Both the OneTigris Rock Fortress and the FireHiking 4-8 Person tent are great hot tents. In this video I go over the pros and cons of each and tell you which one I prefer. Let me know if you think there is a better hot tent tipi.
Really dig your channel, have both the 1 person and 4-8 firehiking tents. Nice to see honest reviews about budget gear! Can't wait to see where your channel goes!
Dont know anything about the firehiking tent but i have purschased 2 hot tents and a stove from one tigris. Had the "4" person tipi which i used twice a month, two nights each, and it held up very well for the past three yrs. I now have the rock fortress and haved used it a few times this past winter and am very happen with it. It did seep a little through the seams but i just used the seam sealer i have already and didnt have an issue with it since. Very roomy compared to the smaller tipi, obviously. Can comfortably fit two cots and a stove + dog.the stove i got was a round stove wich didnt really do great. -one tigris military wood stove- not enough front air i take on the door so they added another to the rear which would just mess up the flow and after a few uses it just didnt seal. Tents im very happy with. Beleive i paid $220 shipped. Stay away from their "military" round stove. Not good in my opinion.
I think the fabric advantage goes to onetigris. Nylon is vastly superior to polyester it’s a lot more expensive as well. So that’s mainly why the fortress is more expensive.
firehiking is top notch. picked one up on an internet sale for 199 and pitched it next to my friends one tigris. The fabric is much more sturdy, it pools less condensation and the stitching is neat.
GREAT VIDEO comparison for the 2 tents I'm considering. I DO wish you had hooked up the stove pipe through the stove jack in the 2nd tent/Rock fortress because the placement of the stove IN the tent due to the stove jack IS OFTEN A FACTOR because you HAVE TO PLACE YOUR STOVE IN A CERTAIN PLACE. But thank youfor this video!!!
I've compared the tents from FireHiking and OneTigris, but I have to recommend Hill Zero's. I'm being honest when I say Hill Zero is the most outstanding het tent on Amazon.
Very informative and well done. How big is your stove? I just ordered the 4-8 Fire Hiking tent so Im hoping a Kni Co Alaskan Jr will fit a bit better than it did in the 2-4 person Fire Hiking tent I had up until this weekend. The wind decided to blow the tent onto the campfire as we were packing up. 😬
Thanks. I currently have two stoves for this type of tent. I have the large version of the King camp... And the large Winnerwell Nomad. Oh no.. is the tent a loss?
I have a cheap top lander tipi with single zippers. I've found that i can reach the zipper by striking a pose like spider man landing a jump with my arm parallel to the tent and one knee bent, one on the ground. Maybe my shoulder will encounter condensation but i don't have to lay down to unzip the tent. Two zipper pulls would be better and they should all have them but it's not so bad. Edit: i just checked and there's no need to have my knee hit the ground but there is a fair amount of body contact with the tent.
It looks to be the middle brother between the two you reviewed on this video, at about 15 foot diameter, and the Amazon thumbnail looks to show dual YKK zipper's on the both doors.... Plus that clear window to boot... 😎👍
I wonder how these would compare to the pomoly circle 6 which is in the same size and Money category but with the circle feature it keeps the inside walls farther away I think
Thanks! With a stove, I would definitely say 3 cots max. However I think there is a way to add a 4th cot. If you had two of these... I believe you can have 4 cots. amzn.to/41nyDEy
I don't have the inner screen tent, but taking a look at it and knowing the size of the tent, I would say 2 adults max in it. Perhaps 5 small kids would fit but it would be tight.
I like it... I think you can't go wrong with the KingCamp. I would recommend that you practice with it before going camping. I made some mistakes early on with this stove that caused excessive smoking. Now after using it for a couple of months, I'm pretty good at it. There are better stoves... but for the money this is a good one. I'd rank it 8/10. The pipes seem to be universal.
@@CampOUTLife Thanks for the info. It’s a good looking stove that looks solidly built. I have a Kni-Co stove that is just too big and heavy at times so I wanted a more compact option.
@@giantfactory One thing to keep in mind... if you buy the stove, the bag it comes in is kind of cheap and the zipper broke on it. I bought another bag off of Amazon that is much better and holds it all.
Do you have any videos on that wood stove? I just bought the medium size but haven't really heard any thoughts on it, so what say you brother... are you happy with the stove?
No videos yet on that stove. On my to-do list. It's a good stove... Leaks a little smoke in the beginning. The more you use it, the better you get at it. Id give it an 8/10 ranking.
The one thing none of these tents have is a water dam at the bottom to collect and drain into a collection bottle. You always need as much water as you can gan get. I have to sew in a collection dam around the circumference about 18 inches from the bottom. I seal it with silicone.
I hate to say, but the onetigris tent was NOT set up correctly; which is why it looks so janky. The Rock Fortress has WAY more room when set up correctly. The guy lines create a ton of space; which as you can see in the video, did not work at all.

Thanks. I just spent the night in the back of my truck without heat while it snowed several inches. Stay tuned for that video.

Excellent comment.. .thanks for sharing. Been happy with Rock Fortress as well... just wished it was a little bigger.
Great video. Definitely leaning more towards firehiking for the space and material quality.
Hope you enjoy it!
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING YOUR TENTS WITH TWO COTS!!!!!
Definitely helps to see how much room is available.

It's definitely a good one!
Just set up my new Rock Fortress for this weekend snow and wind storm.
Awesome.. will be an adventure!

Subscribed to you.. by the way.
Nice comparison. Been looking into the firehiking tent just haven’t pulled the trigger on it. Have the smaller green version they sell
Can't go wrong. Good tent!
Loved the review! I camp alone so I would take the one Tigris. Right now I have a waldmate with close to the same dementions
Waldmate... not familiar with that one. Do you like it?
@@CampOUTLife i believe it’s just a Chinese brand.
@@brianbuchert1521 makes sense.. I think I found it at Alibaba

How about testing the Preself 4-6 man hot tent... The clear window seems like a nice touch....🤠👍
I would love to get my hands on one to try out.

@@Soli_Deo_Gloria_. I'll have to put that tent on my buy list. Looks like a good one to try out.
I seen Amazon will have them on a Lightning Deal tomorrow... looks like it's starting on the 13th at about 7AM eastern... 😎👍
@@Soli_Deo_Gloria_. Really!? Wow. Will have to check it out. Wonder how much of a discount is given.

Interesting point... might have to add this to my list to try out. Also noteworthy is the Circle6 also has a stove jack.
Great review!
Do you think you can fit four cots in the FIREHIKING with a stove if you really wanted to?
Thanks!
With a stove, I would definitely say 3 cots max. However I think there is a way to add a 4th cot.

I check the official website from Onetiger is seems the Rock F has
70D silicone coated nylon fabric
Is there version difference?
Have you got the inner for the firehiking tipi? Wondering if it can fit 4/5 people in on mats in there?
I don't have the inner screen tent, but taking a look at it and knowing the size of the tent, I would say 2 adults max in it. Perhaps 5 small kids would fit but it would be tight.
I would recommend giving the onetigris gastropod a try 😀
I might do that. I've also been eyeballing the Conifer.
How do you like that Kingcamp wood stove? Are the pipes universal so that extra lengths can be purchased? I’ve been eyeing this stove for myself.
