This film has never left me. I didnt even like it that much when i first saw it, but I could never shake it. The music, the visuals, the acting, somehow encapsulates war - the horror, the loss and the humanity. Theres just something special about this film
Absolutely. Some just watch movies to get thrilled or to have fun but only a few people get the core message in the movies. Some find this movie boring and some find it full of meanings... I am so happy for I saw this comment, I see I'm not alone. 👍👍
I think I remember a critic saying someone asked them if Thin Red Line was the best war film ever and he said no because it’s much more than a war film
One may come to seek further meaning about what you’ve said. A picture of such comfort and security and extreme suffering and pain. Such a short sentence but I see the same demons you do, in my own way. Like a child climbing trees. Catching frogs maybe. The woods were home to me, once upon a time. To the “whomever-had-a-home-concept-fantasy”, but were ripped away by the many ways one may be. War is one, but believe me there are limitless definitions of such an idea. Home turns into a place only available while lucid dreaming. Or some other semi-unconscious way of connecting to home. Where maybe the pretty colors like sunset-orange and the mixed in soft reds that are often bold, but without blood behind them. Without violence. This is where pinks form freely, best mixed within cyan hues in between the clouds we once saw a dragon in. Before home became the far away place we decided we cannot get back to. Forbidden by some act of war, as we’ve each experienced either willing, not, or a mix of both most likely. A short sentence so full of feeling yet trapped inside a mind, all minds maybe, of walls colored of only black-and-gray cement. While maybe hidden, home will always live within the pretty colors and their simplicity. All we must do is remember to look. Keep seeking my friend. I, in return, will do the same. Pinky swear. It's important to understand that this is an anti-war philosophical meditation on American Transcendantalism. The battle scenes are well done but like Barry Lyndon, that's not at all what this is about. I love the movie and wouldn't compare it to Saving Private Ryan. It's not the same genre of film.

this is one of the best warmovies ever ! think i saw a small fault in this movie but im not sure ...one of the two soldiers to get killed ; the two who get sent up the ridge in the tall grass and they both get shot ...well i think later on when the nick nolte character sents up 6 guys to check the hilltop one of those men is back there in the fight ...
This movie was amazing I hate the fact that his girl left him after all he went threw and she says she’s lonely really captures the evils world we live in
Every good movie has an opinion, and if you publish an opinion that is about war it can always be understood as propaganda by someone. It's a matter of opinion, I think.
This movie isn't propaganda. It's not about America, it's about ordinary soldiers and their internal and external struggles during war, not just on the American side but the Japanese side. Basically, this movie is about the human experience and the effects of war.
Frank Teng I'm not sure about the movie, cause I will not watch it, but the trailer stinks of propaganda. "Estimates of casualties in the Vietnam War vary widely. The most extensive survey estimates deaths in the war from 1954 to 1975 at between 1.5 and 3.6 million people." WW2 - two nuclear bombs on civilians - casualties about 400 000 from the bombs and from the radiation afterwards. And in this trailer they sing songs and dance together?! Bullshit. Soldier experience? Bullshit!
I saw this thumbnail. I had to click on it so I could warn whoever is reading that this was one of the most disappointing movies I've ever watched. Slow. Shots of tree leaves with poetry being read. I will never get back the time I wasted watching it.

Forget about Saving Private Ryan vs. Shakespeare in Love. The Thin Red Line should've swept that year.

I hate how they dropped the Clooney name and he was in it for 2 seconds.
At least they didn't drop Travolta's, Leto's and Stahl's names.
Thomas Jane too
I think John Travolta was in for 30 seconds !!.
And Brody is the 2nd dropped name even if he has only two lines in it.
