guys, great video Anton, and as always, your music is on point! 😀

I am a National runner and just know getting tired is just and mindset and can be controlled. Also if you were really trying this challenge I would get some long distance practice.
One thing of note is that Kipchoge and I think most of these super marathoners is they are kind of built for that physically also. When compared to Anton it's a different set of strengths and weaknesses.
Hey Anton, those selected Kenyan guys are so difficult to compit, check out Russian amateur runner Искандер Ягдаров, he has done some nice performances, and this year he won Moscow marathon (being not a pro runner).
According to my coach (triathlon) the threadmil is even worse than concrete for articulations. The bouncy effect is actually throwing back energy into your joins and increase the impacts. Not entirely sure about what the science says of this take. Would be interesting to dig.
My guess would be that if you are falling at a certain speed (running), and you stop instantly (concrete), that's worse than stoping during a fraction of a second (bouncy floor). In both situations the floor will produce a force against you, but if that force is spread out through 0.1 second, that's still better than 0.
Actually mill is easier than real run. You should add 1 or 2 percent gradient on the mill to get realistic effort for the speed. So actually your results on the stadium would be worse. Also wind is a factor as well.
Anton, I'm glad I didn't have to bring the bad news, but it's as Johnny says... Consider the floor doing the running part and you 'only' staying on top of it (with all due respect, I won't get as far as you guys do... I blame my bad knee lol). The gradient compensates for that.
@@mihailmilev9909 in general or personal? Treadmils have some give and offer a constant even floor compared to running on a pavement. Woodchip strokes are better as the impact gets dampend even more but require more effort and a better ankle stablity
@@mihailmilev9909 yes, sorry, English ain't my first language. The compensation can be calculated, but I don't know it by heart. You can look it up though 😉

Да, я недавно начал бегать большие дистанции, и задумал пробежать марафон. И когда я посмотрел на рекордное время, я так офигел, это просто невероятно, на что способен человек.
13 mph basically near my Max Speed so about 1 and a half minutes. Edit: Okay after seeing the whole video I may have over estimated my abilities maybe 45 seconds for me.
The difference is that kipchoge doesnt have much muscle mass, hence why he can run with minimal stress on his body. This is why Kenyans win long distance races.
You cleverly never show the display speed up to 13! I'm skeptical, I think you were at 12.0 mph. Almost all gym treadmills don't go higher than 12.0 for safety reasons
You right. For some reason I never did. But on this channel we don’t afraid to fail for whatever reason and show things as it is. And this machine goes up to 14mph. But you have to push it while running otherwise it will decrease speed.
Interesting thing to note, for the sub 2hr Marathon as well as having pace runners, they were also there to block the headwind so he was slipstreaming all the way, along with a dead flat course and illegal running shoes. Still pretty darn impressive though

Such a simple video, yet very entertaining! You are truly gifted. Stay safe, Anton ❤❤ hope your shoulder is better now.
Always the right balance of cool fitness information and entretainment Anton :)
Thank you!
That's wild. Two really fit guys, one who runs almost every day, and neither of you could even make 1 min 30 seconds. He kept it up for 2 hours!
Looks like Sean was running backwards lol
exactly lmao
1 step forward and 2 steps back
Frame rate things
Sometimes running backwards makes you go faster. But it's a special technique, not for the faint hearted
File under "times Anton and Sean B. inspired a ton of folks to take on a physical challenge" :). Thanks for this, gents -- this is a great idea!
Thanks!

First.
Great video as usual Anton.
It looked like Sean was running backwards.
sean looked like he was running backwards at 3:30 XD (going frame by frame is so trippy)
Great perspective.

Well seeing as how I've got a bad knee at the moment I'd bet I could make it about 5 seconds before I fell on my face 😂
Good video Anton 🤘

Much uch harder to maintain that pace on the road but good effort ;)
Try it on one of those free running machines, I bet you do way better. I think a tread mill messes up a natural running stride.

Treadmill is much easier than running outside too for the simple fact that the ground outside doesnt move under you automatically.

bruh just out of curiosity I did this, I ran 6 mph during 10 minues and I was dying by the end 😂

that heel strike ;(
How far can you run at 140bpm heart rate?
140bpm…almost endless.
Are you sure the treadmill speed is not set to kph? 😀
He can run 13 mph for two hours .... but, can he throw a needle through a plate glass window?
We think not 😆
I last 30 seconds at that speed lol
You can't start the timer before the treadmill accelerates...
